View 1 RepliesI would like to protect my flash files. I would like to block any decompilers,protect actionscript and also protect graphics. Some time ago,I tried to decompile a swf and when I placed it inside a decompiler , it showed me a login form and no graphics.I believe that is the ultimate protection method.Do you have any idea what software can do that ?

I am currently using ExternalInterface to call JS functions from Flex. Is it possible to do the same the other way around: have Flex execute a function when a certain trigger is executed in JS? I want to have a Flash app with buttons in HTML that when pressed call functions inside the Flex app.
View 1 RepliesI know the flash engine is single threaded so when it receives an event, does it essentially break off, execute any registered event listeners (in no guaranteed order) then return to the current scope?[code]can I guarantee that the current function will complete before any of the event listeners execute? ie trace("Done"); will ALWAYS execute first.
View 3 Repliesit is possible to protect a .swf file from decompilation?i've been reading about compiling class libraries in a .swc file for distribution without revealing the code - possibly selling it. however, there are .swf decompilers you can use to expose the code, and a .swc file is simply a .zip archive, so changing myswc.swc to myswc.zip will reveal the .swf files of the library.
View 2 RepliesIt has just occurred to me that when my Flex application does a ChannelSet.login, it is essentially sending the username and password over the wire in an unencrypted form to the BlazeDS server. While I use the binary AMF protocol over an AMFChannel, it would take nothing for somebody to sniff these passwords.
Most of my clients do not want to run their application on an https (SSL) protected site. So what is the best way to do this? I use Spring security on the backend to do authentication.
Should I encrypt the credentials myself before calling login? I guess then I would need to know the server-side encryption algorthym.
I'm developing a Flex application using RobotLegs, LiveCycle DS & Java.I'm trying to implement an update function, using LCDS, but I'm running into some strange behaviour:This is the ActionScript code within a RobotLegs' execute command, used to perform the update:
var token:AsyncToken = services.requestService.commit(new Array(model.currentRequestDetail));
responder = new AsyncResponder(resultHandler, faultHandler, token);

My flash actions layer contains the whole source code. My question is: why does the actions layer get executed with a fresh start (new variables) more then once?
the following code snippet demonstrates what i mean:
var notyetexecuted:Boolean=true;
function addNetStream(counter) {
if (notyetexecuted = true) {
[Code]....
why this is the case and how Flash executes layer?
I have a movieclip which has in the actions for frame 1
this["myCustomVar"] = "bla";
I then do this:
var mc:MovieClip = new MyMovieClip();
trace(mc.hasOwnProperty("myCustomVar")); // is false
Why does the movieclip not have myCustomVar, or to put it more generally:
When are frame scripts in movie clips executed exactly?
I was surfing the web and stumbled upon this site. While watching some of the flash presentations I noticed that the videos had pretty complex navigation. Can someone tell me how it is put together or what kind of tutorials would I need to look at to comprehend how these navigation are done. The video is located on this site [URL]

View 2 RepliesI have two main folders in my application:
- One with my flash sources named "flashsources" (with *.fla, *.as etc)
- Another one for production only, named "www" (with *.swf, *.html, *.js etc)
When I compile my swf, from the *.fla which is in flashsources, it is published in.I am loading an external swf from my main swf, this external one is located in www.The path to this swf changes whether my main swf is executed from Flash (at the compilation, then the current directory is flashsources) or outside Flash (running directly the file *.swf, so the current directory is "www")Does anyone know if there's a way to detect whether I am in or out Flash, to change the path to the external swf accordingly, or maybe a way to detect the current directory?
I have made many games is it any way that I can protect my swf from flash developers who want hack my game?First I was tried way load game swf's into preloader swf and call it by Iframe most flash developers just get only my preloader.swf unable to get game. now i am searching way that to protect swf from flash dicompilors???
View 4 RepliesIs there any "client side only" way to protect a SWF so it'd only be possible to load it from domain X? I'm aware of the server side options such as checking the referrer but unfortunately my server is a "static" CDN where this implementation isn't possible. I wonder why flash cross-domain security files do not seem to handle this scenario as well.
View 1 RepliesI'm working on important project using Flex framework and i want to keep my algorithms and code secret. Is it possible to somehow protect swf file from being decompiled? I don't want someone extract my code using flash decompilers.
View 5 RepliesIs flash the best bet to keep images from being stolen? Is there any way to steal images from websites that use flash to display images. I heard that we can use firebug to download flash images. Is this correct?
View 4 RepliesHow would you be able to stop people from downloading flash video from your site instead of viewing it in a flash player. I would like to prevent people from downloading the flash video by ripping the stream. I am not looking for 100% prevention but ways to make this difficult and annoying.
View 4 RepliesI have been building an application using CS4. I currently load the swf file into a byte array of another swf to prevent easy access, but I have been told that this will not keep out more experienced users. How can I improve on my current method to best protect my code from being stolen?

