Flex :: Get Container To Scroll To Last Position?
Aug 12, 2009URL...Whenever a chat is added, I want it to completely show the last message. I'm using maxVerticalScrollPosition to set the scroll position on the list, but it is always wrong (see the example). It undershoots it by a row or so. I've tried this with a regular container and it does the same thing. If I do maxVerticalScrollPosition+1, it sort of works, but if the last message is particularly long, it will be cut off (only show the top). How can I get it to scroll to the actual bottom of the container??[code]

Feb 17, 2010A Flex project exported as a Projector, showing fullscreen. The project has a background and several dots which each represent a "Location". These locations are fetched from an XML file and have their position set in percentages. The location in pixels is calculated (this works as it should) by the width and height of the Application. The dots are placed correctly. The background is a JPG with a resolution of 1280*1024. At this moment, the background is set on a Canvas with backgroundSize = auto. This places the image in the center without stretching it. Stretching results in ugly, pixelated images and tears the proportions apart.
Problem When we view the project on 2 different resolutions (1 = 1280*1024; 2 = 1024*768), the dots are in the good position, the background image is sharp. But - because of the background having the same resolution as 1, the background isn't fully shown in resolution 2 (because it isn't stretched. A logic result. That's why I tried stretching the background. The results:

Flex :: Set Combobox Cursor Position?
Mar 17, 2010I have a combobox implementation as follows - Based on user input (min 2 chars) in the editable combobox, the data provider is refreshed and drop-down opened, showing different data sets as user input varies.Problem is that after drop-down opens, the cursor moves back to the beginning. So for instance, the user types in "ab", and wants to type in "c" to form the search string "abc". Due to the cursor re-setting its position to 0, the search string instead ends up as "cab".Here's what I tried already (doesn't work) : textInput.mx_internal::getTextField().setSelection(index, index);
where index = length of user input. This selects text from index to index (which effectively un-selects text) and is supposed to place the cursor at the end.

Jun 23, 2010I have a custom component Comp that gets its position changed as a result of interactions with other components, etc. I check for changes in its position by constantly checking its position at fixed intervals. I'm looking for a better solution (maybe an event-based solution) to monitor its position so I don't have to check constantly myself.

Flex :: Position Text On An Angle?
Oct 4, 2010I'd like my text to be positioned on a 45 degree angle. Is there an easy way to do that? (In the worst case, I could always make a png out of the text). But, I hope that there's away to do it in Flex. I don't need an animated effect.

Flex - Position AIR Window On A Second Monitor?
Dec 31, 2010I'd like to open a window in my AIR/Flex application on a second monitor if it's available. Don't know how to go about it. Tried this:mySecondWindow.x = Capabilities.screenResolutionX;
But this only gets the size of the first monitor and if I try to assign a greater value, it switches to default 100px offset. Is there a proper approach to this? My native screen is maximized in "preinitialize" and then I open the second window on "applicationComplete".
Flex :: How To Get Characters Exact Position In TLF
May 2, 2011Any way to get the exact position for every character inside a textflow?, also I'm having trouble with the TLF documentation, is there anny documentation that shows more on how to work with it in actionscript rather than mxml, I am looking to write my own component and perhaps not use richtexteditor if I don't need to. How to get each characters position in the textflow:

This returns an error that's why I have try and cache, I have tried to change textLine.atomCount to -1 but that wont work either. Now I don't know what character exactly that I have the position for.

Nov 19, 2009I added a Menu_mc on my stage. Initially, this should be at the center of the stage and when I click on it, it will tween on the upper left corner of the browser. However, when I resize the browser, the Menu_mc goes back to the center of the screen.
I have tried separating a different actionscript file where it is specifically for initialization of the object and another one for resizing. And then when I call it on my main AS file it goes like this:

Jun 30, 2009I am using a ScrollPane in my application(viz., instance name is: myScrollPane). When I view the contents of the ScrollPane, it shows them perfectly. My issue is: When I try to view data present inside the ScrollPane, if I move the Vertical-ScrollBar of the ScrollPane to middle(or somewhere from top to down) and then click on Submit button(viz., instance name is: submit_btn), then its Vertical ScrollPosition must be reset from middle(or any position where we leave it before) to top(or initial position). Hence, I need to move the Vertical ScrollPosition of ScrollPane to top (or) initial position. Everytime, I need to refresh the VerticalScrollBar Position when I click on the submit button. How to do it?

Feb 25, 2010I'm not sure exactly where this is happening, but what I'm trying to do is make a scrolling ticker using flex, and it works fine when there is one of them on the screen, but when there are two, strange things happen.The way I have designed this for live updating, when the child of my hbox goes off the screen, I remove it and add another child to the end of it.This happens to reset the X position of the hbox, which isn't too bad, but it also resets the X position of any other hbox I have on the screen.Here is code that demonstrates what I'm seeing:
To use this, run the flex program, then click in the first hbox to set its x position to your mouseX. When the x position of the second hbox (hbox3) is reset, so will the first hbox's (hbox2) X position.

The problem is, i can figure out how to reference an actual rendered row of a datagrid (rather than an item of the dataprovider) in order to get its position on the screen.

Aug 5, 2010I have a couple of images, representing tents, that look like this: The red and blue parts on each side of the tents are doorways, and several tents can be connected together via these doorways. For example, I want to connect the two blue doorways so that they match up like in this picture: If the first tent is stationary, around which point do I rotate the second tent and how do I calculate where to place it?
Currently, I have the upper left corner of each doorway as an x and a y value, together with the width and direction (in degrees) of the door. I'm treating the doorways as one dimensional, so they don't have heights. Would another representation suit this better? Perhaps a start point and an end point plus direction?

The trace's are because it didn't work like I thought it would.Etc the middle movieclip didn't center itself but rather positioned itself seemingly how it pleased so I traced its x position and the var stageXcenter position and like suspected it shows different values.
