Flash - Application Compiled By Flex Builder 3 Does Not Trace

I've built a simple application in Flex Builder 3 with some trace() calls. It's an "ActionScript Project", no MXML or AIR involved. I don't run the app from within Eclipse, I just open the generated html file with Firefox.
I'm using the Flash Player 10 Debug version. I've correctly set mm.cnf to log trace output, following the official instructions. A flashlog.txt file is generate in the appropriate location.
Despite all that, trace output is not shown in the log file. What am I doing wrong?
(I suspect it's a compiler option, but I can find no such option in the project options in FlexBuilder)
(If I do run the app from Eclipse, by pressing F11, I can see trace output but only inside Eclipse, not in the log file)

New AS3/Flash Builder user here. I'm debugging an AS3 project using Flash Builder 4.5, and debug version of Flash plug-in in Firefox. I'm using a trace() command, but it's not outputting anything in the Console window of Flash Builder (is that where it's supposed to place stuff?). However, I'm wondering why the trace() command is even needed because the Variables tab in the debug perspective contains all the variable values anyway. Is the trace() command redundant or otherwise useful somehow in this environment, or is it intended for command line debugging, etc. (non-Flash Builder environment).

Im using Flash Builder 4 on the Mac and I have a worrisome problem: The compiler is sometimes not detecting my code changes.For example I might write some code, compile and run, then add some logging statements, but they will not print. After a clean compile everything runs as expected.I cannot see a pattern to the exclusion of changes. I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem?

I compiled a simple AS3 project using Flex 3.5 (also tried Flex 4.1) to create a small swf which draws a simple red square on screen. Nothing too complex that requires special flashplayer support (see code below)

and tried to load it into a AS2 swf I have compiled using Flash CS4. But that just didn't work. I don't get any errors when loading and the AS2 swf can load any swf, either compiled in AS2 or AS3 by Flash.

I was running my application from Flash Builder 4.5.1 without any issues. (It is a Flex application that connects to .Net Web Services). However, something has changed recently in my configuration or project, because when I try to run the app with the play or debug button, I just get a grey screen. I can't even stop on any breakpoints. Eventually (maybe 30 seconds), a message pops up like so: 'The Flash Builer failed to connect to the running application. Please make sure that you are running the debug version of Flash Player...'

I'm a GIS Analyst that was moved to an Analyst Programmer position. This has been a hard transition for me as I don't have much of a programming background, but I was thrown into it. 'm working on a Flex app inside a jsp page. Essentially it is a grid 3x2 that has images and text. What I am trying to do is have more than one titleWindow reference in this page, so that when an image is clicked a titleWindow is opened. (If anyone has a better idea, especially if it has to do with a hover I am very open to that!) Currently I have it working for one image. However, when I try to add a second function it errors on me. "Error 1021: Duplicate function definition" Below is the entire code for the main page that calls up the titleWindow. The code below is what gives the Error 1021.

In my Flex 4.6 web application I use mainly spark components, but there is also an mx-component - a PopUpButton extended by me (the source code is below).Users report problems with that button, but I can't reproduce any - since weeks.
I've tried replacing mx:Menu attached to it by a s:List but it hasn't changed anything. I suspect there is a "null pointer exception" or some other failure, that I don't hit when testing myself...
My question is: why does Flash Builder reports warning about my custom button as if its methods would be private or not present?

