What format should I make images into, for an App for iPad? (Each image will be a full page of a children's picture book. I'll create a Flash CS4 movie of the book and then convert the movie to an App for iPad.)

Is there a way to have the file reference work under ipad?
The file reference works for flash and andriod tablet, but not the ipad.

I need a save and load function. Im gonna explain why and how. Im making a test game. When the player finish a level another level on the "Level select" screen should be unlock.
So, when player open my game first time. Level 2 is locked. When he finish Level 1 he can play Level 2.I got some help with this and got it to work like this:

That means if Player hits goal he get send back to frame 2 and "level2played" gets true and he can click and play level2. But this doesnt ofcourse get saved when the app get closed. So i kinda need it to be saved. So if Player hits goal in level 1, this "level2played=true;" gets saved.
Is it possible to use AS3 to control the appearance of links in TLF text created using the Flash CS5 GUI? Can anyone provide an example? I have tried several meant for TLF text fields created via AS that have no effect on those already on stage.

One of them shows slides.They're swf's loaded dynamically from a remote server at run-time.My slides are both re-sizable by the end user and animated.This is easy on the PC with all the Flash support.For the iPad I use the Adobe Flex IOS packager.Gets me just about everything I need - except swf's dynamically loaded at run-time.Apple's terms of service do not support it.So I'm relegated to flattening slides into static images which don't scale well when users re-size them and obviously don't show animations.
If I built a native IOS app with XCode I could probably achieve this with KeyNote or something alike.Don't have the time or resources.Has anyone knowledge of a sneaky way to achieve this aesthetic via the Flex IOS packager? Is there some inventive way to sneak swf's in or use another image format like animated gif's or something else I'm not thinking of that might scale well?
I'm just starting out with my first Adobe Air project (I'm a pure AS3 developer by trade).I'm planning to build an image editor which supports layers. I'm wondering what the best way would be to store an entire project including layer data (images) to a users hard disk.I'm wondering if there is any pros/cons in creating a custom file format for my application. The idea is I will be able to store an entire project in a single file. This will be done by writing meta data to the file's header such as the image dimensions, layer names, layer data offsets etc...I'm trying to be mindful of the issues which might arrise such as maintaining backwards compatibility after adding new project features/meta etc.I guess I'm asking whether people have any advice or experience with creating a custom file format for Adobe Air and if there are any other 'out-of-the-box' solutions to saving 'complex' data to a users hard disk.

In this movie clip I have drawn a text field (area? well TEXT) using the plain "Text Tool".
After selecting the text, and after I have entered "0" to be displayed, I edit its properties. It's Instance Name, defined at the very top of the list I have written "score". The text engine is TLF Text and the text type "Read only".
When I have made a instance of the movie clip using AS3 I can't get the value of the text instance named "score" - when calling something like trace(getChildByName("score")) in the constructor I just get null.
I want to be able to get the value of the text "score", and I would also like to change its value.
Just how do I get the value from ActionScript? I don't want to have to create the text progamatically and position it, and I doubt that I have to.
i cant import the image without losing a huge amount of quality. a friend made this image using Illustrator, and i am trying to incorporate it into a Flash banner.i have numerous images already being used in my Flash movie banner, and all of them have been very easily imported, resized, and animated. here is the image im attempting to use.the Flash banner is am working with can be found at the top of the page at this address.URL..
ive tried to import it to my movie as a GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, after using Fireworks to successfully edit the image without losing any quality. but as soon as i C&P it or import it directly to the Flash stage or library, the quality goes right out the window.
Does anyone know of any good image effects that can be created with flash mx and photoshop?
One that comes off the top of my head is having an image be drawn in with an outline, then having it fill in with white and then have the full colour image fade in. Another is this one [url]...

View 6 RepliesI have a SWF file I created using Adobe Flex and I cannot seem to properly embed it inside an HTML page. If I take another SWF file and use it instead, it works all the time. My SWF file is pretty big (1 MB) while the other one is tiny (25 KB). However, I can wait 5-10 minutes and the server connection is super fast and it still will never load. Is there something I need to do to the SWF to have it start up properly? My SWF almost never runs.

View 3 RepliesI've been trying to open a jpeg image in Actionscript 3.0 which opens without any issues however part of the lettering in the image appears to display as a different colour as if Flash doesn't recognise the colour in the image. The strange thing is that it opens in photoshop as the correct colour but not in Flash. Would the colour scheme that the image uses perhaps need to be added to Flash database of colours?

I would like an image (width 200px, height 600px) to appear on the timeline by being revealed by different sized circles (varying from 30px-5px). I am thinking of using an image mask and creating seperate circles across the timeline, so that when the movie plays, each random sized circle, one after one, will reveal the image at the end. So this is probably going to be quite time consuming. Also, does anyone know of any flash image effects helpers in general, I'm looking for something similar like green socks except for image effects...
