Flash :: Content-Delivery-Networks (CDN) Like AWS Cloudfront, Policies?
Jun 26, 2011
Is this a typical 'CDN' policy ? Is this to encourage customers to host only such content that is going to be around for quite a while, and going to see probably a million downloads I started looking at AWS Cloudfront for it's ability stream RTMP media (aka Flash server like behaviour) to host video content. That is to say, I am not too concerned about the "distribution close to client" benefit. However, what surprised me is a clause on the AWS Cloudfront pricing page, that says something like the first 1000 'cancellations' (per month) are free. I interpret 'Cancellation' to the be the act of removal of content that I no longer wish to serve via the CDN. Is that right ?
My requirement is the ability to serve media content (streaming audio, streaming video) which isn't shared with general public or a large audience. It is something like each of these files have a lifetime (or relevance) for only few days (a week or so, at most), and each file will be viewed only by a small handful of people/consumers (e.g. 1 file viewed by an average of 3 people, maximum say 10 people). Also the content's privacy needs to be maintained, so an accidentally shared media URL shouldn't allow an unauthorized person to access it. In this case, is it right to assume that CDN is an overkill, not the right solution ?
I was drawn to AWS CF for it low price (at least, low entry price) for RTMP streaming abilities. What other options could I consider. For me, high availability and round-trip-time are secondary... primary concern being cost, i.e. it needs to be as low as possible. On the question of "how low", I'd say low-enough for developing economies, s.a. in Asia, South America and Africa.
I'm doing a Flash Banner for an ADv campaing. Since the max swf file size allowed is very low, I'm trying to load external JPG images from the main server.Reading the crossdomain policies for Flash movies I see that:You cannot load variables or XML data into a Flash movie from another domain.
It's the same with static files as Jpg images?I'm testing the banner with various results: looking in Firebug, images are always loaded, but sometimes they appear, sometimes not, sometimes only the first time (it's a loop). There are no warnings however.
Loading the Banner with the same domain as the static images always works.I also tried to put a crossdomain.xml file on the domain that serves the static images, but problem seems to continue (maybe Flash cache that request somewhere..
i developed a social network using flash (actionscript 3) , php and mysql and it interest in some fields of science.i would like from you to test it (if you find any mistake please tell me)
I've written a little OSMF player that streams via RTMP from Amazon Cloudfront. There's a known issue, the mp3 duration is not correctly readed from metadata and thus the seek function is not working. I know there's a workaround implying the use of getStreamLength function of NetConnection, which I successfully implemented in a previous non-OSMF player, but now I don't know how and when to call it, in terms of OSMF Events and Traits. This code is not working:
there is is simple Game ( kids multiplication )game will be on Normal website How I can share Game score over Social networks like Facebook without using PHP or any server-side scripting directly from Flash ?Game is also just XML based game just in the end I want to share User score and website link to any social-network where user want
So I have a working Flash player using Cloudfront, AS3, NetConnection & NetStream. Works with a FLV, but I need it to work with MP4s. It connects to the stream, and outputs the following:
I'm building a Flash mp3 player to handle streaming mp3s served by Amazon CloudFront (which uses Flash Media Server). I'm using an FLVPlayback 2.5 component to do most of the heavy lifting (I tried an all AS3 method, but any stream automatically stopped within 5 - 10 seconds of playing). When I trace out the FLVPlayback's totalTime property, I get NaN. This is causing the seek bar to simply not work. This only seems to affect mp3s, as when I load an FLV I get a real value for totalTime. Does anyone know why this is happening
Can we broadcast our video in HD Quality through FMS? if possible what we have to do for that, whats the minimum bandwidth needed to deliver the HD quality video?
I'm about to implement public function writeExternal( output:IDataOutput ):void {...} public function readExternal( input:IDataInput ):void {...} to make a set of object serializable.
Although I'm pretty sure, that I implemented all correctly, readExternal(..) at a certain point complains about too few data left to read: RangeError: Error #2006: The supplied index is out of bounds. at flash.filesystem::FileStream/readObject()
I wonder, if I have a circular object network like A = { left -> B, right -> B } B = { father -> A } And I call writeObject( a ) Will Flex serialize the hole object network and each object once and only one?
I did this: Declared type annotations like this: [RemoteClass(alias="model.MyClass")] Implemented parameter-free constructors Declared all classes using implements IExternalizable SharedObject's send() method is guaranteed to send each object once and only once.
Additional infos: Reading and writing a ByteArray Using Remote Object Components IExternalizable interface
I use FCE to edit video. I then convert the video to flv for delivery (viewing) via the Internet. I've read lots of discussion on how to create the flv. I've tried various methods, including:
1) Since I have Flash installed on my computer, I've used FCE's Quicktime conversion to export/encode directly to flv, and
2) Export an uncompressed QT movie from FCE; then used Flash Video Encoder to convert the .mov to .flv
What's best practice (I'm open to other procedures too)?
PLAYER.SWF -- contains flv player and controls. cross-domain-policy.xml -- that allows everything. www.yoursite.com[code].....
If I have all the files on the same domain, everything works. The swf is designed to look for the prefs.xml file at whatever location where the html page is. I can have the swf in a location like[url]... and have everything else in some other funky location on that domain. If I try to have the html page and prefs and stuff on another domain, it can't read from the prefs.xml, and I get the Error #2048. From my research, this is a cross-domain issue, but I have cross-domain policies all over the place and it's still doing it.
