Is there any way to automatically deploy to a server after I build a flex app, and then debug using the remote url ?
This is totally possible in FlashBuilder, but I am highly hoping that it can be done in FD as well.
I am ctrl+ shift + enter on my .fla file. And have put my breakpoint on one of as file. I am opening same swf file in web browser. I have set enable remote debugging in flash. But still not able to go the breakpoint

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to debug a swf in Flash Professional CS5.5, by running the debug-> Debug Movie -> In Flash Professional. When I do I get teh Adobe Flash Player Security window. It says you are trying to connect to and the I.P. address of the server (e.g. 203.22.35.101). I've opened the settings and added that I.P. under Advanced->Trusted Location Settings... that doesn't help. btw: If I run -> Control -> Test Movie -> In Flash Professional it works fine, but then I can't debug.

Is there any way to configure the setup so the Edge server (proxy)is transparent and the end-users only know about the Origin server?I am trying to configure video split streaming with FMS.
View 1 RepliesI love django, and I like flex. Django for it's cool debugging system (those yellow pages helps a lot to find bugs in my code), and flex for it possibilities. Recently I come across a problem. If I create a form in flex and then communicate with the django server, I can't see any debugging info (when the exception happens in django). Not sure, if there is a way to get the debugging info, because it is not accessible in command line (no error output), or in firebug.... Also I tried to create a quick html form, and post same data as I send from flex form, but it's a bit of pain to be honest. Will be happy to listen how do you solve the problem

View 4 RepliesI must say that I am reaching the end of my tether with Flash Builder and Flex. Firstly, I have built this wonderful app that I want to start using but it is data driven meaning that when I built it, I created it on my localhost. The PHP scripts were generated from Flash Builder and I have edited them to make them more secure. I have all my services working 100% and I have this brilliant app, but I can only run it on localhost. I have done everything necessary and installed Zend Framework on both servers, I have configured Zend properly but I cannot work out how to change the mobile app to now read from my remote web server.To me this is useless as I want to be able to deploy this app to others to use when they are out and about. how to change it from looking at a localhost to looking to my remote web host?

I have already put the crossdomain.xml in the tomcat web app root directory to allow all the domains. However, the security error is still shown when I tried to upload the file.
View 1 RepliesI have an Adobe AIR/FLEX app packaged as a native installer application running on the desktop. From there, I need to do the following:
a) stay in the "app:" application sandbox so I can load "file://" JPGs into my mx:HTML control
b) authenticate with my server (CAKEPHP) to get a valid CAKEPHP Session Cookie, and
c) securely GET/POST XHR requests from javascript.
Can I authenticate using something like OAUTH or Facebook Connect without losing the application sandbox? It seems if I redirect from my mx:HTML, I lose my local privileges.Can I authenticate with my server using a different sandbox (remote?) and safely pass the Session Cookie to my application sandbox? Are either of these methods safe against scripting attacks?

I am thinking of writing a subclass of ArrayCollection, similar to ClearToolkit's that can be smart about managing my remote objects when coming back from BlazeDS.I am wondering if it is possible to get Flex to put my collection of objects in my own custom collection instead of defaulting to ArrayCollection? If not, I'll need to pull everything out of the collection it comes in in order to populate my own.
View 3 RepliesI have installed the Remote Debugger, a couple of times, apparently without any problem. When I use the Remote Debugger in AS3, the message appears in Flash output as "Waiting for Player to connect ..." until the timeout. The debugger does not start, by itself. Neither, I can find the Debugger in any folder; like in "Program Files/Adobe/...... etc." It does not show up in the list of Programs, either.

Should I have multiple instances of the applications running on the same server/ deploying the application in diff servers and using a load balancer for routing? If i must have multiple instances, how to do that? On a given day, the application is expected to get around 2000-3000 hits. What are all the factors to be kept in mind while deployment?

