I am trying to add some Sprite objects as the contents of an array, and I would like to be able to "clear" them from the stage. I would assume that if there are loaders involved, I need to do
_imgArray[i].close();
_imgArray[i].unload();
And if I am using a sprite, I can do:
removeChild(_imgArray[i]);
None of the above work.
Currently I try:
for(i = 0; i < _localXML.length(); i++) {
var tmp:BMLink = new BMLink(_localXML[i], _bw, _bh, i);
_imgArray[i] = tmp;
_imgArray[i].x = (_bw + _mainpad) * i;
_base.addChild(_imgArray[i]);
But this doesn't work.
The class instances that are populating the array are all extending sprite, but they have their own individual loaders inside w/ progress events etc.
I have a service which returns an Array of ObjectProxy objects. I would like to cast this to a custom object (a value object) and create an ArrayCollection. How can I do this?ited:I am using Django and PyAMF for the backend. I had to write a custom SQL query and I am wrapping the resulting records in ObjectProxy and sending the whole result as an ArrayCollection.Here is my client side code:
[ArrayElementType("SessionVO")]
[Bindable]
private var _list:ArrayCollection;

I have a custom component as an item renderer.In this renderer there is an item called dlFirstChoice.Now when I add more items to this list and force the list to rebuild itself something odd happens.Part of the creation of the renderer I set a default selection for the DropDownlist as follows: dlFirstChoice.selectedIndex=0The problem is once I have more than one item to render from my dataset this property stops working. So if my dataset has only 1 item to render the drop downlist sets itseld up properly, the momment I need to render more than 1 copy of my item renderer, all of a sudden nothing gets set fo
View 1 RepliesI have a Flex tree with an ArrayCollection as data provider. The collection holds an array of CategoryVO objects. Each object can have another array of CategoryVO objects inside it's "child" attribute. This way the tree displays the data correctly. Now I want to get the parent of a specific item, e.g. tree.selectedItem. Using XML as data provider the item parent is avaiable thorugh the parent() method. But I can't convert my data to XML. How can I get an item's parent? Perphaps using the tree's dataDescriptor?
View 2 RepliesI have 2 arrays & 2 checkbox repeaters: the second gets populated w/ items selected from the first. I can add the items no problem. How do I then delete the item if it gets deselected from the first checkbox repeater?

How do I add an item to a multidimensional array? I want to add the price to item2 but I get "push is not a function"
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
[Bindable]
[Code]....
var str:String=cntslst.text;
var results:Array = str.split(",");
for(i=0;i<result.length;i++)
{<mx:NumberValidator source="{result[i]}" property="text" id="cell" />}
Is it possible ?
I have a label inside a repeater (rptInfos), and I have an arraycollection (Texts) that has the translations. The "Texts" content is changing when I change the language, and normally I use {Texts.getItemAt(219}} for example when I need a translated text. But in the repeater I have a translateable column, so I want to use it like this:
<s:Label text="{Texts.getItemAt(rptInfos.currentItem.DictID as int)}" />
but it says "Syntax error: expected a definition keyword (such as function) after attribute , not target".I wanted to translate it in the labels creationComplete event, but than I can forget about binding, so only when reloaded can I have the content to update.
I have a dynamic ArrayCollection that will contain a unknown number of objects of type MyObj:

When the dataProvider for an DataGrid is an array of objects, how do I set each column's dataField to a property of the object.I have an ArrayCollection (say a) where each item is an objectFor example a[i] = data:ObjectWhere the object data has some subproperties - data.name, data.title, data.content etc.I have a DataGrid in which I want to display this data.So I put:
<mx:DataGrid id="entries" dataProvider="{resultRSS}">
<mx:columns>
<mx:Array>
[code]......
Example:
var arr_1:Array = new Array();
arr_1.push({sdate:"2010-02-02",status:"New"});
arr_1.push({sdate:"2010-02-03",status:"New"});
arr_1.push({sdate:"2010-02-04",status:"New"});
arr_1.push({sdate:"2010-02-05",status:"New"});
How can I change element number 3 status to: "Old", without removing it. Just update the status value??
I have a chart and am trying to display the "volume" in a line chart as the primary series & the "temp" as a column chart as the secondary series...(the "compound" will be shown in the datatip):
[{date=Tue Feb 08 19:00:00 EST 2011, volume=1200, 1={temp=-50, compound=helium}, 0={temp=-45, compound=oxygen}}]
I can get the "volume" series to display fine, but cannot get the "temp" series to display...how do I access them? Right now I have:
<mx:ColumnSeries id="secondSeries" xField="date" yField="temp">
I am using Flex to create a small form. All I have at the moment is a List component, that I want to populate with a list of font names.I am getting the fonts using Font.enumerateFonts(true);. This returns an array of flash.text.Font objects.
The Font objects have a fontName property that is a String of that fonts name.My problem is that I can't figure out how to bind the List's dataProvider to the fontName property of each of the Font objects in the Array.Is there a way to do this just with binding? and not creating a new array of Strings by looping through the Font objects?
I have a datagrid that uses an array of objects as the data provider. The objects are essentially key/value pairs:
{ foo:"something"}
{ bar:"hello"}
{ caca:"lorem"}
The datagrid has 2 columns. The first column is the key and the second column is the value. Right now my grid looks like:
My dataFormatter function makes sure that depending on the column (i.e. the dataField value) the correct key or value gets printed out. This works fine for displaying. However, as soon as I try and edit the value field it essentially adds a new value into the object with a key of '1'. For example, if I edit the {caca:"lorem"} object it will then contain the value {caca:"lorem",1:"new value"}.
Is there any possible way I can set the DataGridColumn so that when I edit a value it will update the value associated with the key rather than inserting a new value? I've tried using a custom item editor but it still does the insert. It seems like I need to be able to update the 'dataField' with the actual key value but I'm not sure how to do that.
I have a collection of Objects in an ArrayCollection in my flex page.
What is the best approach to send this data to a Java Servlet?
The object in the ArrayCollection is a VO that consists of an id and message for now. I want a solution that is scalable in case more properties are added later on.
i have a problem accessing the objects present inside an array.
For example,
var array:Array=new Array();
var obj:Object = {};
var int a=1; var int b=1;var int c=1; var int d=1;
[Code]....
Later I am able to get the array length but how can i get the values inside the objects??
One more thing is i am sending this array to php so how can i access the object values inside an array in php.
I put my mc's in an array.I have another array with strings.when the mc is clicked I want to get its position in the mc array and return the string from the same position in the string array.How do I do that?

