I'd like to add some functionalities to the right border of my ADG component tothe user resize and potentially do more stuff. Is there a skin for that border? For instance, how would you make it wider, or add a handle that perhaps animates when you hover over it?

It needs to be done in actionscript as I am trying to skin a flex mobile button. Here is what I have so far: (It does very little, only changes the background color)

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of documentation for skinning Flex mobile components purely in actionscript. How do we add a border for example?
I have an old Flex app build with the Halo library. Now that Halo was changed to mx library, it makes the old Border component stop working and I'm unable to build the project anymore. Even when I try to change the library to MX, the Border cannot build.
View 1 RepliesWith the Flex 3 SDK you simply needed to set the borderThickness style to 0, or set borderStyle to none. With the Flex 4 SDK ad the Spark theme, this has no effect.
View 5 RepliesI'm having issues with implementing a flex button componentI have applied a CSS style to button and set border-color to, say #555555.So far, it works as expected.Then, when my application is resized, the border of the button component becomes blurred and its width automatically changes from 1 pixel to 2 pixels, which doesn't look very well.hen I maximize the app again, after the border is blurred, the buttons' border becomes 1 pixel and looks nice.

I am wanting to highlight either the maximum or minimum value in a row or column.I'm not bothered how they are highlighted - be it the backround changed, the font colour changed or just making it bold - I just want that particular cell to be different to the others.What I'm struggling with is finding the cell with the maximum (or minimum) value and then changing it's appearance.In one grid I want to compare across the row, in another accros the columns.
View 1 RepliesI have an AdvancedDataGrid which Im attemping to update with data from a web service that I poll once very 10 seconds. Im using a HierarchicalData object to provide data to the grid. The update seems to work fine, except that on each update, any nodes that were expanded are collapsed when the grid is refreshed. Stranger still, when I dig down into the bowels of the thing and look at the contents of the HierarchicalCollectionView that backs the grid, I can see that the openNodes property correctly contains the nodes that I opened, but those nodes are not shown as open on the grid...the state seems inconsistent.

I want to create a panel (or any other component) inside a component that has a 5 pixel border on all sides, but scales fully when the window is resized. I know I can set width to "100%" to make it resize, but that gives me no borders. If I put it to "95%",I have borders, but they scale annoyingly. Also, that only works for borders on the right or lower bounds, and not to the left or upper sides.Is there a convenient way to do this without having to write tons of resize-code (in which case I will not bother and just accept bad rescale behaviour, as it is for a private pet project).
EDIT: I know that I can just overwrite the display handling and set the positions manually every frame. I wondered if there is a cheap way to do it in the mxml-structure, along these lines:

Coming from C++ and Java, I am intrigued by the option of setting something to "95%" and let the library work out the details, instead of having to write many lines of code, just so my text-area always keeps a 5 pixel distance from the border, but scales with window width.If there is no easier way to do it than figuring out pixel sizes by hand and setting the coordinates.

In one condition we have to click on a button and open a new tab, on this tab we have to add an existing mxml component and show it in the tab.We are using parsley as the framework. Inside the mxml component test.mxml(that is shown in the tab) i am configuring it with parsley using the tag.Now when i add the instance of this test.mxml i am getting an exception. I am deriving this test.mxml instance using teh parsley context

context.getObject(id of component) as DisplayObject and adding it to the tabNavigator...
But i am getting exception when i try to grab an instance of a view using parsley context. How do i get an instance of a view or component that is configure through parsley using the parslye context.Also the problem is occuring becuase of the view injection..because i get a parsley excepiton on startup of the application stating that there is some problem in the context.

I am injecting two properties (question and answer) to the FaqItem component from an auxiliar file (using BabelFX) that depends on the id of the FaqItem, but it is only working when I choose the second option. If I use the first option, I get a child but with the text in question and answer fields is empty. I need to use the first option.
The project I'm working on requires older libraries that extend mx components (such as TitleWindow and TabNavigator), I can't use what I know about Spark skinning directly. However, since the project is being programmed using the default Spark theme (with my modifications on top) rather than the Halo theme, I apparently don't have access to the styles I need (namely backgroundImage and contentBackgroundImage which apparently require Halo to be active). Simply setting Halo to be the theme will break other things, not the least of which my own theme.
Plans are in the works to replace the older libraries or at least patch them better to Flex 4, but as of right now, I need a way to style/skin these components without modifying them directly. It would be ridiculous to be unable to add a background image to a TitleWindow's content area! I've searched the internet high and low all day and tried countless variations of styles, skins, selectors, and combinations thereof with no luck. How to add a background image to the content of a mx TitleWindow while using the Flex 4.1 sdk?!
I have a flex application and I want to add a new custom component with action script at runtime. This works fine. I have created my custom component and added the following code:

But my problem is the fade in effecto is not working. I know I've declared the effect correctly because if I use it in another component (like a panel) it works fine.
How can I add an MXML component as a child of the main application using ActionScript. It's not possible to instatiate it, is it? Assuming that behind every mxml file stands an actionscrpt3 class, I tried to import it but id didn't show up.

What I want to do is add a border on the image that I load into my scroll bar via XML on the rollover. So when I rollover the image a border appears around it. I created a movie clip of the just the border and I am having trouble getting it to appear on all my images when I rollover them. I am not sure how to fix this. How can I do this?

I want to add a border around my mask. I don't know if I can add the border directly to the mask or if I need to create something new and position it. I imagine if the border was part of the mask it wouldnt show up? Anyway I added lineStyle to my roomMask and I get this error that doesn't make any sense to me:1061: Call to a possibly undefined method lineStyle through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite.

I'm new to Flex and am porting a pure Flash/AS3 app to Flex 4.5. I've created a custom MXML component based on BorderContainer

and it would work well, but here in Flex 4.5 I don't know how to do this.Also I've noticed that there is a dropShadowVisible="true" attribute, but not sure if/how it can be used for my purposes.And I'm not sure if scaling up/down a custom component is allowed in flex or I probably should use "Flex Effects" (but how?) and also set disableLayout="true"?

I have a TextArea component instantiated and added to the display list programmatically via ActionScript 3 code (not AS2, which is all I could find reference to on the net about this).
How to disable the border so it doesn't show around the TextArea component? I've tried a bunch of things, like for example:
myTextArea.setStyle("border", "false");
and
myTextArea.setStyle("borderStyle", "none");
I have been using the tutorial on the Photo Slideshow Using XML and Flash, and think it is fantastic. It is really clear and easy to follow. However I have encoutered three things with it. Firstly I would love to be able to add a border around each thumbnail accross the bottom, that would change color when the user rolls over the thumbnail.I would also like to be able to highlight which thumbnail is currently being shown as the top image.The third issue I have had is when a user moves the mouse to the right of the first image, it scrolls about 5 pixels to the right even though there is no other image before it.
