Is it possible to send parameters to a closeHandler Alert function? The fisrt parameter the function gets is the CloseEvent, but how to send another one?

I know I can create a custom event and associate data with it and retrieve it in respective Event Listener. But What I am interested to know is, is there a short method (without having to extend Alert Event Class) to associate parameters to its alert Listener.
View 2 RepliesIn my Flex (Flash Builder 4) Air application, I have a spark window and have set the close="" event handler (also tried the 'closing' event) to a method that pops up an alert confirming if they want to close the window. This worked fine in my normal browser based app as a TitleWindow, but now that it's an Air app with a native spark window, it's not working. I never see the alert dialog, and if I debug trace, it does in fact go in to my close handler method, but visually I can see the window is already gone from the screen. In an AIR application, how do you add a confirmation dialog for when they click the "x" to close the window?
View 1 RepliesI am having an issue where I show an AlertBox message when the user hits ENTER and the focus is in a text area. The pop up works fine, but when the user hits enter the Alert closes as expected, but the TextArea listener receives the ENTER event from the Alert and pops the dialog up again. I have tried a number of ways to catch and eat the event but so far I have not been lucky. Is there way to accomplish this?
public function init():void
{
myTextInput.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, handleKeyStrokes);[code]....
I am a Flex developer and I am trying to load an AS2 swf in my AS3 code.The load itself works, but the parameters are not transported for some reason.
This is my code.
var urlrequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest();
urlrequest.url = "Pres.swf?test=test1";
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
loader.load(urlRequest);
In the handler function for the complete event, when I checked for the parameters in contentLoaderInfo, there is just an empty object associated with it(I guess, there are no key- value pairs in it atleast).I cannot make any changes to the AS2 swf, because I don't have any tools to build it right now.
im sure other ppl have been faced with this dilemma. say that you are attaching an event listener to an object which obviously if revoked, will call a function. now how do you send additional params with listeners?so you get something like:
Code:
public function eventHandler(e:Event, additionalParam:*){}
i have a solution for this and that is to attach it to the caller so it could be accessed with e.target.variable but i dont know if this is the way to go.
I need to send a HTTP request (and get XML response) from Flash that looks similar to following:
http://example.com/somepath?data=1&data=2&data=3
I.e. having several parameters that share same name, but have different values.
Until now I used following code to make HTTP requests:
var resp:XML = new XML();
resp.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {/*...*/};
resp.ignoreWhite = true;
[Code].....
But in that case I am loosing ability to do POST requests.
I'm having a huge issue when it comes to the mx's WebService class..Basically: We're communicating with the webservice, and the method we are calling has place for 5 parameters to be sent... but they're all optional, so i just need to send 3 parameters for this specific section
ActionScript Code:
_parent.getData("calledFunction",
handleResult,
handleError,
how to get flash to not send those blank nodes with the soapcall/pendingcall ?
I have a project where I need to keep track of where the user is at a certain point of a flash training orientation.
Flash application needs to accept a parameter which contains a unique ID for the user running the flash application. This ID needs to be stored throughout the session of the flash application, from page to page. Once a user travels from page-X to page-X in the Flash, the next button needs to call an aspx page in order to send that ID and the page position so the aspx can write to an XML file this information. If the user does not finish the flash, once they return, the aspx needs to read the correct XML file and send 2 parameters to the flash application. These 2 parameters will be the user's ID and the page the user was on the flash can load the correct page. Instead of passing 2 parameters so the flash can dynamically load the correct section, the aspx can call the correct flash file (i.e. flash_file2.swf) but still pass the user's ID as a parameter.
In my Flex 4 app I would like all my alert boxes to be a specific width and height, how do I specify that in the CSS? I want to avoid having to specify the width and height every time I want to show an alert, that's why I'd like to set it in the CSS, but does not look like there's a way to.. Something like this does not work:
mx|Alert
{
height: 100;
width: 300;
}
I need to customize my alert box with two button and both the button need to have different skins on them. I was able to do it for one skin. But i am unable to figure out about the two skins. My code that i have right now is below:

I have 2 comboboxes which are dependent (country and state) and one submit button.
Now what i want is after user submits the form it should display one alert box which should be like
selected country is "selected item"
selected state is"selected item"
I got a strange problem. Just using Flash Builder 4.5 and trying to use the Alert Popup for some user messages.

