Flash :: Options To Import An External Model Into Stage3D?

From what I found out by a quick google lookup, the Stage3D support for model import is not the best.

Has anyone tried to do something like this and could provide me with some information on how to do it?

I'm interested in an importer capable of COLLADA/FBX or something along those lines.

Im building a program that queries a database for options and displays the options in a number of comboBoxes. The comboBoxes are dynamically built and loaded via code and added to the stage. I would like to build the comboBoxes into a single movie clip (maybe not the correct wording) so I can use options like tweening and such to make it look better. The code is below.

Compile To Flash Player 11.2 To Use The New Features Like Stage3D?

So there's a lot of great new features supported by Flash Player 11.2, particularly for game development which is great news for myself.

Some reading here. Highlights:

Right-click is enabled now (finally). Much better rendering performance.

This is all wonderful and magical, however I can't work out how to compile to Flash Player 11.2, and can't find much information about it.

In publish settings, this is all I get:

Using Flash CS5.5 Version 11.5.1.349 (latest).

Do I need to wait for CS6 or am I missing something?

What prevents Silverlight MVVM to be implemented like Flex ? Doesn't Silverlight have same capability in event system to do the same? If yes why does Silverlight do things more complicated what's the advantages then ? Is it about using Class Interfaces which are more strongly typed? What are the disadvantages also ? For example as for implementing MULTIPLE VIEWS for 1 View-Model does Flex implementation make it also more obvious?

I have made a 3D model of a cube and imported it into Flash Builder with preFab and away3d as follows:

The 3D model of the cube consists of 6 sides with each their own texture (jpg). You can find the script of the cube in the attachment. Is it possible to rotate one of the 6 sides (or one of the 6 textures) of the cube with a tween from the script above? So is it possible to do tweens into an external file (attached file) from another file (the script above)?

I'm trying to write a 3D game in ActionScript 3.0 using the Stage3D API. I've copied the playerglobal.swc in my frameworks/libs/player/11.0 directory, and modified the frameworks/flex-config.xml file by changing the target-player to 11.0.0 and the swf-version to 13.When I compile my ActionScript 3.0 files using mxmlc I set the options -target-player=11.0.0 and -static-link-runtime-shared-libraries=true. Now, I don't get an error at compile time when importing com.adobe.utils.AGALMiniAssembler or flash.display.Stage3D so I assume that there's no problem with that.

I run the compiled SWF file in Opera, and I'm using the latest Flash Player (version 11.0.1.152) which was publicly released today (cheers ;D). There's seems to be no problem with the player because I can play Zombie Tycoon. However, when I play my SWF file the Stage3D doesn't display; but all the other display objects attached to the stage do display.I believe that there's either some problem with my configuration or my code, but I can't pinpoint it. The code I'm using was simply copied from Labs @ Jam3. I believe that there was some problem with the viewport, so I simply replacedI have been searching for a solution all over the web, but I can't seem to locate it.

I just installed the trial version of 4.5 of flash builder, migrating from 4.0 and I am encountering quite a frustrating problem. For some reason in which I can not peg, FB refuses to compile anything with an import from an external class, like greensock, bulk loader etc. I keep getting a 1172: Definition could not be found for any import from my external class AS3 folder on my harddrive.

Now I did edit my build path in the project and include the AS3 folder there as I usually do in past FB projects. Even code hinting works when typing in the import lines and even making new objects from those imports. But every time I save or try to compile, such errors appear on each one consistently. This is coming from a fresh install of 4.5 btw on any Flash Professional project and I would like to use it but I can't seem to get around such a fundamental problem.

Does Stage3D work on mobile devices? If so - then HOW? I have worked through several tutorials, downloaded SDKs, added tweaky complier directives to profiles and wonked XML files till I am REMOVED blue in the face. I have had success making web based SWFs (from the afore mentioned tutorials) in Flash & Flash Builder - but no luck getting Stage3D to run in an Android Air App. Is there any way to use Stage3D (preferably also Starling) in a Mobile APP? It could be from Flash 5.5 or Flash Builder.

got a really confusing problem with importing one swf in to another. Both swf's are AS3 but each one is coded differently.I have a main swf which has very basic code in. Essentially its just a moving flv with a couple of buttons what just move the user to a different frame to show a different flv file. As it was so simple I didn't set it up using base classes and didn't do any OOP style code (i.e. using methods etc) as it didn't need it. This works fine.

