I have been stuck on this for far too long. I think it's simple so I must be misunderstanding something. I want these to display across the full width of my flash app. When I shrink the width of the flash player I want a scrollbar to appear. At the moment no scroll bar is appearing.

View 2 RepliesI am building a text editor in Flex using the Text Layout Framework. So I have a Canvas in which I display the content of a TextFlow. I would like to show scrollbars in the canvas, so that I can use the scrollbars to scroll throught the content.
However, the width and height of the 'composed' text layout is equal to that of the canvas, so it is not a matter of just turning on the scroll policy.
Somehow I am not able to find the full height and width of a full composition of the TextFlow.
adding the TextFlow to the canvas: rawChildren.addChild(_textFlow.flowComposer.getControllerAt(0).container);
Anyone knows what is the best way to add a scrollbar here? Or how to figure out the full height of the TextFlow?
This is the setup. I have created a timeline with a playhead. When my playhead is dragged I would like the timeline to scroll with the drag.
So far, the only way I can do this is by setting clipAndEnableScrolling to true. But in this case I lose the scrollbars(not to mention the impact on my view). So what I would like is to set this property to false and dynamically affect the horizontal scrollbar's position, in other words enable scrolling without the clipping.
I'm pretty sure my dynamic mxml layout must give me two scrollbars (horizontal and vertical) but it only shows vertical one.

I am trying to increase the height of container with increase in the number of contents inside the container. Like in my case i m using tileList inside tabNavigator , when I put contents inside the tileList, the height of tileList does not increase beyond vertical height of the viewport. It puts scrollbar on the container. Inside the mxml component test.mxml(that is shown in the tab) i am configuring it with parsley using the tag.Now when i add the instance of this test.mxml i am getting an exception. I am deriving this test.mxml instance using teh parsley context

But i am getting exception when i try to grab an instance of a view using parsley context. How do i get an instance of a view or component that is configure through parsley using the parslye context.Also the problem is occuring becuase of the view injection..because i get a parsley excepiton on startup of the application stating that there is some problem in the context.

I am injecting two properties (question and answer) to the FaqItem component from an auxiliar file (using BabelFX) that depends on the id of the FaqItem, but it is only working when I choose the second option. If I use the first option, I get a child but with the text in question and answer fields is empty. I need to use the first option.
The project I'm working on requires older libraries that extend mx components (such as TitleWindow and TabNavigator), I can't use what I know about Spark skinning directly. However, since the project is being programmed using the default Spark theme (with my modifications on top) rather than the Halo theme, I apparently don't have access to the styles I need (namely backgroundImage and contentBackgroundImage which apparently require Halo to be active). Simply setting Halo to be the theme will break other things, not the least of which my own theme.
Plans are in the works to replace the older libraries or at least patch them better to Flex 4, but as of right now, I need a way to style/skin these components without modifying them directly. It would be ridiculous to be unable to add a background image to a TitleWindow's content area! I've searched the internet high and low all day and tried countless variations of styles, skins, selectors, and combinations thereof with no luck. How to add a background image to the content of a mx TitleWindow while using the Flex 4.1 sdk?!
Coming from Robotlegs/PureMVC, I am pretty familiar with the concept of the view mediator, i.e. a component that pretty much listens to events/requests coming from the "dummy" view and makes a further request, sends an application-wide signal/event, executes a command, etc, based on the request from the view. Can the host component idea introduced in Flex 4 be considered a the same as a mediator? The only thing that slightly bothers me is that host components are still considered views, because they extend SkinnableComponent or any of the classes that further inherit from it. In my view, the mediator should be completely left out of view logic.
Nevertheless, I do not want to write a skin, a host component, and a view mediator for that host component, because that would be quite an overhead, and would lead to more complexity rather than abstraction.Should I use host components as mediators, and put application-level logic there, for instance application level event dispatching?
I have a flex application and I want to add a new custom component with action script at runtime. This works fine. I have created my custom component and added the following code:

But my problem is the fade in effecto is not working. I know I've declared the effect correctly because if I use it in another component (like a panel) it works fine.
How can I add an MXML component as a child of the main application using ActionScript. It's not possible to instatiate it, is it? Assuming that behind every mxml file stands an actionscrpt3 class, I tried to import it but id didn't show up.

I have the columns being built and they display properly, however when I get to adding the rows is where i have issues. the follow code snippet shows iterating over all of the columns and adding a value under each of those columns to an object (to make a complete row) and then adding that to the ArrayCollection that later gets set to the dataProvider for the AdvancedDataGrid

my issue is that when "head" has a value of 0, as in the column title is '0', the item is added at position [0] instead of at 0 as a string.
I looked up some examples and tried with:
chartItem.head but that just assumes the column title is 'head' instead of grabbing the value of the head var