How do I skin alert box in flex 4? I am not interested in customizing alert box via css, how do I create skin? For example, for TextInput I would write in css:
[Code]...
And get TextInput globally changed. How do I make something similar for Alert? I can't understand what is host component for alert.
I am using Flex3.0. in this i am craeting a custom component for an Alert.and for that alert i am applying styles. but when i opening the alert through the application i want to set focus on Alert button.means when i press enter button there are two buttons in alert YES and NO.i need to focus on YES button.
View 2 RepliesI have a project in which i need to pop up an alert to the user before a combobox value is changed. This feature is to allow the user to stay in current state if modifications were not saved. Meaning that the user will be able to cancel the change. I have sub classed ComboBox and tried to hook on ITEM_CLICK of ComboBox.dropdown but this event is triggered after the value is changed. Also, I've tried MOUSE_CLICK ans MOUSE_DOWN but without success.
In my code, I have added a "preChange" event to my CustomComboBox. This event should be triggered before a change is made. Also, I've introduced a method called commitChange that will be called manually to actually commit the change.
Can i remove the OK Button from Alert.Show() message which displays by default?Update:private var myAlert : Alert;
public function showAlert( message: String, title : String ) : void
{
hideAlert();

I want to create a simple multiline Alert popupAlert.show("Blah\nBlah")shows BlahBlah when what I really want is two lines, one Blah each.
View 2 RepliesHow can I disable dragging of the Alert window in Flex? I don't want the users to move my alert windows. What shall I do?
var a:Alert=new Alert();
a.text="Alert Message";
PopUpManager.addPopUp(a,this,true);
I am using SWFLoader to load a swf file. The code is below:[code]
View 2 RepliesThe following code works in the following way:
When I enter incorrect values in the txtother.textbox and focuses out, an alert will be displayed as "Please enter a valid Format Mask." . After pressing the "ok" button in the Alertbox the txtOther.focusout even is triggered again. i.e. immediately after pressing the OK of alert, the same ALERT is displayed again.
I have added the code for ur reference:
//in mxml File:
<mx:Canvas label="General" >
<mx:VBox>
[Code].....
I don't want to the alert to come again and again .. I need it in such a way that when the ok button of alert is pressed. The txtother.text should be in focus, and the alert should not come again and again as before.
This is very basic and there are samples out there, but I am still struggling.
I need to fire an alert with a yes/no option.
I need to do this in actionscript.
Alert.show("Open new tab to search in Google Maps?","No places found", Alert.YES | Alert.NO, this, alertListener, null, Alert.NO);[code]...
I am creating an application using flex mobile but could not find how to show alerts using flex.So can anyone please tell how to show the alert in flex mobile , mx alert don't work in this and i could not find an alternative in spark.

Can I listen to Alert button click between components using AsyncToken?Basically, I want to have a method that opens an Alert with buttons and have it return an AsyncToken so that other components calling that method can listen for button click.
Example:
var token:AsyncToken=methodThatOpensAlert();
token.addResponder(new mx.rpc.Responder(buttonClick));
How do I change the icons to Alert buttons like OK, CANCEL etc?
View 1 RepliesI am using Flex 4 and running into some problems displaying a simple alert box. The alert box shows up, but the text seems to be the same color as the background. I know the text is there because if I mouse over in the alert box window to roughly where the text would be, I can see the cursor change. And when I double click and copy-paste into notepad, I can see the message. But the message, the button text, the message box title don't show up.The relevant code in my project is as follows
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" layout="absolute"
[code].....
I'm trying to center the title text on my Alert control. I'm using the following CSS right now:
mx|Alert{
text-align: center;
}
The problem is that the above code centers my alert content as well, not just the title text. What selector do I need to access just the title of the alert control? I'm using the 4.x SDK and Spark.
Code:
Alert.Show();
In my AIR application in Flex 4, I use mx:HTML, and when I navigate to a location like this ut, some websites have "alert" function in javascript like this :lert('hello world!');nd AIR show the message in a box...I just want to remove, or ignore these messages, but I don't know how...
View 1 RepliesI have a function that checks for something when the user clicks a button. if that something is found, an alert comes up saying that it has been found and asks them if they would like to allow this to happen, or undo the action that caused the something to be found. the code looks like this:
Alert.show(thisString1, "Conflict: Multiple Projects", 3, this, conflictAnswer);
upon pressing "Yes" or "No", the conflictAnswer function will be called... it looks like this:
private function conflictAnswer(event:CloseEvent):void[code]....
but it didn't work.
EDIt: After reading the first respond, i've come up with this:
answers[0] = cPositions[i][0];
answers[1] = cPositions[i][1];[code]..........