View 1 RepliesI have two applications: a client in flex and a server in Java. When I deploying the application inside flex builder with the tomcat server inside as well, everything works fine. But now I'm trying to deploy in apache tomcat outside the flex/eclipse builder and I have a problem.I think the problem is with relative/absolute paths but I do not know how to resolve it.In my Java application I have to access a database and a get a file from it. I use a properties to set a path where I want to download that files like this:pacs.ruta=C:\resources\And then I need to access to that file so in use this code:fin = new FileInputStream(pacsRuta+""+f.getName());where f.getName() gives me the name of the file so I get the path of the file with the path I set in pacs.ruta and the files name.
I do not know why it does not work. I tried to put pacs.ruta=/resources/to associate with a folder in my application but It does not work.Could someone give me an advice? Do you think it is the problem? Because the whole application works fine deploying in a tomcat server outside the flex/eclipse builder but when this code is called the application does not work.
I'm using the RTMFP protocol to publish and play video and audio, but i'm with a little problem. I installed the FMS 4 Development Server in a Windows Server machine located in our local network and it works perfectly. In order to deploy our application, we have a remote server with a fresh install of the Ubuntu 10.04 Server, and the FMS 4 installed in this server. In other server we have the Java and Flex application, which will be used in the client browser.
The problem is that when trying to change the NetConnection url to the remote FMS server, which is the Ubuntu server, the netconnection can't connect to it. When changing to the RTMP protocol it connects, but with the RTMFP don't. I can't find any information in the log files or anything else.

I am writing a game where positions of an object are being exchanged between the two flash clients through a java server. The secnario goes simply like this:
PlayerA ---> Server : "Position X + Position Y+
"
Server ---> PlayerB: "Position X + Position Y+
"
and it works both ways of course.the problem here is that on my computer where i use "localhost" everything is fine and the data is exchanged seamlessly .. when I loaded the server on a remote host the message received strangely turns into something like "Position X + NaN" (i.e. the y position is wrongly parsed by the server), what is weird even more, is that sometimes, the message gets parsed correctly..the server is wrote in java and it is exactly the same source code that works on my machine that fails over the internet
I am using Flash builder 4 (SDK3.5) to create my flex program.I want to deploy this program and load it to a tomcat server.I configure my "flex server" root folder and other parameters in the project properties.The problem is, that i don't know how to make it generic. e.g. my friend's tomcat is installed in other directory on the computer. I know that in eclipse i can run the server and tomcat from the IDE. I can't see how i do it in Flash builder plugin for eclipse 4.

Is it possible to run a Flex client in IntelliJ internally and have it talk to a separately deployed server instance? The server's a java webapp. This will make developing, especially debugging, much easier. What I'm trying to avoid is having to rebuild and redeploy the webapp to get the updated Flex code in it. I want to just build flex and run it against the server.
The flex client is embedded in an HTML page on the server, so in production the users access the client by going to a web page. We're using GraniteDS if that's important.

I'm managed to cobble something together, but it's ugly.I made a copy of our wrapper HTML page and fixed the links to refer to the SWF in target.I setup the IntelliJ run config to point to that HTML page.I set the 'Place SWF file in a local-trusted sandbox' to true
Hardcoded the {server.name}, {server.port}, and {context.root} values in the service-config.xml GraniteDS config file to localhost, etc.
I can mavenize #1, but #3's isn't really a permanent solution. That part is still a problem because I can't check this in.
I have made a very simple RSS display that pulls a XML twitter feed from twitter.com. My problem is that it works locally, but will not work on the server. I have tried adding a crossdomain.xml file, adding allowDomain() method and setting the embed param's allowScriptAccess to always. Still It will not work through a browser.
View 0 RepliesMy client can't store the .swf file on the same server as the referencing html file.I tried using an absolute URL in the html to load the .swf file from a different server, but it doesn't seem to be working, (just a blank page, no errors or anything).I'm using swfobject 2 generator to generate the html page. Works fine if both swf and html are in the same directory, doesn't work when they're not.[code]
View 5 RepliesI have been programming with as3 for the past 4 months and Ive been getting rather good at it. I just recently decided to work with flashdevelop. I notice that there is alot of code that is availible in the flex sdk that isn't available in as3 with flash cs4. Like embedding of assets and such. I've been trying to find some up to date tutorials on how to embed things like xml and so far the tutorials are inaccurate or unclear about how to go about doing so. Ive been trying to find some good books that cover that and havnt been able to.
The books either cover as3 with flash or as and flex builder. Which is more towards working with the mxml. I havnt been able to find any books on how to work with as3 and flex sdk. Which show examples like embedding of xml and so on. I was just curious does anyone know of any good books that cover EVERYTHING there is to know about as3 and the flex sdk. Not so much on flex builder and mxml.
In a sense, I just want to get better with working with as3 projects with flashdevelop. And it would be great if there was books that covered that. Cause lets just face it, We developers sometimes just get sick of searching the web for bits of pieces of things. and its just great to have that one good book that references everything.
