Just like in HTML / CSS you can set the position of a div to be 'fixed' using css. For example, a header that is fixed at the top of the web page when the user scrolls down the webpage.
Is this possible in Flex?
I have had a look at the
VDividedBox
control which kind of does what I'm after but don't like the 'divider'.
I want to create a panel (or any other component) inside a component that has a 5 pixel border on all sides, but scales fully when the window is resized. I know I can set width to "100%" to make it resize, but that gives me no borders. If I put it to "95%",I have borders, but they scale annoyingly. Also, that only works for borders on the right or lower bounds, and not to the left or upper sides.Is there a convenient way to do this without having to write tons of resize-code (in which case I will not bother and just accept bad rescale behaviour, as it is for a private pet project).
EDIT: I know that I can just overwrite the display handling and set the positions manually every frame. I wondered if there is a cheap way to do it in the mxml-structure, along these lines:

Coming from C++ and Java, I am intrigued by the option of setting something to "95%" and let the library work out the details, instead of having to write many lines of code, just so my text-area always keeps a 5 pixel distance from the border, but scales with window width.If there is no easier way to do it than figuring out pixel sizes by hand and setting the coordinates.
my question is:i make swf file in html using "swfobject" and footer position fixed.that all going good. but when i open in widow (ie8 or another) and i make small window, position footer in back from swf file?swf file always in front and close the footer..so what i want.. a.. the footer position in front of swf.

Is there anyway to do this? By default it automatically re-sizes according the the content in the target dynamic text field. I'd like to have it's size fixed, but I don't see any obvious way to do that in the documentation.

I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:

so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?

Is anyone know how to adding fixed gridlines chart in flex, for example: I have a vertical axis which has a minimum value 0 and the maximum value 100 but I only want to display gridlines on values 30 and 70.

View 2 RepliesI'm using a flex columnchart to display data, that changes at runtime. It works perfectly, except the fact, that the y-axis with is automatically resized when the values goes under 1.For example first the values of the charts are between 0 and 10. The y-axis now has labels like 0,1,2,3,4...10. If the values are going under 1 the labels are updated to 0.0, 0.1, 0.2...1.0. And because of the width of the labels, the group with the charts is resized.It looks like the chart is "jumping".So, I need a way, to set a fixed width of the y-axis of the chart.

I ve got a series of frames, each with its own instance of a scrollPane called actionText. When navigating from frame to frame I want the vertical scroll position of actionText to reset to 0.For some reason these separate instances of the component are inheriting scroll positions from one another,for example,if I scroll to 50% in one frame, jump to a new frame with a new instance of actionText, that new instance starts at 50%, not 0.
I should be able to set the scroll position by actionText.vPostion = 0 but I get Position is an undefined property of the object actionText .Roll over either the star one or star twotabs and select any action item, scroll the text down (actually a pdf converted to swf), then navigate to another action item and the new scrollPane does not default to 0. Only stars one and two are coded.[url]......
I have developed an application using various FMS2 Communication Components. One of those is the Chat component. The application has various display modes (minimized, normal, maximized). These display modes require the Chat component instance to be resized and repositioned on the screen. I took the approach of having a separate frame represent each of the display modes.
The problem I am having is that the Chat component won't resize or relocate from the size/position on the first frame. The visual layout isn't respected, and calling this.moveTo(x,y) has no effect either. The only way I can get the component to have the desired behavior is to comment out the last line of the Chat component actionscript[code]...
I've got a video I'd like people to be able to navigate away from in my project, but resume where it left off if they come back to it. I would think I could do this by just saving its current position when they exit that frame as a variable and then using .seek() to go back to that spot if/when they return.
The only problem is that I can't find any script to capture the current position. I tried .time, but it gives me an error.

View 2 RepliesI'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.

I have two components. One is called "InsideComp" and one is called "OutsideComp". OutsideComp has InsideComp as one piece of its component, and in my main MXML file, I have embedded an instance of OutsideComp.
