Feb 11, 2011Is it possible to show Flash content in Custom FMBL tabs for pages? Can it be done with HTML or must it be FBML if possible?

Using Flash FLVPlayback Component With Skin On Facebook (FBML)?
Mar 4, 2010I'm trying to insert a player on a Facebook Page tab with FBML with fb:swf. I have the following:

I can see the video, no problem. It plays inside a FLVPlayback component, which uses a skin (referred by /player/skinName.swf, I tried also the absolute path here). This player works perfectly everywhere else (even on an iframe Facebook application, where it's not inserted using the fb:swf tag, but with object, of course). However, I can't see the skin on the Page tab.

Dec 6, 2011I've recently used the 'Static HTML' application to add autoplaying flash content to a Facebook Page.Nothing too fancy, no sound, and only a few secs long. Now, Facebook say:-"Apps on Pages must not host media that plays automatically without a user's interaction."
What do they mean by 'Media' exactly? I can understand a ban on autoplaying audio content but does the ban extend to something as harmless as an animated GIF? Or more to the point, does an autoplaying .swf file fall under this?
Lastly, what course of action would Facebook take if I did violate this rule? Would they issue a warning (giving me an opportunity to remove the 'offending' item) or would they just shut down my page without any consultation?

Nov 8, 2011I have a problem when i try to access the internet from a swf that is run localy.I want to load other swf files from diffrent domains into my main file wich works fine when the swf is on some domain but when i download the file and run it localy it doesn't work.
Can i change the sandbox type from actionscript? Mochi Media does it after enctypting your swf but i don't know how.
Facebook :: Possible To Use SWC Files With Flash CS3 Professional?
Jun 7, 2011I hate CS5, so I'm trying to stick with CS3. However, I'm doing a Facebook app, and I need to use the GraphAPI, which is a swc file. So far, I cannot figure out how to use the swc file with Flash CS3 Professional. CS5 has a "browse to swc file" option in "Publish Settings". CS3 does not - only "browse to folder". Is this even possible in CS3, or is my only option to switch over to CS5? (Again, I'm talking about Flash Professional, not Flash Builder.)

May 18, 2009how to load files to a Flash site Dynamically from a remote server. The first part was showing how to load a .txt file.
I have created a dynamic test field and give it an instance name of myTextArea. Then I uploaded the .txt file to my server in a testing folder. At the beginning of the paragraph in the .txt file I put homeText= Then going back to Flash CS3 I made an Action Script layer and entered the following code there;

But when I go to test the movie I get a "undefined" error (I guess it is an error) where the text should load in the dynamic text field.

The user experience on the shared content below is just completely unclear (even when I tested some clarified language: e.g. "click here"). Users simply don't know what to do: they often either click "Like," or they comment with something along the lines of "I support you."
According to the documentation, it is possible to share Flash content in these posts. I'm hoping I can create a "Support" button as an SWF button.
Is it possible to dynamically create such an SWF with a custom *href? Will my use case work on Facebook?

Oct 24, 2010I'm currently building an application using the Adobe Facebook API and I've run into an issue where for the login method the Facebook login popup displays but when doing a Facebook share/post the popup is blocked.
This code works fine and displays me a Facebook login popup without question (Firefox):

Facebook.login( onFacebookLogin, { perms:permissions.join(',') } );
However, the following code running in the same application throws up a popup blocker (again Firefox):
Facebook.ui( "stream.publish", "popup", params );
Does anyone know of a work around this issue to make the share popup come up just like the login popup?

Jul 30, 2010Can I develop a Flash AS3 download swf that will let a user select a location on their hard drive to download files to and then start the download of multiple files (in the same way I can do with upload)? Or should I zip all the multiple files first and download zipped files to local disk. My users will want to download potentially hundreds of images from a server to local disk so I dont want them to have to click save for each one. Will AS3 let me pass an array of filenames and store the location that the user originally chooses? I ask because this sounds like it would have been not allowed for security reasons.

Oct 20, 2010I have a need to validate a field against our database to verify unique-ness. The problem I seem to be having is that the validators doValidation() exits before we've heard back from database.
How can I have the validator wait to return its payload until after we've heard from the DB?
Or perhaps a better question might be (since I think the first question is impossible), how can I set this up differently, so that I don't need to wait, or so that the wait doesn't cause the validation to automaticallly return valid?

I get the alert popup (that is the loadComplete is called) but do not get any swf loaded, not able to view anything. What can be the problem, am I missing something or some security issue? I also tried the image control to load the swf. Moreover, the swf are pdf files converted to swf so can this be an issue of different frame rates between flash and flex ?

This is the code I used:

Jun 1, 2009I'm trying to determine the practical difference between using the com.facebook.session.WebSession and com.facebook.session.JSSession. The documentation ([URL]) has more around WebSession - but the example I have which is closest to what solution I'm trying to implement uses JSSession and it looks like I could avoid all of the JavaScript pass-through & ExternalInterface calls I'm making. It appears that the benefit of using this new ActionScript Facebook API is to avoid having to make all of the Facebook calls via JavaScript.

Feb 4, 2007I have this situation (simplified):
MC-A.swf opened from local computer (C:/) and loads MC-B.swf which is hosted on a server.
When MC-B.swf is loaded, it tries to access file called "loader.swf" which is also on local computer (C:/).
When it tries to access the "loader.swf" I get the following error message:
*** Security Sandbox Violation ***
Connection to file:///C|/loading.swf halted - not permitted from [URL]
-- Remote SWFs may not access local files.
I read discussions concerning this issue, and as I understood, I could use:
System.security.allowDomain("[URL]");
to solve this problem, but it didn't work.
I wouldn't like to change the loaded file to load it's resources also from the web, since it can find them on the local machine.
