What is this for?? Can I just drop it?
We have embedded a FLASH with tags <object> and <embed> in a JSP page , running in a web application on a Application Server (Weblogic Server).The flash works fine.We note that, as expected, the code inside <object> is replaced at runtime. (when we access to HTML source code we can view an HTML code differente from <object> and <embed> tags).
But we also tried to call the web page through wget (from command line) and we saw that the HTML source code that we receive is ALREADY replaced.When and from who the <object> <embed> code is replaced ?From javascript (runned by browser) or before ?
Recently struggling with weird IE9 + Flash problem I came over multiple advices to use classid and codebase attributes specifically for IE. But couldn't find any explanation of why they might be required or what they simply do. Any good writeup on this topic anywhere? Side-question: Can I just make classid value up out of my head or it should be generated according to some rules?

I'm trying to make a flash video player that has the little section at the end of the video that grabs a link to a few more videos and lists them, allowing you to click on them and going to a new page. I am starting with this video player here. [URL]..He has included a pretty thorough readme file, it has a lot of info but I haven't worked with flash in a long time and feel pretty nubbish. I suspect something like this wouldn't be too hard but I'm unsure. I've attatched the readme file on this post in case you wanna take a look. I do have the videos working perfectly, it's just a matter of modifying it now to make the end.
I did search both the forums, tutorials, and web for something along these lines but to no avail. Basically I need to know how to make that section at the end with the links to other videos, even pointing me in the right direction would be extremely helpful so I could research the things I need to do.
Can I use ems for the width tag when embedding a flash object?

I donwloaded this small sample for jquery [URL] it is a plugin for a webpage and it displays a flash player to capture a qr code through a webcam. It shows the flash player in firefox and chrome, but it doesn't show it in IE. I do have the flash player in IE because i tried the project in this webpage [URL] and it does display the qr code. A person told me to check if it was embeded using swfobject and I checked the .js file of the project and it is embedding it as an swfobject, this is part of the code in the jqery.webcamqrcode.js

I have created 4 dynamic text boxes, one for each of the 4 styles and embedded the characters into each one for the 4 versions of the font. I then wrote some text directly into the boxes on the stage.I created a 5th dynamic box and called it "test". I set the family to VAG ROunded, style:bold (ie just like one of the ones above). I then embedded the characters into it.I added this dead simple as2.[code]THis 5th text box looks NOTHING like the bold one from above, as you can see in the attached image.
View 4 Repliesi have this weird problem. I have a major project, no details needed except that it is split to many SWFs, and so - I would like to use a Shared Library to embed the fonts. Done - sl_fonts.swf loaded, fonts - checked and working, the rest of the SWFs are loaded AFTER (checked by a preloader).
Now - again, I traced the result of the request to the font, it is all like
DEBUG: REQUEST ArialBlack RETURN [class EMArialBlack] (main.swf)
DEBUG: GOT [class EMArialBlack] (loaded.swf)
The loaded SWF file requested for ArialBlack and it seems that it got an answer - EMArialBlack, which is the embedded font's class.
The weird thing is that when I put this return to a TextFormat's .font, it does not really work. I even traced the TextFormat.font after setting it to the return. It actually traced [class EMArialBlack]. BUT when I set this TextFormat to a TextField it does not work? If embedFonts is off, it has no result (it keeps the old _sans placeholder font). If it is on, no text is shown at all.
I have a project that requires me to create interactive schematic maps for rail networks. Something along the lines of London's tube map (Not the tube map itself. Are there any flash libraries out there that can assist with this sort of thing?
View 1 RepliesI've got a couple of TextField initialized in code (as3). They use my embedded font (aharoni), and that just works. But the fonts that i've written directly into the movieclips in flash cs3, just don't work.
When i play the swf on another computer that doesn't have aharoni, the coded TextFields are aharoni, but the textFields in the movieclips that i've written directly are Times new Roman, because that computer doesn't have Aharoni.
I've set the text font to my embedded font.
is there a possibility to embed youtube into my site but see just the player? i want just the mp3 without the movie..

View 5 RepliesI would like to fade in and out and object with the colorTransform-method. When I apply the colorTransform to my object it does fade out the thing but not fade in. At first I set the alpha of the bitmapData to 0 (for the fade in-effect). After applying the colorTransform it does nothing. No fade in. Otherwise when I set the alpha of the bitmapData to 100 and let it fade out it works.
do you know another method for achieving the same goal? BTW: My object (tempScore) is no display object. It is blitted onto a canvas. This is the function that shall colorTransform my object:

I am trying to generate an <object> tag only embed code and cannot get Firefox to pass Flash along the FlashVars values. This seems to work everyplace else that I've tried it but fails in Firefox. Here is a sample of the embed that I'm using:

I'm trying to develop something for Flash 5 Player and nothing seems to work. Currently I'm having trouble with the following bit of AS which works fine if I export for Flash 6. But in Flash 5...no sound. Is there a specific way an mp3 needs to be encoded for Flash 5 or does it not even accept mp3s?

I changed a layer entry of my Flash file by moving around various elements within the layer. I sitll have the original file, too. I'd like to put it back exactly like it was in the original file. How do I replace the changed sprite element from the new file with the original from the old file?

Problem is that hasOwnProperty never, ever seems to return true. Not if the var is defined on GenericDrawable, not if it's defined on a subclass. Is this just not what hasOwnProperty is for? Or could it be a problem with my syntax?
This object is blitted to the canvas by a renderer via the copyPixels method. The object is NOT a display object. It's a Score-object (self made). The Score-object extends an object called BasicBlitArrayObject. The BasicBlitArrayObject extends an EventDispatcher (therefore no display object).I tried to apply several different TweenLite-plugins to my tempScore-object (i.e. TransformAroundCenter, colorMatrixFilter, etc.). But nothing happens. Absolutely nothing.Sometimes I get error messages (when a plugin requires a display object and my object is NOT a display object). So far so good.
According to Greensock (maker of Tweenlite) his engine can tween ANY numeric property of ANY object. So when a plugin like TransformAroundCenter requires a display object for tweening I have to modify the plugin to get it working for my non-display object (tempScore).