I'm having an epic amount of difficulty trying to get a result from a httprequest to a https address.I'm loading a policy file from the address but I'm still getting the 2048 security error.I load my policy file like so in my preinitilize handler.
private function preint(e:FlexEvent):void { Security.loadPolicyFile("https://api.soundcloud.com/crossdomain.xml");
When concurrent users increases my a/v conent delivery to the client is very slow. or even drop. Feel breaks in the session. but when check my server rsourses, almost free. One more observation, when i liesten to the recorded stream everything seems to be fine like there is nothing oing bad in live session.
Is there somthing which is missing for concurrent users for FMS config file.
Though I've so far had good luck testing FMS with EC2, cloudfront has been awful. Whether I get an actual connection to a stream is hit or miss. Sometimes it connects. Sometimes it connects with no audio. Sometimes is says it's connected, but then shows me the play button (not playing). Delay is anywhere from 10 - 60 secs. Here are a couple of [URLs].
I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.
how it is possible to edit dynamic content and modify the content and save it, all within flash.I have tried some experiments in the past and have got the text to change etc which is easy but i need a way to save the content so the next time anybody sees the flash it will have the latest content until i change it again.
I'm loading one SWF into another but the internal one is coming over the main content and that can't happen.here is the part of my code where the external content is being loaded anyone hason what I can do to fix this? here is my code:
Code: var loadAnimBox:Loader = new Loader(); var vid_mc:MovieClip;
I'm developing a Flash application which is communicating with Javascript to allow more features such as custom html input etc., by placing an absolute positioned div on top of the flash application and controlling it's position etc. with Flash & Javascript.
Because these html elements have to appear above the flash content, I figured the following basic css would be enough to do the trick:
#flashContent { position: absolute; left: 0px;
[Code].....
So, the htmlContent has a higher z-index than the flash content and thus it should be shown above it. Unfortunately, this only seems to work when you set the Flash object's "wmode" parameter to "transparent".
The problem with this setting is that it's seriousely decreasing the application's framerate to an unacceptable amount.
For static content this does not seem to be a problem, however for my application there's all kinds of elements that you can drag around which have to be moved real-time (while moving the mouse).
So, how do I enable html content on top of flash content without using the "transparent" wmode parameter or how do I optimize framerate when using the "transparent" wmode parameter?
How to remove a loader and its content using removeChild or any other way, I had removed the loader but its content still playing in the background i know that from the sound of the content.this is the my code for removing:
I have a menu whee you can choose a picture to lead, works great with first selection, but when you choose a different picture it loads over the last picture,I want to substitute the content of that movie clip not to load all the pictures in the same space. I treid to use clear() and removeChild(), but this only works when I choose pic1 then remove that to load pic2, is there an easy way to substitute the content for the new content?
I am a designer working in a flash file on the navigation part. The web site (is not yet posted) works fine but I need to change the contents when the menu is clicked (contact us, etc. ..). I need to find where the information is so I can change the address, phone number, info. but I have looked everywhere and cannot find it. Where could it be hiding?
is there a way to keep the content of a mc (attached content) when I duplicate it? I know that duplicate remembers size, position, rotation etc. But I want to get the attached content too.
how to load external swfs into the an MC content box using movies with embedded buttons?the problem i'm running into is this: i have animated buttons within movie clips. i also have a main_content MC in my scene into which i'm trying to load background images from another file. this other file has 3 frames, each with a different image.i don't know what the action script would be for a movie/button to load my external swf frames into the main_content MC.
I have a problem with scrolling content.I m using the information and files from the following tutorial...http:[url].....The scroller is working but I cant see the actual content.I cant figure out what the problem is, Iļæ½ve uploaded the .fla file so that you can check it out...http:[url]......
I'm editing a flash web template in Flash pro (cs5.5 master collection) . I have a horz scrolling calendar with event and direction links in each day. The calendar is Html/css/ and jQuery. If I Build a single Html page that loads the CSS and jQuery and contains all the calls and Content text and I call/display this in a flash box in my "movie"
I'm revamping a website I'm working on to be accessible to those with disabilities. I'm using the Jaws screen reader to test.The Flash content is embedded in a ColdFusion page.The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to navigate to the Flash content on the page...
hitting the Tab button on the keyboard only tabs to the next link on the ColdFusion container page, never tabbing to any of the Flash buttons.If I click on the Flash content once, I can then tab between the Flash elements, but 508 standards require keyboard-only access, so clicking once isn't an option.Also, even though I've given each Flash button a name in the Accessibility panel, the screen reader is not reading the names. (Works fine in an all-Flash page, but not in the case of Flash being embedded in a ColdFusion page).
I have an xml doc which works beautifully....now I want to edit the "content" so that it display html content, ie....within the text of the "content" I could add bold tags or add a links or something like that....I have looked up and down and no thread I could find has a straight forward definitive answer...not just on here either...is it that difficult...i doubt it?I will have to set the properties of my text box to accept html...right?so something like this....
theText.html = true;
THis was my attemp...(the first part)...but no deal...
Code: <icons><icon image="shoes.png" tooltip="www.shoes4crews.co.uk" content="I made this...<![CDATA[<a [code]....
