Flash :: Layers In A Swf Refuse To Load (occasionally, After A Cache Clear)?
Jul 14, 2009
I have a swf with four frames. The first frame loads an external class that acts as traffic controller - looks at the root flashvars being passed in and redirects to frame 2, 3, or 4.
Frame 2 is a basic login screen. There's 5 layers - 2 background layers, the login screen, and a dummy text field. I also have trace statements on every layer, which I have speaking with javascript and writing out to the Firebug console. Since the swf requires database access to know what to do, it only works on a server.
The issue I'm having is that, occasionally, not all the layers on frame 2 load. All the actionscript on every layer fires successfully. What I'll do is clear my cache, and roughly 1 out of every 3 times, the only layer that's loaded is the bottom layer, or the bottom two layers.
I've removed the login movie clip and replaced it with dummy text - nothing. I put a preloader on the first frame - nothing. I created a loader swf to, in turn, load this problematic swf - nothing. I thought it might have something to do with order of rendering so I made those bottom layers semi-transparent - nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to further diagnose this problem? While it's intermittent, it happens often enough to demand a fix.
I use xp with windows 2000 and firefox. This is used for facebook games and have been advised to clear the Flash cache. Found the page with the information on it but it doesn't make sense where to start the process.
I don't want Flash to store the video and image files it pulls in when I test publish the swf. Somewhere it's keeping those files in cache, making it impossible to test a realistic download situation ( such as loading indicators, buffering bars, etc ) because the 'loading' file is immediately available in its entirety due to being stored in cache.
I have an issue with downloading an image from a URL that is not getting updated at runtime. I'm using a URLLoader to download the file initially at the start of the app from some URL, then later on there is a call to the server which re-compiles the image into something else. After that the image is being downloaded again from the exact same URL, but as far as I can tell it's not getting the updated version, but is getting it from the cache that flash creates.
If I restart the application after doing all of this it gets the correct image when it downloads at startup, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to download the correct image at runtime. Does anyone have any idea how this can be accomplished?
Where are the signed, cached flex libraries on a windows / mac / linux system? They don't appear to be in my browser cache... so where is adobe keeping them? I found the files. But can I clear the cache? After trashing the files in windows, I don't see the files get downloaded again (with fiddler).
I remember reading something by theCanadian about this but I can't find it.I can't use the new Air API's in Flash IDE. I have followed the normal overlay instructions. Everything is correct in the application xml file, (3.3 namespace, swf version 16 is targeted).I deleted the xml, let a new one auto generate, but still failed to recognize the new APIs.
I changed the project from iOS, to android, back to iOS and now it works. So for that project at least, something was cached somewhere? Is there another way to "clear" some cache or memory related to this?
I have a Flash game that runs fine, and if the player loses he can retry by clicking the retry button. For some reason I have listeners from previous scenes that won't go away, or are malfunctioning, when the user hits retry and the game and starts back at frame one in the first scene (the actual game is at scene 2 but the retry takes them to scene 1). Is there a way that I can reload the whole movie so previous data won't show up when the player restarts the game? I am kind of looking for a "refresh movie" script for the .swf file.
Been trying to clear browser cache for the past hour, tried almost everything on google and also went Tools>Net options and cleared it. Yet everytime I load the website it shows the old version.
I'm building a mobile MP3 player with AIR, which streams audio using the Sound class's .load() function. I'd like to cache this audio as it's downloaded, to the the user's SD card. Is this possible without having to download the file twice??
I have a class file called "Character_Gen" that generates a lot of random numbers and stuff and displays them on the stage via text input boxes (for the time being), as well as scaling Movie Clips to provide a visual representation of the data. So far so good...But recently I have been trying to add buttons so that you can increment and decrease values (variables) in the class file and update the stage to reflect these new values visually. I have written a setter function in my class file that requires two parameters (stat and stat1), it should in theory allow me to enter any two variables from the class file and increment them at the press of a button. But it doesn't work, the values never change. However the aggravating thing is that it works fine if I don't use the parameters and write the method with the variables I want. I plan on having a lot of pairs so writing a function for each would really suck.
Code: //this is in my class file Character_Gen.as public var bravery:Number;
When running a flash application that I run locallyie I get to it from a browser but with a file pathNow, most of the time the shared objects are stored in%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXX#localWithNetBut occasionally, it reverts and thinks this application is running on localhost%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXXlocalhostwhich means all previous saved settings are gone.I'm wondering if anyone knows how flash decides if the application is infact localhost or localWithNet (local with Network access)
When running a flash application that I run locally i.e., I get to it from a browser but with a file path file:///C:/Projects/test/bin-debug/Main.html#
Now, most of the time the shared objects are stored in %APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXX#localWithNet
But occasionally, it reverts and thinks this application is running on localhost %APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXXlocalhost Which means all previous saved settings are gone.
