I have an air application that loads a swf ( built in flex ) , this swf loads moduls and basicaly my air application is a testing environment for this swf .
when i run it in flex environment ( eclipse ) it runs fine , when i run it from my programs ( as an air program ) it gets stuck , what i was thinking is that it has to do with security issues because it gets stuck when my main swf try to loads the moduls .
I just updated my AIR runtime to 3.0 and noticed that my AIR application doesn't work anymore. So I tried to debug it it with Flash Builder, but when I run it there, everything works just fine. So I uninstalled the AIR runtime completely but noticed that I can execute my AIR app within Flash Builder still just fine. So the AIR runtime used within Flash Builder seems to be a different one than the systemwide installed AIR runtime. How Do I chose within Flash Builder which runtime to use and how do I update this runtime?

1. For in-browser applications, you are running the debugger version of Flash Player.
2. For network debugging on a mobile device, you have a reliable network connection to the device, and port 7935 is open on your machine's firewall.
I have developed a flex project
It brings out the result from an xml file through an url.
It works when i run from flex builder..
I had made a copy of swf file of that mxml file and run seperately by keeping in my desktop.. No values are fetched from the url... What is the solution for this...

In flash, is it possible to have your application check that the environment it is running on is "recognized". If so, how do you go about doing it? I want to put my swf on my website and prevent people using it on their site.
View 1 RepliesI have a pure AS3 project created in Flash Builder and I am trying to use fl.controls.Slider. I decided to link the fl library as a SWC. I downloaded one from here and included it in the project Library path. And then I instantiate the slider this way (this is in the main Sprite):

I uploaded the PHP and Flex files to my internet server, and the app. works fine. My question is: How can I make the same app. work in Adobe AIR? We are using flex for same. (Although I know flex is meant for web application and air application is best suited for desktop clients, but due to some build issues we can't go for air applications). Now according to our use case we required to read file from local file system which is not allowed in flex application due to sandbox policy. To override it we had planned to use it in local mode (i.e. running from local file system instead of deploying in web container). So after running application in local mode it bypasses sandbox policy and allows to read local file. Eventually we requires remote services call (either using web services or blaze ds) also in our application. To avoid sandbox restriction for network access in local mode we are planning to explicitly grant network access permission to our flex application.
View 2 RepliesI was running my application from Flash Builder 4.5.1 without any issues. (It is a Flex application that connects to .Net Web Services). However, something has changed recently in my configuration or project, because when I try to run the app with the play or debug button, I just get a grey screen. I can't even stop on any breakpoints. Eventually (maybe 30 seconds), a message pops up like so: 'The Flash Builer failed to connect to the running application. Please make sure that you are running the debug version of Flash Player...'

Some of my Flash application components require to intercept Ctrl + F4 keyboard events. Unfortunately, the KeyboardEvent is not caught when running the app under IE since it is conflicting with the IE native shortcut (closing the active tab). Is there a way (ideally relying on Flash principles) to intercept such keystrokes?

The problem: The scaling works perfectly when we run in the local machine ( Flexbuilder). But when we deploy it to the server its like scaling never existed.. The requirement: when user maximizes the window or minimizes it, the Flexbook should be resized to fit the screen.

View 4 RepliesI'm a GIS Analyst that was moved to an Analyst Programmer position. This has been a hard transition for me as I don't have much of a programming background, but I was thrown into it. 'm working on a Flex app inside a jsp page. Essentially it is a grid 3x2 that has images and text. What I am trying to do is have more than one titleWindow reference in this page, so that when an image is clicked a titleWindow is opened. (If anyone has a better idea, especially if it has to do with a hover I am very open to that!) Currently I have it working for one image. However, when I try to add a second function it errors on me. "Error 1021: Duplicate function definition" Below is the entire code for the main page that calls up the titleWindow. The code below is what gives the Error 1021.

Is it possible to get somehow list of running applications/processes and, while running in background, check which process is active?
Additionally - if somehow, the answer was yes, is it possible to react for change of active window / application react just as if it was Event, or bind to it custom event (e.g. Event.SystemActiveAppChange)?
EDIT: Due to probable missunderstanding, I mean local applications - on your win/mac/linux machine - I would like to (in process of learning of language) track what apps I use the most, make a little graph maybe?
So, the point is: in AIR app, developed in FLEX, I would like to get/list all running applications/processes, as well as which one is active (on user's PC/Mac/Linux)
How to develop and compile a Flex application without Flex Builder?
View 2 RepliesI've built a simple application in Flex Builder 3 with some trace() calls. It's an "ActionScript Project", no MXML or AIR involved. I don't run the app from within Eclipse, I just open the generated html file with Firefox.
I'm using the Flash Player 10 Debug version. I've correctly set mm.cnf to log trace output, following the official instructions. A flashlog.txt file is generate in the appropriate location.
Despite all that, trace output is not shown in the log file. What am I doing wrong?
(I suspect it's a compiler option, but I can find no such option in the project options in FlexBuilder)
(If I do run the app from Eclipse, by pressing F11, I can see trace output but only inside Eclipse, not in the log file)
In my Flex 4.6 web application I use mainly spark components, but there is also an mx-component - a PopUpButton extended by me (the source code is below).Users report problems with that button, but I can't reproduce any - since weeks.
I've tried replacing mx:Menu attached to it by a s:List but it hasn't changed anything. I suspect there is a "null pointer exception" or some other failure, that I don't hit when testing myself...
My question is: why does Flash Builder reports warning about my custom button as if its methods would be private or not present?

When creating an Actionscript Project in Flex builder 3 an application class is automatically created and dropped in the root of your source folder. In my case my source folder is called src/.Is it possible to change the default application class to a class which is not directly in the root of the src folder? It seems when right-clicking on class files which are in sub packages the 'Set as Default Application' option is not selectable.Is this done on purpose by Adobe to enforce all pure AS projects to have their application class residing in the top-most package?

View 1 RepliesI'm new to developing iOS applications and my school gave me approximately 5 months to develop an iPad application. I have no knowledge or practice on Objective C so since Flash Builder 4.5 allows the development of mobile applications (and I have experiences with Flash Builder), I decided to develop my application on Flash Builder instead.
Everything is going fine until I was told to include a SplitView in my application. I implemented a List on the left side of the application. Clicking on any of the list items will navigate the user to a to another view but i also included and retained the list on the left side of the new view in order to simulate a "SplitView".
Initially it felt as though it will do the job of a SplitView like how it does when I attempted it on XCODE but it doesn't look or feel natural. I found this video which shows that it is possible to create a SplitView on FB but I've cracked my brains and I really can't figure out how it is done.
