Flex :: Occasionally Connected Application With Air

It is the first time I work with this kind of application. Very little experience I have. And so do the stakeholders. They want something like an (flex AIR)application that is able: save data locally if the application is close synchronize data with the server side if needed Now, it is time for me to "do something" to this requirement before it get fixed. I have so many questions, but here are some less silly one:
The requirement is about "Rarely" connected, not "Occasionally" connected, right?
If I can't change the requirement, what should I do, "hibernate" the AIR application like Windows OS or save only the data to local DB? Their possibility ?

But occasionally, it reverts and thinks this application is running on localhost
%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXXlocalhost
Which means all previous saved settings are gone.
How flash decides if the application is infact localhost or localWithNet (local with Network access). Rebooting can sometimes make it revert, but I've also had it stay localhost for a few days then revert.

I have created an Adobe AIR application that interfaces with Salesforce.com. The only drawback I have is that the data that is synced to the desktop is not encrypted. I can encrypt a database that I create locally, however, I am trying to encrypt the database that is created and maintained by the flexforforce toolkit.

I created a flash slideshow which preloads the images. After preloading the images, it proceeds to load an external flash file and then the images. The problem is, very very occasionally, it will fail to actually load the images into view, and I'll just see the preloading animation, but it might still load the external swf. Additionally, it might do the reverse, and load the images and not load the external swf.
Here is the (I think) relevant code:

FileReferenceList does not dispatch Select event twice every 3 times
When i select multiple uploads, it just does nothing, when i select again, it may begin to upload, here is my ugly code below.

I made a multiple file uploader with resize. All works fine, but sometimes uploading fails and nothing happens.
I've spent many times to find out why this happens, but with no result.
I assume error can be caused by variables that goes after import declarations. Maybe some of they are destroyed by the garbage collection? Or maybe my eventListeners are wrong?

I added eventListeners for handling errors (IOException etc.), but none of they was triggered. So now I've removed that listeners to simplify the code.

I have a swf with four frames. The first frame loads an external class that acts as traffic controller - looks at the root flashvars being passed in and redirects to frame 2, 3, or 4.
Frame 2 is a basic login screen. There's 5 layers - 2 background layers, the login screen, and a dummy text field. I also have trace statements on every layer, which I have speaking with javascript and writing out to the Firebug console. Since the swf requires database access to know what to do, it only works on a server.
The issue I'm having is that, occasionally, not all the layers on frame 2 load. All the actionscript on every layer fires successfully. What I'll do is clear my cache, and roughly 1 out of every 3 times, the only layer that's loaded is the bottom layer, or the bottom two layers.
I've removed the login movie clip and replaced it with dummy text - nothing. I put a preloader on the first frame - nothing. I created a loader swf to, in turn, load this problematic swf - nothing. I thought it might have something to do with order of rendering so I made those bottom layers semi-transparent - nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to further diagnose this problem? While it's intermittent, it happens often enough to demand a fix.

I have 4 mcs across my stage (slightly overlaping eachother) and I'm using the following swapDepths script on each of the different mc rollovers...

When I publish with fp6 (AS 2.0) is works great but with fp7 (AS 2.0) the swap depths sometimes acts weird. When moving the mouse across the different mcs it occasionally brings the new mc to the top (like it should) and puts the previous one back to the bottom (when the previous one should stay directly below the new one).

I'm trying to develop a simple mxml Flex application to start Skype from the AIR/Flashplayer runtime. Is it possible to get back events from a native Windows application? In the simple example of Skype, the OS returns control to the Flex app when Skype exits. But what about native applications which have their own event model and wants to communicate with the Flex event model. For example, a Face detection system which shows "Hello" on a Flex app when the camera detects a face. Can this be done in the current Flex framework?

What I want is to if user re-sizes the application then that container should also be re-sized according to scale. i.e If user maximizes or minimizes the window then that border container should also be maximized or minimized respectively.

I have a native (Obj-C, standard Xcode project) application and I'd like to integrate a partners iOS application (or specifically, it's functionality) into it as just another view in my application. The problem is that their application is a Flex/Air app. I really don't understand the Adobe compilation process on how it gets from a bunch of flex code down to an IPA. I don't see intermediate projects, shared objects, etc on the disk to produce that IPA. It looks like it doesn't rely on the Apple tool chain... as I understand it, you can produce the IPA on Windows as well. Is there any way to build that Flex app in such a way that I can import it into Xcode so I can link against it and use it as a library from within my application? While I specifically used iOS as an example since that is the most important platform, we'll want to apply this solution to our respective Android and Blackberry 6 apps as well.

I have an AIR application with a system tray icon. When clicked it shows and activates the app. This is working as expected when the app is hidden (docked), however if I select another application so my app is in the background clicking on the system tray icon does nothing.
Oddly I also have a contextual menu on the system tray icon, which has an option to restore, this calls the same event handler as ScreenMouseEvent.CLICK, yet works.
I expect it's something to do with the contextual menu changing the focus, perhaps it's a bug in how AIR works with the system tray, perhaps it's just something I'm missing. Would be good to know if that's the case.

I've been trying to launch a separate Air Application through my current Air Application.Both apps are compiled using the Adobe Air 2.0 SDK. The methods I have found so far involve passing the Publisher ID in addition to the Application ID, but I believe the Publisher ID became redundant past Air 1.5.3? Below is my current implementation whic seems to correctly ascertain the Air Application's version number, but when I try to launch it, nothing seems to happen.

I have changed the app-config.xml (app descriptor) on the application I am trying to load to allow browser invocation.The version number of the app descriptor of my application I am trying to load is "V1" which the versionDetectCallback seems to pickup. I have a program consisting of multiple SWF's. An AS2-SWF loads a bunch of AS1-SWFs.It's a crappy program.I'd like to specify the GUI in MXML and perhaps refactor some code to AS3. However, converting all of the 300+ symbols to AS3 or whatever is undoable.What are my options in converting to AS3/Flex/MXML? The app is very simple, only also quite large. It consists only of buttons, backgrounds and attention-texts.
