So i have several SWFs in this project and i need to find a way to ensure that only a single instance of one of these SWFs can load. For example, you cannot open 2 different application SWFs in 2 different browsers, or tabs on the same computer at the same time. LocalConnection seemed to be the best solution to this problem, however, we are experiencing problems with Internet Explorer 9.

I wok on desktop Adobe AIR application. It creates .DMG for mac os builds. It is actually command line application. What I want is the ability to call it from command line - add it .../*.app/Content/MacOS to $PATH. Is there any standard way to do it with AIR ? I need it to work on Windows as well.

I'm using CS3 and want to know if it's possible to give more than 1 instance name to a single MC using AS2? The reason I ask is I have a bunch of templates that I want to load (one at a time) into a master swf that will be used for scaling & positioning of movie clips (which data will be saved to an XML file) in all the loaded swf files. I would like to have some code in the loaded clips that the master swf could use for controlling it's movie clips. This code would reassign the clips a second name so the master swf recognizes the clips in the loaded swfs and is able to manipulate them.
The problem now is I have a lot of template swf files with all different named movie clips and changing all of there instance names one by one will take a long time.I imagine that unless the clips were allowed 2 different names and were just assigned a new one, that it would stop any preexisting code from working correctly.
The mc instance called float1 is being multiplied and placed all over the place throughout 5 layers thanks to this code. How can I add ONE SINGLE different instance in the topmost layer? I don't mean just floating there, but in the TOPMOST layer. If anyone did it, could you also tell me how to position the instance in the matrix/layer?

My problem occurs when I try to load multiple images in one class in AS3.[code]My problem with this is, that every complete-method receives the same image. Sometimes they all get img1.jpg, sometimes they all get img3.jpg....I don't have any clue why this is happening.[code]Now the different Bitmaps and Loaders have distinct names and are called within the same method call. The event handlers now are inline.

I know we can do so by using External API or Java or Merapi project but they require that we start 2 different applications ( or I loose the custom chrome of AIR). What I want is that the user starts just one application (i.e a single exe/air).

Was thinking perhaps the quality of the live video stream would be hurt in a sharing situation but am not sure the architecture works like that.
From a development standpoint, I'd like to make one NetConnection instance in my main application file and connect with it. Then, when successfully connected, I'd like to pass that connection into any custom components that need it.
Since there is no way that you can make the flash object transparent, there needs to be some other means by which you can match the background. I thought of maybe creating a ActionScript/Javascript bridge, but I wonder if this is the route to take.

That way I can test my application against the development stream without interfering with the application that manages the live stream.So first I created folders under my application. Say the application's name is test. I created two folders, dev and live. Then I changed my Flex 3 applications so that they would write to rtmp://mydomain.com/test/live/stream. But the application still records the live stream in test, not test/live.[code]
I restarted my vhost. My application still records my live stream into the test folder instead of test/live.So I removed those entries and restarted my vhost.Then I added a folder called streams below my test folder. And I added dev and live subfolders below streams. I saw this on another post somewhere. But this didn't work either.I have not been able to find the configuration element(s) that enable multiple instances in one application.Am I missing a configuration parameter somewhere or is this a bug in 3.5?
I have an application on FMS. When a user connect to FMS it will create an application instance. My question is that if all users that connect to it disconnect the instance will be unload automatically?

I'm tweening a movieclip from startX to finishX. The value of startX varies but finishX is a constant. But as the startX increases in value the animation appears to be quicker. How do I adjust the speed of the tween to ensure a consistant speed regardless of the value of startX?

I had created a flash which load several images and display it using loadMovieClip(). I need the images to load in a specific order according to the information retrieve from a xml file. However, my scripts only works well if it was tested in my local computer. In online environment, the images seems to load in a random sequence. so that the images loads according to the xml order?

Does creating a new instance of an Object that uses an identical name to an older instance, delete the previous instance? Or should the original instance be deleted first? The code uses a ridiculous amount of XML vars. Isn't it less memory intensive to parse the XML and save the properties to an Object, and then delete the XML Object, rather than keep the XML Object around and reference it's child nodes directly? Is it better form to break up a huge XML file (>600lines/3200vars) into smaller chunks?

Something, in turn, extends MovieClip.If adding SomethingMC to the stage within Flash CS3 IDE, is it possible for it's super class (Something) to assign an instance name from a class constant (Something.THE_CONSTANT)?

The above does not work. It throws Error #2078: The name property of a Timeline-placed object cannot be modified. if the instance is assigned a name in the IDE, and it just doesn't work if no name is assigned in the IDE.

Sadly, the URL loads before the sound is finished, making this pretty lame.
How do I ensure the full audio plays before the new URL loads?
Few users of my Flex 4.6 web application are complaining, that the mx.controls.PopUpButton at the right bottom corner of it sometimes opens a List underneath it and is thus unusable (I can't reproduce that myself - probably an unlucky combination of their Flash player and/or font size setting?)
How could I ensure, that the popUp component (in my case it is a spark.components.List) always opens above the PopUpButton?
I suspect, that I should create a skin based on mx.skins.halo.PopUpButtonSkin and assign it to my PopUpButton? And I probably should use the PopUpPosition.ABOVE constant together with the PopUpAnchor?

I still can't reproduce the bug myself, my users aren't very helpful (mostly older folks, playing my card game). I've searched in Adobe JIRA, but couldn't find such a bug.
I wonder, if there is a way to short-circuit that method to enforce opening the popUp above the PopUpButton.
Or if I should put the _list into some container...
When "unloadMovie" is invoked, how do you test to ensure the movie unloaded??