I have installed Flex Builder 3 and Flash Player 10 on my machine.
I don't know where the trace output goes because I just don't see it (I tried debug and output windows).
Also the breakpoints don't hit.

i am using Flex builder 4.5 and my problem is this that this code doos not work, when i used trace(event.target)i get following in result in console, deleteme.ApplicationSkin2._ ApplicationSkin_Group1.contentGroup.VGroup5.button1.And if i replace this long line in 'if' statement code works.(deleteme is the project name). Dont you think it should only say button1 instead of this all long line with all hierarchy , if that is the case then how we can shortend it?[code]

I'm new to developing iOS applications and my school gave me approximately 5 months to develop an iPad application. I have no knowledge or practice on Objective C so since Flash Builder 4.5 allows the development of mobile applications (and I have experiences with Flash Builder), I decided to develop my application on Flash Builder instead.
Everything is going fine until I was told to include a SplitView in my application. I implemented a List on the left side of the application. Clicking on any of the list items will navigate the user to a to another view but i also included and retained the list on the left side of the new view in order to simulate a "SplitView".
Initially it felt as though it will do the job of a SplitView like how it does when I attempted it on XCODE but it doesn't look or feel natural. I found this video which shows that it is possible to create a SplitView on FB but I've cracked my brains and I really can't figure out how it is done.

I want to release my flash application not in release mode but in debug mode to see result of trace() after releasing the app.
I don't care that debug mode makes processing speed little slow.Except for processing speed, are there disadvantages to release flash application which was compiled in debug mode?Is it possible that the app throws exception or Flash Players of the app's users crash due to debug mode?

So yahoo astra has grate compohent for saving inputed data. They show examples of how to use it. But I had not found one capable to solve my current problem. For example user inputed his name. It is saved, but when he comes again he always needs to input at least first latter of his name. so I wonder - how to make Yahoo astra autocompletemanager component to pop up last inputed into it value on application creation complete?

I have a quite different problem with resizing. I have a Flexbook component which uses the middle part of screen (center) with a html header menu and footer. The problem: The scaling works perfectly when we run in the local machine ( Flexbuilder). But when we deploy it to the server its like scaling never existed.. The requirement: when user maximizes the window or minimizes it, the Flexbook should be resized to fit the screen.

I have an air application that loads a swf ( built in flex ) , this swf loads moduls and basicaly my air application is a testing environment for this swf .
when i run it in flex environment ( eclipse ) it runs fine , when i run it from my programs ( as an air program ) it gets stuck , what i was thinking is that it has to do with security issues because it gets stuck when my main swf try to loads the moduls .

I have found some question which refers to my initial question :on xcode Usually resolved in synthesis by :
flushing certificate cache correcting the signing certificate ( using Distribution in replacement of Developper) C checking and correcting the Application ID who was sometimes not the same between the one declared in iTunes Connect and the one in the app.xml file

When creating an Actionscript Project in Flex builder 3 an application class is automatically created and dropped in the root of your source folder. In my case my source folder is called src/.Is it possible to change the default application class to a class which is not directly in the root of the src folder? It seems when right-clicking on class files which are in sub packages the 'Set as Default Application' option is not selectable.Is this done on purpose by Adobe to enforce all pure AS projects to have their application class residing in the top-most package?

when tried to build a AIR application for android using flex builder I did the following steps to do that .plz tell me where the error happened
1.Created Air application using flex builder that produced two type of files .swf and .xml files and cetification file
2.Created apk file from the above files using "Package assisstant pro"
3.then i installed AIR 2.5 run time in my emulator
4.after that i tried to install the apk file that Created from the 'package assisstant pro' then i tried to install the apk file by using command prompt then it show this error "INSTATTION FAILED INVALLID APK" .And also i cann't install other apk file (Sample air for android application apk file that downloaded from the site) that shows the same error,I succeed to install other application's(Say for printing hello world) apk file.[code]

A client is running into some problems with an application, and cannot install the debug flash player, meaning debugging is very hard. Does anyone know of a way to display the system's trace messages in a textfield on the stage for example? This way I could find the error by having it trace to their screen. I suppose a workaround would be to try/catch all over the application but that is not ideal and very cumbersome.

I have deployed this web application in JBoss using Eclipse, so this application is getting deployed in war file.Then I tried to create new 'Flex Project' using flash builder 4.5 and I am stuck in 2nd step where we have to configure Root Folder, Root URL and Context Root.As my java web application is deployed in war, there's no folder to which I can set Root Folder.