What I want to do is, when I select an item in the datagrid, the selected item of the dropdown should be the correct one (the one which has the field idCompSuperioara equal to the third element in the selected datagrid row).
I'm creating a mobile app in which I need to show a calendar with months at the top. The months are part of a component that extends from SkinnableDataContainer (and has some custom scrolling/behaviour - which is why I did'nt use a spark list). I need the months to be shown as a 'trapezium' shaped tab and so I'm using a png image as a mask in the item renderer for the component.
When the mask is not applied, it all works well - the months render, the list/data container selection works when I click on a month and so on.When the mask is applied, it renders well, scrolling and everything else seems to work well - but when I click on a month, nothing happens visually. And from the trace statements in my code, it appears list item selection is not changing. Looks like mouse clicks are not working.
Code:
public class TopCalendarMonthRenderer extends LabelItemRenderer {
[Embed(source="/assets/trapezium_alpha.png")]
private static var TrapeziumMask:Class;
private static var trapeziumMaskInstance:BitmapAsset;
[code]...
<mx:itemRenderer>
<mx:Component>
<mx:Canvas>

I have used states in my application.The thing is I have made the first item in my list to be selected. so I gave like this,
if(itemIndex == 0)
this.currentState="selected";
this works fine.The problem is when other item is selected the first item does not change its state,it remains in the selected state until its clicked.My code looks like this,
<s:BorderContainer id="outerCont" width="275" height="100" borderVisible="false"
backgroundColor.normal="#3D3C3C" backgroundAlpha.selected="0.1"
backgroundColor.selected="{data.color}">
My states are like this,
<s:states>
<s:State name="normal" />
<s:State name="hovered" />[code]........
I know how to remove duplicates from an array, but what I'm trying to do is prevent an item from ever being added to an array in the first place if it already exists. I'm pulling in data from an xml feed in a loop, and I thought that searching for that values index would work, but no matter what, the index is always -1. Here's my code:
[Code]...
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the indexOf function, but I thought it was supposed to return -1 if a value did not exist in an array. What am I doing wrong?
Is it possible to trigger Flex Piechart Item click event when a Datagrid Item is clicked.If so can anyone give some example.
View 3 RepliesI have this code to try to acess the values of the array in the arraycollection but it does not work it actually creates a value to the end of the arraycollection. can anyone tell me what im doing wrong i basically whant to modifys the individual arrays in the arraycollection and add Login_user.

I have creating a distributed note taking application in flex, it basically is a notepad I can keep in my desktop tray. When I add notes and goes back to a server and saves it in a database.
To am struggling to design the application correctly, I want to have a Syncing service that polls the webserver for changes and updates an Array of Note objects. The problem is that my note corresponds mxml component, aka SingleNote component. There are four different cases when being, a. a note is updated from the server poll, in that case I want to singlenote to update the settings b. a note is added to the array from the server, in that case a new SingleNote needs to be created c. a SingleNote is added from client, in that case a Note is added to array, and sent back to server d. a SingleNote is change from client, in that case the Note is updated in the array and sent back to server
The properties are SingleNote(Width, X, Y, Text).
I have an array of temporary objects created in a for loop. The objects are of type class "Tile", a class I created. However, it appears that whenever I create a lot of tiles in the for loop, the program slows down indefinitely.
While the array is whiped at a later trigger point, I am thinking that perhaps these Tile objects are not being erased from memory. They are being created on the fly in a for loop, and the array is being reset to "array = []".
Are the objects still in memory or are they cleaned up when the array is set to []?
I've created a navigation system using Flash 3D functionality. It consists of a MovieClip with a rounded rectangle + a text with no-antialias bitmap font. I'm using Tweener to modify the z co-ordinates of the mc to make it "slide onto" the stage. However when the mc is completed animating it is notably blurry (the text at least). I was wondering if it might just be because it's in 3D-space the perspective (which hasn't been modified) is throwing the rendering off. So onComplete of the animation I try assigning null to the z-value in hopes of removing the item from the 3D space. I've attached the package code I'm using to create and animate the navigation feature.

let's say you're passing an object to a function {title:"my title", data:"corresponding data"} how can I get the function to know what the names of the items/sub-objects are (title and data) without specifying them?
