I have a randomly-sized array of items. I'd like to display one label for each item in a Repeater component. I want them to display in a grid layout with 5 columns and as many rows as needed. How do I do that in Flex / ActionScript?
I have a repeater component with custom event. My repeater components fires custom event holding data. My need is to dispatch event so other repeater components can access data from dispatching component.
I trying to import an XML file, and send bits and pieces to a custom component. My XML file is structured like this:
<projects><project> <projName>{Insert title of project here}</projName> <startDate>{Insert date here}</startDate> <positions> <daysOffset>{Insert a number here}</daysOffset> [Code] .....
When I save the project, I do not get any errors or warnings. However, when I attempt to output the values in the component, the projectPositions piece comes back as Null.
I have a repeater that populates a component, called 'project'. The project components are given an ID of 'wholeProject'. In all of my functions up until now, I was able to determine how many project components were made by doing the following:
wholeProject.length;
I used this in for loops, for each loops, and for changing the item settings within a project, i.e. something like this:
wholeProject[i].studentName = "Billy Bob";
However, I'm creating a new function that does not seem to like this wholeProject.length reference. I'm using it within the same level as all the others (i.e. the parent level). So far, my function is simply this:
public function getStudentYears():void { Alert.show(String(wholeProject.length)); }
when the application loads, the alert message simply does not appear. If I change the alert to something like this:
Alert.show("This is just a test.");
it works just fine. But for some reason, the wholeProject.length doesn't work in this function whereas it does in all my other ones.
I have a Flex repeater that has a complex item template. When a checkbox is clicked, I need to toggle the visibility of a sibling button contained in the same repeater template. Since I can't add binding expressions to event handlers, I can't pass in the repeater item's index.
How can I access sibling components inside a repeater item?
I have a problem when creating a ViewStack, with a repeater along with other components (i.e. vBox) inside the ViewStack. The repeaters get placed at the bottom of the view. Despite the repeater is listed before other components, it is placed at the bottom.Is there a workaround where I can get the repeater drawn before the other components?Here is an example:
I have a fairly straightforward Flex layout question. Is there anyway to get FormItem's contained within a nested container to follow the alignment of the FormItem's in in the parent form container?
In following code, I have one large component, and I'd like only the level4 panel to be scrollable, but instead, the whole application become scrollable.
Is there a good place that has an overview of how Flex layout stuff is managed? I'm trying to create some user-resizeable "windows" in Flex, but I'm having some trouble getting the layout calculations for the contents correct. Right now I'm just trying to get a good understanding of how Flex calculates its layouts, but I haven't found any good overview documentation. For instance, looking just at the width value there are the following:
[Code]....
and the same set for height. What's the meaning of each of these? How is each used? Is there any way using those to calculate some preferred size of a component (like getPreferredSize() in java)?
I am trying to build a sort of button bar in Flex - something like the horizontally laid-out bookmark bar you'd see in most modern web browsers, where when you run out of horizontal space, you can click on the arrows button(>>) to get a drop-down to see the rest of the items which did not fit into the horizontal space. Problem is, how can I know how much horizontal space is available for me to tell how many buttons to render into the button bar? This need doesn't appear to be support by the general layout manager framework.
Im trying to create a layout in flex using mxml, the layout contains a Canvas component and a Box. The layout should always be such that the Box sits at the bottom edge of the application and has a fixed height, whereas the Canvas fills the remaining stage area and does not overlap with the Box. My MXML is as follows;
I want to make an area where I can make a grid of varying colors, starting with a small 3x3 grid. The final goal is to reduce the size of each element and increase the number of squares to get a higher resolution. The shades of color are stored in an array and I can get the drawing going, but the shapes don't get deleted when repeating the function call and they go on top of everything else I've put on the stage.
I have a custom component in a repeater. This component has a child component which can be of two types depending on some conditions. [coed]...
When I place breakpoints in the functions called at creationComplete, I can see that the component assigned to placeHolder is correct but it does not show on my display. I tried refreshing by calling invalidateDisplayList in every place I can think of but it does not seem to work.
I'm working on a MP3 player that displays the tracks in a grid layout. I've got it working but when it attaches the track it counts each track as a row. How would I identify each row has 4 tracks?
var cols = 3; var rows = 2; var vspace = 4; var hspace = 4; var xpos = 4; var ypos = 4; var wclip = menu_mc.bttn_mc.bttn._width; //165 [Code] .....
I was looking for a way to make different grid layouts for xml loaded jpg thumbs, so I read and applied a lot of the tutorials and posts about galleries, xml, thumbs and grids around here. Some of the script I used comes from Kirupa's adding thumbs tutorial. I also applied the concept in Creating Grids with Flash/AS. The result is attached here. A lot of the parameters, like row and column numbers and scaling of the thumbs,spacing, alpha, rotation, etc, can be changed easily in the script. Also, the idea is that you could write different prototype functions to get different grid layouts effects.
