View 1 RepliesI have two applications: a client in flex and a server in Java. When I deploying the application inside flex builder with the tomcat server inside as well, everything works fine. But now I'm trying to deploy in apache tomcat outside the flex/eclipse builder and I have a problem.I think the problem is with relative/absolute paths but I do not know how to resolve it.In my Java application I have to access a database and a get a file from it. I use a properties to set a path where I want to download that files like this:pacs.ruta=C:\resources\And then I need to access to that file so in use this code:fin = new FileInputStream(pacsRuta+""+f.getName());where f.getName() gives me the name of the file so I get the path of the file with the path I set in pacs.ruta and the files name.
I do not know why it does not work. I tried to put pacs.ruta=/resources/to associate with a folder in my application but It does not work.Could someone give me an advice? Do you think it is the problem? Because the whole application works fine deploying in a tomcat server outside the flex/eclipse builder but when this code is called the application does not work.
Executing one of the ant tasks, which launches mxmlc (which in turn uses JVM). I am getting the following output:

By googling on the error message, I've realized that the heap size for the jvm was not set correctly. Tried to examine my environment variables by grep-ing "384" or "java" but got nothing. Where are those parameters taken from?

View 1 Repliesi've installed the Perforce Eclipse plugin successfully in Flash Builder 4.5.however, the only problem i've run into is that whenever i open a ActionScript file (either one that is or isn't checked out) there is no syntax coloring - it's simply a white background with black text.
i've changed themes so that i have a dark background with different colored syntax but Perforce also removes that coloring, although this time it's the dark background with all white text.
I have a Flex application which has to be deployed in some server. The typical form of access would be invoking the URL. Should I have multiple instances of the applications running on the same server/ deploying the application in diff servers and using a load balancer for routing? If i must have multiple instances, how to do that? On a given day, the application is expected to get around 2000-3000 hits. What are all the factors to be kept in mind while deployment?

I am using Flash builder 4 (SDK3.5) to create my flex program.I want to deploy this program and load it to a tomcat server.I configure my "flex server" root folder and other parameters in the project properties.The problem is, that i don't know how to make it generic. e.g. my friend's tomcat is installed in other directory on the computer. I know that in eclipse i can run the server and tomcat from the IDE. I can't see how i do it in Flash builder plugin for eclipse 4.
View 5 RepliesIm the new kid on the block so I apologyze if I'm not doing very well.Everything works fine till the moment in which I set the wmode param of the flash movie to transparent, then the movie completely disappears (it loads, as I can listen at the sounds) but it doesn't show.I would like to have a full background image with the transparent flash movie over it, that's all, if somebody can tell me how to fix this or even a new way to do it, it will be so good!!Here is my code, so simple, by the way:

I tried with flex and java in the backend. In this, I am able to upload files till 100 MB using remote object (blazeDs) where we will read the file as byte array and send it to the java method. If the file size exceeds after that, then I get the run time error in IE.

When i make a small change in Flex code (eg, reposition of a button...anything), and run the project on server, it does make any change on output. Actually it depends on my luck... because it makes change in output randomly.what is is happening? tried rebuild, republish, clean , restart server, restarting the IDE, restarting the computer all available feature i could think. Then i got a Flex service class calling BlazeDS and executing the getCategories java method. Since Flash dosn't seem to understand typed arrays, the result from that method which i get back in flex is a simple array of untyped objects (the mapping dosn't seem to work here, even tought the class category exists in flex and has the same properties).
thats the first thing. but however, i'm converting the untyped objects manually into objects of the category.as class. the second thing is that categories have child-categories within the java object, which are also ArrayLists of the type category.java. the problem about that: my result event object only contains the first level of categories, looking into them the children are allways null. i dunno why they are empty, since they ARE part of the java object category.
and the third thing (the strangest by fast), you maybe noticed i named the properties of the category.java class strange, like idCat and nameTest instead of simply id and name. why that? because the property names of my flex result objects dont seem to change when i change the java objects properties names (result object properties are named "id" and "name" but the java class object properties are named "idCAT" and "nameTEST"). that it REALLY strange, since if i set the properties, like you see at nameTEST = "TESTNAME" it IS recogniced by flex, only the proertyNAMES dont seem to be recognized at all.

Meanwhile, an answer here Flash AS3 animation in Mac vs Windows discusses Flash garbage collection on Mac (likely in Safari) and says that it sucks but it does exist.
So is the first claim about no garbage collection in WebView false or is the WebView plugin distinct from Safari plugin?

When I try to restart I get:

I think fmsadmin is using up all the shared memory, not sure. There are HTTP requests periodically being sent to fmsadmin, could this be a source of memory leak?
The server has 6 GB RAM and there are only about 100-200 connections being used. Runs without issues most of the time, crashes once every few days.What is the shared memory heap and how do I increase it?
I did suppress warnings in flex compiler using "-show-binding-warnings=false". But what I am interested to achieve is to suppress run time warnings (especially binding warnings - since I am getting data in model mostly in XML structures and it is fine for me if its unable to bind to its nested child nodes) in console (I am working on flex on Eclipse with the flex plug in). I think the eclipse e4 SWT project doesn't compile to ABC (ActionScript Byte Code) directly, but first converts Java to AS3 and then the Flex compilter does the rest.Could it be that no one yet wrote a simple Java / Python / Scala AVM2 compiler that can be used as an alternative to the proprietary Adobe Flash Builder (formerly Flex Builder)?I don't mind paying Adobe for a fine producy, but writing Java in eclipse is so much faster and convinent than the half baked adobe plugin suite. are there really no efforts other than haXe?