How flash decides if the application is infact localhost or localWithNet (local with Network access). Rebooting can sometimes make it revert, but I've also had it stay localhost for a few days then revert.
one question, can I load a movie in any giving time of the main swf without playing it and play it when I choose to? Or, can I load to the cache a movie so I can play it later?
i have around 50 swf files , example. main.swf,about.swf, services.swf, products.swf...... etc
main.swf is my 1st file which i embedded in index.html by using actionscript 2.0 dynamically i am loading the external files ( which is about.swf, sevices.swf.. ) whenever i click a specific button it loads a specific swf file. which works perfectly fine with me. but it gets really annoying each time i have to load the files and wait for the files to get loaded. i wanted a javascript or actionscript code which will load all my external swf files invisibly in the cache of the browser while browsing the website. So that whenever i click a button its load instantly without waiting to load again.
for further reference i have seen this kind of work in [URL]
I am trying to load an image in Flex from different places, and the image always loads from server again and again. Is there any way to load the image from browser cache?
How do I use it? Lets say I have a movie with the name "movie1" and another movie with the name "movie2". Now I want to load "movie2" into "movie1" in an empty MC with the name "content" when I press a button.
I have a menu that is populated by XML, I'd like to know how I can clear that menu to load another one in it's place.
I can get the other menu to load but it's adding itself to the previously generated menu:
so let's say I have an XML document that has <menuItem> nodes that have nodes within them named [this is the default menu][code]...
how can i clear the XML or for loop that created the buttons so that the newly loaded menu from the newly loaded xml is the only menu that is displayed and not tacked on to the existing menu?
The whole problem is in the title. I have a gallery which looks a lot like coverflow. Each button in it loads a new gallery which is a swf with a new XML. The Problem is it only works on the first time i click on a button. The XML does not renew when i click on another button. It does load the new XML.
I am trying to making a scroller, which is with 9 surgeons(all are doing there animations). Now they all are loading from outside to the scroller movieclip.
ANd its take time while loading..
Meanwhile I also want the other surgeons which having voice converstaion load in browser cahce..So when user clcik on the surgeon link the swf loaded in browser run fast or load fast.
I'm working on a game whose background has many layers that each scroll at different speeds.
Inside each layer I have a Sprite, I've started using graphics.beginBitmapFill, but what I've found is that the graphics.clear() function doesn't actually clear the contents set by the previous call to graphics.begin.BitmapFill. Each frame, I adjust the matrix to shift the layer as needed. Then, I call graphics.clear() and graphics.beginBitmapFill() with the adjusted matrix. Since my layers have alphas in the bitmap, I can see the contents that was drawn the previous frame.
The client-side application is a Flex application and communicate with server-side java application using blazeds. As you know, most browsers don't cache SWFs loaded over https, but i want load the swfs through http so that the client brower can cache them and communicate with the server-side over https ?
I am trying to get a SWF to load behind other layers in the root timeline - right now it loads over everything - that is on the top most layer. Is there a way to make it load to a specifc layer on the root timeline?
I'm new to Flex. Let's say we have a web application that needs to download several series of data (several thousand numbers) used by one screen. When the user leaves that screen and later returns to it (in the same session; that is, the user hasn't logged out then logged back in), should the application fetch the original downloaded data from cache or simply download it again? What are pros and cons of each and are there any general rules of thumb to follow when it comes to re-downloading data (e.g. again) versus simply getting it from cache? The goal would be to minimize user's wait time as long as there's no drawback.
I am loading levels into a main swf, these levels load via a Menu bar built into my main movie... how do I keep the menu bar from disappearing as the other layers load into the main? I know it's underneath my other levels cuz I get a mouseover on the buttons, I just can't see the menu bar...
It is the first time I work with this kind of application. Very little experience I have. And so do the stakeholders. They want something like an (flex AIR)application that is able: save data locally if the application is close synchronize data with the server side if needed Now, it is time for me to "do something" to this requirement before it get fixed. I have so many questions, but here are some less silly one:
The requirement is about "Rarely" connected, not "Occasionally" connected, right? If I can't change the requirement, what should I do, "hibernate" the AIR application like Windows OS or save only the data to local DB? Their possibility ?
I created a flash slideshow which preloads the images. After preloading the images, it proceeds to load an external flash file and then the images. The problem is, very very occasionally, it will fail to actually load the images into view, and I'll just see the preloading animation, but it might still load the external swf. Additionally, it might do the reverse, and load the images and not load the external swf.
Here is the (I think) relevant code: function onXMLLoadComplete(e:Event):void { // create new xml with the received data xmlSlideshow = new XML(e.target.data); // get total slide count // misc xml data [Code] ..... The live site is here: [URL]
I also noticed that if i select say 10 files, flash attempts to upload the files simultaneously. how do i make flash complete one upload before STARTING another.
