Flex :: Select A Certain Number Of Nodes Using E4x In It?
Oct 14, 2009
Say for example, I have an XML file with 100 "person" nodes, and I want the first 30. Or possibly 51 - 100. Is there any way to do this with e4x syntax to return an XMLList?
I want to select a XMLList of nodes by this criteria <Projects>.<project>.@name = x &&<Projects>.<project>.<characteristics>.<characteristic>.<options>.<option>.(@name == y && @value == z) Essentially query by both attributes [name and value] for a given project name
Here is my XML. I have removed A LOT of what is actually in the XML file I am working with, for simplicity: PHP Code: <State><Center ID="BOCC"> <Dispatch><Log> <LogType>Traffic Collision - Ambulance Responding</LogType> [Code] .....
I need ONLY the text of the LogType's (FROM CENTER "BOCC" ONLY) to show up in a list component or trace the output.. doesn't matter.. I can formulate it myself.. I just need to only grab this specific data. I do not want to see any other results (e.g. from SOMEOTHERCENTER). Like show: Traffic Collision - Ambulance Responding Traffic Hazard Pedestrian On A Highway The actual file I'm working with (and can not alter) is [URL].
Im trying to learn how to deal with such banners. Seems that everything works fine BUT I cant select the nodes of the XML. See the code below It keep saying "cannot open url undefined".
I have a comboBox and values like basic and advanced. And viewstack container conatains 2 grids. When i select the base option in Combobox, the first grid has to be selected. select the advanced value in comboBox, the second grid has to be selected.
Flex 4 Combobox is extended with a Text Input that helps in getting to the item that is searched for.I have created a Check Box as an itemrenderer for this Flex 4 Combobox. I would like to Add a Select All and Select None options in the drop down of the Combobox. I know that i could accomplish by editing the dropdownfactory in case of a Flex 3 Combobox. But in Flex 4 the dropdownfactory doesnt exist.
I'm trying to parse some simple XML and use it to render some controls, its all going so well. I'm having some trouble with E4X and counting the number of nested nodes within a certain child...code is as follows....
Code:
<questions> <question> <label>History of Smoking</label> <value>3</value>
[Code]....
The Alert keeps coming up as 1. I read in the documentation that this will happen with XML objects but it is working when I create the XMLList and counts the number of questions I have. The code is working except it is only rendering 1 RadioButton, very sad. I suppose I could put the number of options within the <options> tag but I'd rather do it dynamically to avoid errors.
Im trying to get the Total number of images for each project. But it only returns the first image for each project....Do I need to nest a loop within the project loop to get the images for that project?
[AS] function loadXML(loaded) { if (loaded) { projectNode = this.firstChild;[code]......
I need ONLY the text of the LogType's (FROM CENTER "BOCC" ONLY) to output in a trace. I do not want to see any other results (e.g. from SOMEOTHERCENTER). Like show:
Traffic Collision - Ambulance Responding Traffic Hazard Pedestrian On A Highway
I need to be able to select a random number between 1 and 200... however, I don't want the number to be selected more than once...I found this code:
HTML Code: var minNum:Number = 1; var maxNum:Number = 200;[code]....
However, this returns a whole array rather a single number. How do I get at the first number in this array? I am making a quiz game and want to return a random number (number) which displays a question using an 'if' statement: if number == 1{ etc. I don't want the same question to be displayed for the remainder of the game.
i created a movie that gets a certain number of nodes from an xml file and places them randomly on the screen. The only thing is, that it does them at the same time. i want them each to be placed seperatly on the stage, getting faster as the movie progresses.
I have an application which pulls in data (questions) via XML and randomizes them. Right now if there is 50 questions in the XML file, 50 questions are displayed and randomized in the application. I am trying to figure out how to limit the randomizing pool so that only 35 questions display(even when the XML file has 50 questions) or something like that. My current code which brings in the file and randomizes is below.
Loads the XML data Code: package exam { import flash.net.* //to create URLRequest and load XML file import flash.events.* //for Load events //import flash.display.* //for testing purposes - remove when testing complete //This class downloads the XML document, and then inserts info into arrays and variables. [Code] .....
I am trying to make a banner like item for a website I am working on, I have 1 external text file 4 external swf's and 1 external .jpg.that I am trying to get to do this:on page load display img1.jpg for 60 seconds and then randomly select a number and then display the file that is associated with that number, for 60 seconds, and do it again, and again until all of the text and swf files have been displayed and then start over from the beginning,Now I can get it to select a random number and then pull up a file that is associated with that number with this code.I have shortened the time to see it work but still no avail.Example random code:
What I need is for each of the nodes highlighted in green to return the child Nodes. Example: when I move the mouse over the menu Indoor lighting, the results should be: Indoorlighting | LED 10W> 3W LED> LED 6W
For those unfamiliar with tree structures, tree structures are usually dynamic lists where every node has a pointer to two other nodes. They are arranged so it makes for faster searching and stuff and are very useful in programming languages that offer direct access to heap memory. Although I don't know if there would be benefits of making tree structures in AS would be of any help but I decided to have a go at it anyway. Since there are no pointers in flash I tried to just replace pointers to nodes with nodes themselves. Such things usually work in java I think because the language just automatically makes pointers for variables.
A web service return to my flex3 client this custom exception: <SOAP-ENV:Fault xmlns:ro="urn:Gov2gLibrary" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="[URL]" xmlns:xsd="[URL]" xmlns:xsi="[URL]" xmlns:HNS="[URL]" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="[URL]" xmlns:v1="[URL]"> <faultcode>E2gError</faultcode> <faultstring>abc</faultstring> <detail><HNS:ROException> [Code] .....
This is obviously a part of the FaultEvent object I get when the remote call fail, so I'm trying to access "T2gMsg" subnode values like this: protected function onFaultEvent(e:FaultEvent):void { var obj:Object = e.fault; var err:XMLList = obj.element.detail.children()[0].children(); // now I have in err the "Messages" list, subnode of ROException, // so I should cycle to read one message at time: for each (var x:XML in err.children()) { //? }
How to read ID, Severity etc values. I think something like "x.ID" should work but it's not, while x.child("ID") or x.elements("ID") return null. What can I do?
But that really just gives me back the original XML (since I'm asking for the root where those conditions are met I get the root). I understand why my approach doesn't work, but I don't know where to go from here./grandParent