I am trying to draw a set number of squares in a grid type layout and have pretty much gotten it to do what I want. The problems is that I want to be able to manipulate each square individually later on and I'm pretty sure I need to assign each one a unique instance name.something like "square_0_0" all the way down to "square_10_10" (it's a 10x10 table of squares).how do assign a unique instance name to each square as it's added to the stage? I attached the code I currently have running.
I'm trying to figure an elegant way to display a certain number of items in a grid. I have a feeling the answer lies partly with modulus, but it's a little more complicated than that. I know how to lay out items in a grid based on a set number of columns. Something like this:[code]but what I want to do is set things up such that if there is only one item (j=0), the image covers the entire available area (stage.Width and stage.Height or, for simplicity, 1000px, and 500px). If there are 2 items, there should be 2 columns, with the images taking up half the width of the stage and all of the height (500x500), 3 items - 3 columns (300x500), 4 items - 2 columns & 2 rows (500x250), and so on, keeping a balanced grid layout but decreasing the dimensions of the items and increasing the number of rows in some sort of logical and balanced manner.
I am working on my very first flash application and have found these forums very helpful so I have decided to post here since I'm stuck. I have taken the thumbnail gallery ikim posted on this thread and im trying to tweak it to my needs. When the thumbnails are loaded i would like to implement an onrelease function to tween the image to the middle of the screen, then slide to the right and increase the size. I have written the actionscript that will move the image. However, my problem is, i need to have the thumbnail slide from its original position to the middle of the screen. I thought i could do this by passing the parameters of _x, _y in the function and setting the motion accordingly. Being a newbie to AS, I am having trouble with getting ikim's gallery to accomodate this functionality. I tried using getproperty to get the _x, _y coordinates but this only returns the coordinates for the beginning position of the image and i need the ending position coordinates. I assumed I need to call getproperty at a later time, but I am not sure how to reference the thumbnails since it appears to me that they are being dynamically named and created the same.
i created dynamically checkbox on data grid how do i find out Which checkbox select/unselect and which checkbox contact is select/unselect ? Because we cant set dynamic id for each checkbox
I've created a drawing application intended as an interactive art piece for a gallery. I'd like to have what each visitor draws in one scene to somehow be carried over into the next scene and be displayed on clicking a button. Ideally, the user-drawn images will scale and position themselves accordingly to maximize the screen space. This way, if only three people have visited and drawn something, their three images would enlarge to fill the screen. If 12 people draw something, those 12 images would shrink to fill the space.
I'm thinking I might need to look at creating adaptable/expandable grids, but I'm also just stumped on how to carry user-drawn images over to other scenes. I have very little AS background and need things spelled out for me explicitly...
I'm working in CS3, but writing in AS2. On the stage, I have a palette of colours the user can choose from, a movieclip called "canvas," and another called "controller." Here's my code:
Attached to a movieclip called "Controller" is: onClipEvent (load) { topDog = "window1"; _root.createEmptyMovieClip("holder",100);
I'm currently working with the OLAPDataGrid component and got stuck at a relatively simple task: I want to style the last row of the grid differently from the rest, so my cell item renderer needs to know whether he's rendering the last row with content in the overall grid, including those rows currently not rendered because they are outside the visible grid space. AdvancedGridListData's rowIndex property only gets me the row index of the renderer relative to the range of visible grid rows, i.e. when I scroll down the grid, a data item with an index greater than 0 gets the rpw index = 0.
Whenever I add paddingRight to a column in the flex grid, it adds the padding to the header as well.Is anyone familiar with how I can add paddingRight just to the column and not to the header? Below is the column code where I was specifying the padding.
In my application I'm using a canvas and repeater inside HBox it is Dynamic,..now I want to keep a horizontal scrollbar for the same, I may display more than 50 canvas addresses inside that Hbox and repeater.Here is my code:
I have a label that is using a repeater to get information form a database. Now I'm trying to pass the information in that label to another label component, but I haven't had any luck.[code]...
I Have a VBox, and set the verticleGap = 0. Inside the VBox I have a Repeater. When I run the App, the items listed from the Repeater have a large gap between each line. Is there a way to set the verticleGap on the Repeater, or reduce that space?
I have an xml file that has a start date and length of a project... I use a repeater to load each project. The users' screen only shows 2 weeks at a time. I would like to make it so that if a project doesn't fall within the two weeks on screen, that the project isn't loaded. I could do this by sorting through the XML and finding the correct projects to load, and putting them into an array collection, but there's a "move date" button which allows the user to change the two weeks that are showed. Once the two weeks are changed, I would need the projects that fit into that new 2 week window to show.
