I have a components and classes project library. Within the library, flex builder only seems to display content/code assist options for top level classes (e.g. arguments, Array) but not other classes such as VBox. Also, within the non top level classes, class properties are not provided by content assist.
View 2 RepliesIs it possible to make the content assist in Flex Builder to pop up as soon as I start typing and not just after pressing CTRL+SPACE? It does pop up by itself after a '.' (foo.) or a ':' (var foo:). But to get a list of available variables and methods I have to press CTRL+SPACE.
View 4 RepliesI am extending TextField to create my own implementation of it, and there are some properties & methods I would like to simply remove from use, eg:

I would like now to hide setTextFormat from code hinting, so when, in some other class, I type:

And hit ctrl+space I only see setPropertyIsEnumerable(...) and setSelection(...), no trace of setTextFormat(...). But no matter what I do it still appears, I tried @private metatag in asdoc, as well as some made-up (like @remove, @disable, @ignore, @deprecated). Using [Exlude] doesn't work either as, afaik, it works only with mxml. Is there some way to actually accomplish this task? Or am I forever left with useless and redundant code? Some plugin maybe? (I know I can just leave it as is and don't double methods, but, nevertheless, I'd rather have it my way)
I've been having this really annoying thing happen the past few days, that has happened before but not as frequently. I create a project in Flash Builder, import some classes, and then on occasion it keeps erasing those classes. So then I get errors in a lot of my datatypes, have to go back through my document and retype the datatype so that it reimports the class.
I know flash builder can be a bit buggy at times
When building a Flex library project in Flash Builder 4, setting the Include all Classes flag in the library properties tells the compiler to include all compiled classes into the resulting SWC file. Sometimes this flag gets reset or ignored. The .flexLibProperties file looks like this:

I'm building a video player using Flash CS4 (hereby referred to as "Flash") to create the graphic symbols and compiling and debugging with Flash Builder 4 ("FB4"). Here are the steps I take in my current workflow: --Create the graphic symbols in Flash. I've created a few different symbols for the player, but I'll focus on just the play/pause button ("ppbutton") here. --In the Library panel, I go to the ppbutton symbol's Linkage properties and link to a class named assets.PlayPauseButtonAsset that extends MovieClip. I do not actually have an assets package nor do I have a class file for PlayPauseButtonAsset as Flash will create them for me when I publish.
--In Flash's Publish settings, I set the project to export a SWC that will be used in FB4, called VideoPlayerAssets.swc. --After the SWC is created, I create my FB4 project called "VideoPlayer" and add the SWC to my path. FB4 creates the class VideoPlayer in the default package automatically. --In VideoPlayer.as, I import assets.*, which imports all of the symbol classes I created in Flash and are available via VideoPlayerAssets.swc. I can now instantiate the ppbutton and add to the stage, like this:

When i run the application i see the icon but in Flash(Flex) Builder i can't see the images while working in Design mode. Is there any way to enable image visualization in Flash Builder design mode ? or a better way to include resources.
I am using the Flex Builder 3 debugger almost every day and it's starting to be a real pain that the 'Variables' tab in the 'Flex Debugging' view doesn't show local variables, only 'this' is displayed.
Also I can not add Watch Expressions for local variables.
Am I forgetting something here or is the debugger just very limited?
I have some rich text created using the flex (flash builder 4) rich text input control. I want to display at least some of it in a column of an AdvancedDataGrid control.

View 2 RepliesI just upgraded to Flash Builder 4 (beta 2) from Flex Builder 3 which I have been using since it came out. Problem: All the projects that were in my workspace from Flex Builder 3 did not carry over into Flash Builder 4 (e.g. in the "Flex Navigator" view if FB3). Flash Builder 4 now uses the .FXP format to manage projects, but Flex Builder 3 did not. Is there an easy way to get all my projects back into Flash Builder 4?

Do you exclude the workspace .metadata folder but keep the .project and other project specific files? Keep both? Throw away both? Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.
From a video on AdobeTV, I tried to play with example empWeb (LiveCycle Data Services).In Flex Builder 3 (FB3) everything works fine. When I tried this on Flash Builder 4.0 Beta (FB4) it doesn't work. When I replaced original xmlns declarations (2009, spark, halo)with declarations from FB3 (2006) it works. View 1 RepliesI had purshased one licenses for each, flex builder 3 standard as well as flex builder professional. First, I installed flex builder 3 standard and entered the license key, it worked. As it was standard charting library has 'flex trial' water mark. Then I tried to uninstall flex builder 3 standard and install flex builder 3 professional again on 'same machine'. But here I faced the real problem, as soon as I run the exe, the license key automatically gets copied from windows registry file and it behaves as standard edition. Then I tried to use 'manage flex license' option and use 'upgrade to professional' option. Now as my key is for 'Flex 3 professional' and not 'upgrade to Flex 3 professional' it does not accept as valid key. I have few softwares which restrict me from reformatting my system

View 2 RepliesI have a Flex module created in Flash Builder 4 as a swf file. I am trying to load and run in within a Flash application. I can get the module loaded but I can not get the flash application to access any module functions. Here is how I load the module in Flash and the error I get. If I change the module to an application type swf then it loads and runs but now I have two applications on top of each other. I would like the loaded module swf to be able to have access the Flash stage object.

I have a quite different problem with resizing. I have a Flexbook component which uses the middle part of screen (center) with a html header menu and footer. The problem: The scaling works perfectly when we run in the local machine ( Flexbuilder). But when we deploy it to the server its like scaling never existed.. The requirement: when user maximizes the window or minimizes it, the Flexbook should be resized to fit the screen.

The reason I ask is because I'm working in a Flex Library project and trying to use the mx.rpc.soap package. I can import the the package without an issue, and even get code hinting making me think the package is available. Of course I can even see the swcs included in the project. However, when I try to instantiate the WebService class, I get an error when building. Flash Buidler IDE doesn't tell me what the error is, and I don't go into debug mode when I continue with building. I haven't tried connecting to the service yet, just importing the Class and creating a new instance.