I have now created a new small SWF which does some functional stuff (won't go in to details as it'll take a while). This was a more complex peice of kit so I used classes, external .as files etc (i.e. the approved OOP style way). This on its own also works great.

and now i want to use this quiz ( the swf file ) in a frame of an application i am working on. I want as soon the user clicks on a button to launch the quiz.

I tried any way found on net for importing external swf but it never works.
the buttons of quiz appear in the wrong place of the stage ( at the fla where the swf is loaded in )and nothing else is seen, textfields etc.

Professional :: .SWF Does Not Render After Load Stage3D And DirectX

I have a custom rolled COM component that encapsulates and controls the Shockwave Player, in order to run, and be able to communicate with Flash .SWFs as a UI to my DirectX based game. The component works fine, however my problem is that my flash artist wants to be able to use Stage3D now. After attempting to load a Stage3D .SWF I noticed that the .SWF does not render. I have discovered that this is due to the new hardware acceleration that Stage3D uses, (which due to the HRESULT on my CreateDevice() Call I assume to be DirectX) .

In an attempt to work around this issue I have a few questions, both on Stage3D and the Shockwave Player. The first question is this: Is there any way in flash or through the shockwave control to disable the hardware acceleration in Stage3D? (this would be the least prefered solution as flash finally being based in the video card hardware make everyone happy.) The second question is: Does anyone know if there is an IUnknown GUID, or other way that I can query to get the device/rendering context that the Shockwave Player / Stage3D is using?

I've got Flash CS5.5 and am trying to build a sample Away3D 4 model viewer. I must not have the latest api for fp11, because the compiler comes back with this:
 
"Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: TextureBase"
 
The file "RendererBase.as" from the Away3D library is importing a number of files from the flash.display3D package (including TextureBase), which apparently I don't have.
 
I downloaded the latest debug version of flash player 11, what else do I have to do?

When published, the SWF works fine - but only when it's in the same directory as the external .as file I imported to begin with. Am new to classes and as3, just starting to ge the hang of it, but i not fully, so here is some Q's.Fist of i have a Document class, from it i want to call a function in a separate as file. the only way i know of is to, do an import and then instantiate or go static on it's tookus?

But now i got my hands of some pice of code, that uses separate class files without any trace of import, how do they do this?Also if i want to be able to use all the functions from a separate as file in my document class, just like i do if i extends it, but without extending int, how do we do this? do i always need to go ClassName.function() ? or can we do it like in C++

When I point my code to import an external classes such as:

import flash.display.*;

my understanding is that its referencing something within the flash directory to load up the display classes.

In other instances I create a "com.whatever" directory to store other classes that my code can point to.

Well I was running through the Kirupa tutorial (displaying google maps in flash) and I noticed in the code it says "import [url]..." the swf works just fine but where is it grabbing the google classes from if I didnt create the directory?

I'm testing a few things with the ND2D library (made by NullDesign, engine's source available at github). What I've encountered, is that if I toggle my Flash application to Fullscreen mode, the World2D (or Stage3D / Context3D buried inside it) doesn't auto-stretch to maximize it to the entire screen resolution. Do I need to reinitialize my setup to the new Fullscreen dimensions? What if the stage.scaleMode is set to "NO_SCALE"? Will that affect the dimensions since the stage, although appearing larger, will still retain the same coordinate system and dimensions? How to correctly toggle Fullscreen mode in Stage3D?

I've been asked to create a model of an airport. Very basic. No textures and only simple shapes to represent check in zones, stairs, restaurants etc. It needs to be able to animate from floor to floor in birds eye view and to the outside of the building at an eye level view. It will be an annotated clip that plays following a persons movements. It needs to be incorporated into an adobe air application. I'm not sure even what software i should use for this. bear in mind i don't have any experience with 3D packages like 3DS Max. I suppose its possible in Flash Professional but can imagine drawing it all being a bit of a pain, is there something out there more suited?

What I would like to do is, on mouse over, each mcl could rotate to show its back. The idea is when you click , let's say, Adobe the Adobe logo will appear divided in 6 rectangles and when you go over with the mouse they rotates to show Adobe products.
