Nov 16, 2011I'm just trying to understand how once HTML5 enters the picture, the current concerns about browser incompatibility and other issues go away? Wouldn't HTML5 simply add another set of browsers to the large list of current browsers that the application must target?
That is, assuming the enterprise web app requires one of these new HTML5 features (e.g. playing audio and/or video, integrating SVG or vector graphics, etc.). If such a feature isn't critical then graceful degradation may be acceptable and then my question is moot.
But for those apps that require one of these new HTML5 features, are you planning to support older browsers, or expecting it's acceptable to restrict to HTML5 browsers because the enterprise in question has made one of them their new corporate standard (or other scenario, etc.)?
Flash Compatible To Vista?
May 5, 2009OK i am using Flash cs4 and i am using crappy windows vista, and i am using my wacom tablet and when i use the brush tool i dont see the pressure sensitive tab which is making my lines uneven etc., do i need to reinstall flash.When i use flash on my other laptop it works does flash not like vista?

Apr 2, 2007I mistitled the thread because I thought the problem was with the version of flash player, but when I ran my swf locally everything worked fine, so I now know that it's a problem created by making the swf remote. Perhaps an admin could change it to "bitmapdata.draw() doesn't work remotely" if they read this.[URL] My swf works fine when I run it locally, but not when I run it from my server!? When images from flickr are loaded into my swf on [URL], flash doesn't want to bitmapdata.draw(mc) the mc with the image (for the reflection), but this problem is non-existent locally. Everything is identical, same SWF, same browser.

Dec 9, 2011What makes a camera compatible with flash? I have a camera I purchased from IDS Imaging and it shows up in my camera list in as3 with print out the array made from Camera.names. But when I go to use it, it just doesn't show up. I do have a lens on it, and it can see it working when I used the IDS software provided for testing. I've also been able to make it work in c#, but I want to use it for a flash app I'm developing.

Jun 28, 2010I'd like to have the swf get as big as possible for each user without requiring scrolling. Of course it would stick to a certain ratio, currently I'm using 2:1 but that could be changed (maybe I should use 16:9 since it is the standard widescreen ratio).

It has come to our attention that these are not fully supported on HTML5, and that they will not play on HTML5 platforms such as the iPad.So, in order to support such platforms, my thinking is that we need to try and display the video using the HTML5 <video> tag if the browser supports HTML5, or fall back to flash if it does not.However, it would seem that this requires our site to provide two video formats (flash format and video such as MP4). That presents problems because A), we need to store multiple video formats on the site, and B) our existing flash data will no longer work.Can anyone recommend information about the best way to support as many platforms as possible. And is there any way to do so without having to support multiple video formats?

Apr 17, 2011Ive just started messing around with flash cs5 and trying to make a simple app for the ipad and have it eventually on the app store. The thing that has me concerned is that the animations seem to be struggling on the ipad.
im running it at 24 fps and there is zero physics and very simple AS3 for touch to stop animations. But the animations are running so slowly and the sound layer is no longer in sync with the animation.
Does anyone have any experience with this that can advise me on what the issue may be? why would a simple flash cs5 animation struggle as an ipad app? would the file type of the sound files be an issue?
