I have been building an application using CS4. I currently load the swf file into a byte array of another swf to prevent easy access, but I have been told that this will not keep out more experienced users. How can I improve on my current method to best protect my code from being stolen?

I'm working on important project using Flex framework and i want to keep my algorithms and code secret. Is it possible to somehow protect swf file from being decompiled? I don't want someone extract my code using flash decompilers.

View 2 RepliesI was asked to edit a completed website. I was given the .swf file. I decompiled it using SoThink and converted it to a flash file. When I opened it in Adobe Flash CS4, only the intro portion is viewable in the timeline.
When I test the movie the entire website plays out with no problems. But the timeline only shows the intro/home page. I need to edit other content in the scene.
I am a beginner in flash action scripting program. In our project we need to modify some flash files. Client has provided us .swf files. I have decompiled .swf files using Sothink SWF Decompiler. When I copied the actionscript file into a new flash file the new file size is decreasing when compared with the original flash file.

this way we are responsible for murdering such a good programming language...
Please do not use decompiled elements as first hand deliverables to your customers.
Decompilers often create bugs hat even the flash compiler cannot identify.

I'm aware of the server side options such as checking the referrer but unfortunately my server is a "static" CDN where this implementation isn't possible. View 2 RepliesI have used settings.xml file in my swf file. Now i am very sure, somebody can grab the swf file, decompile it and get the full path of the settings.xml file. If they can do that, they can see everything inside the settings.xml file which contains lots of thing. Now my question is how to protect that xml file from getting grabbed when typed the full URL. One solution is to ecrypt/obfuscate the swf file, but i don't trust them fully. If given a little time, I can myself decrypt the swf.

How is something like this achieved ? How does image scrambling work ? I've noticed the image is stored a bitmap. Not sure how information is stored.I imagine it would be possible to use something like AS3SWF to access the content of a swf, but what would I need to change for the image swf tags ? I have an alchemy compiled swc which contains methods to perform certain key algorithms. These methods should only return values only if user is authorized(bought license from online service) for security purpose. So I am planning to add another SWC on top of this, which have all the licensing code stuff. But when I import the Alchemy generated swc inside my custom swc, all the methods of alchemy are exposed.

Assuming this means I need to take some sort of precautions to prevent the file being decompiled and the font extracted, is there any way of enforcing this?
Note: I don't care about the code itself being public, I just don't want the font file to be available.
I develop applications with Flash, AS 3.0 and PHP. I need to give the source code to my clients. But once I give them the source code they can also re-sell the applications to other people. So, I have deceided to use some code hiding process so that without my permission the application will not run in any server. In that case I am ready to keep informations in my server. Only my direct client will be able to run the file once they have registered their domain name and other info into my server.

For example, a user thinks up a password on the spot, types it in, hits a SET button and the mc cannot be disabled without re-entering the correct password. I am new to actionscript and from what I can find on Google it ooks as though the answer could lie in using veriables but i'm not sure how to implement this.

View 3 RepliesI am loading eight external swfs by way of eight buttons with actionscript to remove the swfs and sound after a new button is clicked. This works fine except that as soon as you get to the frame where the actionscript is all the swfs load at one time on top of each other. I don't want any to load until the button is clicked for the right one. MouseEvent listener works but only after all the swfs have loaded. How do I get the swfs to load only when the buttons are clicked. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

i've got an AS3 project going out on cd. The project will consist of the SWF, several folder directories containing flvs, and folders containing ActionScript Classes used by the SWF. I'm not so much worried about protecting the FLV's or the Swf, but the cd could eventually be snagged by a rival company. is there a way to somewhat protect or encript external actionscript classes?
