Jan 31, 2010Is it possible to check a class to see whether it has a method or not ? Or even a particular property

View 3 RepliesI may be wrong but as far as I can understand it the hitTestObject() method checks to see whether the object is touching a specific instance of another object? Is there a method I can use where I can check to see if it is touching any Object of a specified class?
OR is there a method I can call where I can see if an Object of a specified class exists at a specific X and Y.I am actually working in Flex using an Image component as opposed to using Flash.
See [URL] Now there is a button called Answera, which when clicked should have a symbol (movie clip) called Check appear at the cordinated specified. Check exists in the libary (but does not have an instance name) and no where else on the stage. when I run this code I get: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method Check. -> var rightCheck = new Check(); How is it undefinded if it exists in the libary?
View 7 RepliesI have a rather silly question but as3's document class always gets me confused.I have a public method on my document class. I want to call this method from another class that is instantiated from within an object in the library of the flash file (the same one on whose document class I want to call a method).
View 6 RepliesIn AS3, I'm trying to check whether an object is an instance of, or extends a particular class. Using something like if (object is ClassName) works fine if the object is an instance of ClassName but not if it's an instance of a class that extends ClassName.
Pseudo-code example:
class Foo {}
class Bar extends Foo {}
var object = new Bar();
[Code]....
Is there a way to determine if an object has a method, without error catching? like "hasOwnProperty()" except hasOwnMethod().
View 5 RepliesThere is a Point (flash.geom.Point) class in as3.I want to add method to class Point (e.g. convertToStagePointMyMethod()) and I'd like to call this method by using [code]What should I do in order to add this method to class Point? Is it possible without inheritance. I'd like to use it like "partial" classes in .NET

For example, if an application uses class, method, or property which is supported only by Flash Player10.When you run the application on Flash Player9, what will happen? Flash Player will be crashed? Or Flash Player will show you a message screen to upgrade your Flash Player? Or the application will normally run and will ignore the part which uses the unsupported class, method, or property? Or the application will cause a runtime error when the unsupported class, method, or property are called?
View 2 RepliesWhen you call a method of a class inside a callback function, you can not use this object.To call the method, in javascript, I declare that variable, assign this to that, and use that inside the callback to call the method of this.In actionscript, do I have to do the same way as I do in javascript?The following code is the example to use that to call a method inside callback.Are there more simple way in actionscript?
class C {
private var that:C;
function C() {[code]......
I am trying to call a method that has some xml functionality and It keeps coming up null.What I am trying to do is; I have a page that has four dynamic text fields that get their content from an xml file. I would like to create a method that will output the contents to display in the dynamic field. Maybe my approach is WAY off here, but my supervisor wants all xml related tasks contained in a xml.as fileMain.as
package classes
{
import flash.display.*;

I have two classes. The Main class calls a function, which is defined in a Second class.I'm getting the following error:Error 1120: Access of undefined property myFunctionBasically, I am creating buttons in the Main class that will add a corresponding Child to an Object in the Second class (if you click one button, child x1 will be added, if you click another button, child x2 will be added, and so forth).Here's the relevant code for the Main.as file:
package
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;

I have the following parent class that I'm working with:
Code:
package {
import com.poptent.SubClassOne;
import com.poptent.SubClassTwo;
[Code].....
I am trying to set it up so that a parent method called by subClassOneInstance can affect subClassTwoInstance.
I have two classes:
1. DocumentClass
2. GameClass
I would like to be able to call a public method of DocumentClass from GameClass. I don't know how to do that, I tried instantiating an object of DocumentClass within GameClass which simply throws me into an endless loop and after a short while application crashes.
I have a class, my document class, called SilkRoadTweeter. as I also have a class called User.as In my User class I need to call a method called nonce() I have tried this, trace(SilkRoadTweeter(root).nonce()); But I get the error, TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. How do I do this?
I have a class called Unit. When I use this class in a .fla file, I create it by saying:
var unit00:Unit = new Unit(...);
So then it creates a gfx representation of the screen for me. I would like to have a method like this:
PHP Code:
[code]....
So how do I get this to work? I know that delete this will not work when defined inside the class. How do I target the .fla's instance name when I don't know what it will be called?
They are located in the same package and are both importing each other. I am trying to call a function from Class2 within Class1, but I don't know the syntax. I tried: Class2.godoThisThingNow(); But it gave me an error 1061, call to an undefined method. What's the proper syntax for this, and is it even possible in AS3?
View 3 RepliesFrom my LoadXML class I am trying to call a method, named onBackgrLoad, which sits inside the Main class. I made the method onBackgrLoad public. Inside the LoadXML class in the method ParseData I added an event listener. This is supposed to call onBackgrLoad but it doesnt work

I see where i was going wrong however when i change the instance name like you said i 1120: Access of undefined property snakePart. all of this code btw is at document class level and the movieclips are in the library not on stage

I have the following snippet, which checks the name of two MovieClips.[code]...
Is there a way to verify if this movieClip has a the right instance name defined while click on each of them??
ex: I have created several mcs on stage of Flash. mc1, mc2, mc3... instance name and I want to verify if this mc has the correct instance or class name defined.
I'm tryng to make a public static method call another method, but Flash throws error 1180, sayng that the method called by the static method is undefined.
Code: Select allpackage
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;[code]....

I have 2 classes, Entity and PlayerEntity.On the main class (Main.as) I am using an for loop to check which one is a PlayerEntity and which one is an Entity. (Note that Entity is the superclass for PlayerEntity)[code]...
View 3 RepliesIn ActionScript 3.0, there are a few ways to check a class's extension. For example, if I want to know of a custom class extends Sprite I could use the is operator:
trace(MyClass is Sprite);
Or I could use flash.utils.getQualifiedSuperclassName:
trace(getQualifiedSuperclassName(MyClass));
I would like to accept a class as an argument and check to see if the passed class implements an certain interface. Is there an equally simple or common way to check if my custom class adheres to an interface? Perhaps something like:
trace(MyClass implements IMyInterface);
I've successfully configured AMF on the flex side. The client is sending messages, but in return it always get empty response ( headers, but no body).
How to debug index.php? How to check if classes are mapped correctly?
Here is my index.php:

require_once(realpath(APPLICATION_PATH . '/models/Amf/') . DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR. 'AmfService.php');
