ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding Border To Movie Clips?

Jan 15, 2009

I have a scrolling image strip that loads images from xml. I was wondering how I could attach a border to the movie clips that the images are loaded into. I know how to use the drawing API, but I can't seem to attach a border to each movie clip. I'm posting the code below.

Code:

cliparray = [];
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading JPG Images Into Movie Clips, Then Drawing A Border Around Them?

Aug 26, 2009

i am loading JPG images into movie clips, then drawing a border around them with this code:

Code:
var frameColor:Number = 0xffffff;
var lineThick:Number = 1;[code]..............

i am resizing the movieclips (and thus the contained pictures) down to 160 x 120, but those pixel values didn't work in my lineTo statements. i multiplied them by 3, using 480 and 360 and it works better. however, the behavior isn't consistent. i am attaching a picture so you can see how the border is too tall on some of the images.so, is there a better way to use pixel dimensions with lineTo? does the scaling factor between flash vector units and pixels change between movieclips depending on what content i load into the movie clip?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding New Movie Clips With Dynamic Data

Dec 30, 2011

I'm currently working on the gift cards section of a flash website for Discovery Clothing based out of Illinois. So far I have had success with every function but getting the "Add Another card" feature to work. What I would like to accomplish is displaying the input data from the Flash UI elements in a new Movie Clip to the left and then have them repeat the process to add another card. After which they would hit the 'purchase' button and see two separate items on their PayPal checkout. I was wondering if anyone might know how to do this. You can look at the Gift Cards section for yourself by visiting: [URL] then click on the "Give a Gift" wallet in the center.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Adding JPG Images As Buttons Or Movie Clips?

Aug 27, 2008

Using an XML file, I am pulling a series of JPG images from my hard drive onto the stage. Each of these images will need to have different mouse events placed on them that will take the user to another part of the movie, or perhaps to a different scene.

The attached code successfully pulls the images to the stage -- as JPG images -- and spaces them. What i need to do is make each of them a
button or movie clip, each with a specific action (information which can be gleaned from the XML).

Eventually, I'll need to show images from this XML file based on user-selected criteria via some check boxes. And I'll also need to build some kind of "show next 9 images" and "show previous 9 images" functionality.

Flex :: Skinning Button In AS - Adding Border?

Jul 29, 2011

I've just started playing about with skinning and am finding it harder than anything else I've come across in Flex 4 Mobile. It needs to be done in actionscript as I am trying to skin a flex mobile button. Here is what I have so far: (It does very little, only changes the background color)

package skins {
import flash.display.GradientType;
import flash.geom.Matrix;
import mx.utils.ColorUtil;
import spark.components.supportClasses.StyleableTextField;
import spark.skins.mobile.ButtonSkin;

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of documentation for skinning Flex mobile components purely in actionscript. How do we add a border for example?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding Border Around Thumbnails In Photo Slideshow Using XML And Flash

I have been using the tutorial on the Photo Slideshow Using XML and Flash, and think it is fantastic. It is really clear and easy to follow. However I have encoutered three things with it. Firstly I would love to be able to add a border around each thumbnail accross the bottom, that would change color when the user rolls over the thumbnail.I would also like to be able to highlight which thumbnail is currently being shown as the top image.The third issue I have had is when a user moves the mouse to the right of the first image, it scrolls about 5 pixels to the right even though there is no other image before it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Adding Fancy Border To Scotty's Image Gallery?

Feb 16, 2007

I'm encountering a weird glitch when I try to use a more complex image border: the image container and the text caption both jump into place at the last moment. A bad effect. All I've done is add two more variables, "w2" and "w3" to the code:

Code:
var w = container._width+spacing, h = container._height+spacing;
var w2 = container._width+space2, h2 = container._height+space2;
var w3 = container._width+space3, h3 = container._height+space3;
border.resizeMe(w, h, id);
border2.resizeMe(w2, h2, id);
border3.resizeMe(w3, h3, id);

The only way I can find to keep the border shapes in correct proportion is to create 3 different border clips and apply the "resizeMe" easing function to each of them.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 - Attaching Movie Clips To Already Attached Movie Clips?

Jun 5, 2011

As most of you don't know, I've been creating an rpg game. And, after several tries of art making, etc, I have finally moved back into coding the game. And now, I'm stuck on the equipment system idea. At first, I thought I would just place a bunch of goToAndStop's for each movie clip to go to a frame that has that certain armor piece. This was my first idea for an equipment system. However, after doing some research, and realizing how much lines of code could be saved, I started looking into simply adding and removing movie clips from the character as my new equipment system idea. Now.... on to the problem.

Basic want/ overall achievement wanted: Create an equipment system, which will basically attach movie clips (items) onto characters, which themselves will already be attached movie clips on the stage.

Problem: What is the exact code to do this? And Is there a better way to do this for an equipment system (a less laggy or more efficient way perhaps that I'm not seeing; Check the code below to get a better idea of what I'm talking about)?

Part of the code (or basic idea of code; see comments for extra details

code:
//Don't worry I have an OnEnterFrame function here;
//attachedObj= the character; figure= the MC name of the character;
attachedObj = attachMovie("figure", "figure"+1, 1);

ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating / Using Movie Clips Outside Of Movie Clips

Aug 18, 2005

Here's what I'm trying to do (in example form): I have a movie clip called "dude". Dude is animated to walk around, then drop a cigar (all inside the movie clip). But the problem is, dude moves, so if you try and move dude as the cigar is dropping, the cigar moves with him. So what I want to do is create a new movie clip instance called "cigar" OUTSIDE of the movie clip dude right as he's dropping it, so that you can move him without moving the cigar. Get it? I've attached another helpful animation to explain.

What I have right now is, on the 13th frame of dude, a few lines of code that create and place an instance of cigar. In that frame I also have an invisible instance of cigar for me to duplicate. Inside of the cigar movie clip is the animation that makes it fall to the ground. I need to change that code so that the instance of cigar is created outside of the movie clip dude. Here's the code I have now (inside of dude, on frame 13):

ActionScript 2.0 :: Empty Movie Clips And Duplicating Clips

I've been trying to reproduce an animation effect I've seen on the Armani website, but I'm stuck trying to duplicate an empty movie clip with image loaded into it. The duplicates exist and I can move them, but they are invisible. Since the duplicates reside on depths above the intitial clip I'm confused about why they are invisible. The duplicates are scripted to follow behind the initial clip - each offset by 30 pixels (though I don't have that working perfectly).
