Mar 15, 2010I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems:
If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up... Is there anything now wright in the setup of my set data method?

It will create as many checkboxes at are visible, plus a few more for padding, and then reuse them as you scroll. This is why you need to explicitly manage their state. How can improve it ? I can get them to load, but not sure how to removeChild after 1 cycle of animation and add the new child to follow.

Nov 17, 2010We built a demo for a product we may build. The demo is in flash for FP 9 and is one master clip that loads about a dozen other clips. All these clips are intended to load locally in a browser window (just from the file system - not a server). What we noticed is that the two computers we developed this on (with Flash CS5 on them) show this fine in it's finished form (1 .html page / 1 main .swf - 12 child .swfs in a subfolder).
But on all other computers without Flash IDE installed it doesn't work. It loads the page in a browser and then just shows a grey screen with 5 "loading" dots that just repeat in the middle of the screen. I have not seen this before and didn't build the app - before i start digging into the code (was told maybe a problem with the loader trying to load from the file system as opposed from a URL) I wanted to know what could be causing this?

Animation - Difficulty Creating Animated Skin In Flex 4?
Mar 29, 2011[URL]..the animated glowing effect on the buttons. One, I can't get any mouse events to respond in the skin. I can't seem to find others with this problem. In the below code, startAnimation is never getting called when a mouse over occurs, but the event is apparently getting registered. To test this code, simply add skinClass="ButtonSkin" to a button declaration in your main application, the code below being the ButtonSkin.mxml file.

EDIT I found out why mouse events weren't firing. The button apparently has mouseChildren false by default, which specifically prevents events from firing lower than itself. Using parent.mouseChildren = true; in the constructor fixes this issue. On to the next part of the question: continuous animation.

Mar 19, 2011I'd like to use animated flash buttons in my Flash Builder AS3 project.I have a couple of buttons with onRollOver and onRollOut events on the button swf in Flash. There is no onRelease event on these buttons.I thought that I could embed it in my Flash Builder AS3 class using Embed Source. Then adding it to the stage and add a mousevent click to it.
But this doesn't work. It adds to the stage fine and the rollover and rollout works fine, it just doesn't add the mouse click event to it. No errors or anything, just isn't clickable at all.What I tried was removing the animation in the button and then it does actually work.

Jul 2, 2009I have a problem with XML data loading into a datagrid when the containing swf is loaded into another swf.
I am able to get this to work in other scenarios, however in this scenario it seems to be related to the menu system I am using. The menu is populated from another external XML and when a button is clicked it calls a function to load the swf containing the datagrid into the parent swf. The URL for the swf to be loaded is accessed from the menu.xml. The result is an empty data grid.
I have tried adding a the datagrid component to the parent swf, however this dows not solve this issue.

Sep 5, 2010I'm new to flex/flash cs5, but am an experienced coder, and am trying to help a friend get a site built quickly so they can graduate. They would like their image gallery that displays their portfolio to have:thumbnails floating around slowly and bouncing off of one another - mouse hover would freeze and then resume animation after the mouse leaves - when clicked the thumbnail would grow to the full size image and be displayed in the same window as the floating objects Something similar to whats found at: Flash and Picasa gallery with those other features would be perfect, but without the Google RSS aspect of it. Might anyone know where I could be pointed in the right direction for accomplishing this? Or possibly could be given technical names for the effects I'm trying to implement so I can look them up easier? Perhaps even a link to download something with the floating/bouncing element for the thumbnails, then I could figure out the code for the other effects needed.

Aug 11, 2011I have a TabNavigator, and each tab is a Module. One of the modules is labelled Units and the full code of the module is posted in this post. There are several problems:
1) Forms are not populated with data from the datagrid selection.
2) Selecting a row and clicking delete gives the very-common error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
A trace on the valueObject unit within the selectionChangeHandler function gives NULL. Why? Note: In other modules (other tabs of the TabNavigator), I have DropDownLists populated with units. This means that the valueObject Unit is defined in the other modules. However, valueObjects should be private to modules, and not shared.

Feb 4, 2011i have a problem using the itemRenderer functionality. When using an ArrayCollection the visible Data in the DataGrid using the itemRenderer will be rendered just fine. But if i start scrolling the entries are repeating in the cells using the renderer. The cells are not filled with date according to the id. What mistake i'm doing here.

Feb 12, 2012I'm using Flex 4 and I need to render the data that resembles HTML Table with row span in a Flex component.My inclination was to use a DataGrid but I believe that rowSpan is not supported for that component. I looked at the AdvancedDataGrid but the user does not want to have a tree-structure in any of the columns.