View 1 RepliesI have a flash interface that uses php to write/read vars.So if someone wants to hack our website all he has to do is look at the code and send some vars manually to the .php file. I've seen some encryption apps that claim to fully protect your swf but at the same time there are those who claim to decompile protected ones.Is there any better way to protect the php>flash communication?
View 2 RepliesI have used settings.xml file in my swf file. Now i am very sure, somebody can grab the swf file, decompile it and get the full path of the settings.xml file. If they can do that, they can see everything inside the settings.xml file which contains lots of thing. Now my question is how to protect that xml file from getting grabbed when typed the full URL. One solution is to ecrypt/obfuscate the swf file, but i don't trust them fully. If given a little time, I can myself decrypt the swf.

I have an issue in which outdated code removed long ago code in an actionscript 2 class sometimes gets executed. I can tell this in that the application fails and trace statements removed long ago gets logged to a console.The closest match I've come across is this post:Flash CS4 refuses to let goHere are the things I've triedI hI have searched an uncompressed debug-enabled version for the trace entry. It is not there.I have decompiled the compiled version and searched that. It is not there.I ave deleted all ASO files and tried to recompile.I have not been able to reliably reproduce the conditions in which the situation arises.I've testet 700 times in a row (yes - sevenhundred times - this is a high profile project) and it would not occur. Then tested another time and it occured. No difference in my approach to testing.I have compiled on another, freshly installed machine. No difference.I have ruled out that it may relate to timestamps since I've tried to compile locally and w/o version control.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying this:
- create some asset in library, export for as in frame 1
- export an assets.swc, and set the relative library path publish option in othes flas that use assets.swc
- Then, there's a Main.as document class that uses other classes tha use the assets in assets.swc
Problems start when some asset has some code inside. Say, a button with stopped event states. Well, the stop() commands don't get executed, so the buttons are effectively instantiated, but their timeline plays until the end. Probably because they're not initialized in the timeline (being exported in frame 1, so, in fact, before).Usually, without swc, to solve this problem one would put all assets in frame 2 and then check for cuttentFrame == 3 (http:url...). This is what I'd really like to avoid. And from here the question: is that possible? Is there a way (in flash, not flax) to use swc to properly get assets containing some simple code (usually stop commands) in their timeline?
Is there a way to protect my flash files from being decompiled by any user?
View 2 RepliesI need to protect images embedded in a swf file. I've noticed Swf Encrypt scrambles the images, like so:
How is something like this achieved ? How does image scrambling work ? I've noticed the image is stored a bitmap. Not sure how information is stored.I imagine it would be possible to use something like AS3SWF to access the content of a swf, but what would I need to change for the image swf tags ? I don't know much about security/obfuscation/encryption, so any tips will be handy. The programming language for this shouldn't matter much.
I have an alchemy compiled swc which contains methods to perform certain key algorithms. These methods should only return values only if user is authorized(bought license from online service) for security purpose. So I am planning to add another SWC on top of this, which have all the licensing code stuff. But when I import the Alchemy generated swc inside my custom swc, all the methods of alchemy are exposed.
View 2 RepliesI have flash player in my web site for playing the mp3 files.But if someone uses "viewsource" or any browser tools such as firebug, then they can find the parameter and then sort out the actual mp3 file url.I am using php in my back end.
View 1 RepliesI have a Flash file in which I want to embed a font, but the licence terms for that font mean I can only embed it in a file if that file is security protected to be non-editable. Assuming this means I need to take some sort of precautions to prevent the file being decompiled and the font extracted, is there any way of enforcing this?
Note: I don't care about the code itself being public, I just don't want the font file to be available.
