Flex :: App Sometimes Take A Time Navigating Away To Another Tab And Back To Load In Browser?
Jan 18, 2011
In my Flex app I give the user the ability to open up a new item form ( s:Panel ) and create multiple items on the page.Sometimes for some odd reason bringing up the panel (simple task) seems to take a really long time to load (like 30 seconds or so) However, the weird thing is that if right after I click to open I navigate away from the Tab and back again to the Flex app tab it shows up right away.
I'm not sure if this has to do with refresh rate or some setting or is it general performance/memory issue with my app that I have to consider. When the application work it works fairly fast which is making me think it's not memory/performance issue.
Lets say i have a button on the first frame of my main timeline that leads to another frame on my main timeline. On the second frame, i have a button that has tweening animations inside it's over and down states. At the last frame of the tweening, i want to have a button that navigates to the first frame of the main timeline, and not the first frame of the tweening.
I can get my menu buttons to move me around the timeline, but am at a loss as to how to move to a frame on the main timeline using a button within a movieclip that has it's own timeline.
So what I mean is that on the mian timeline, a movieclip graphic with a button in it drops down. This movieclip has it's own timeline, and any AS to control the button has to be in this timeline. So how do I tell it 'when the button is clicked, go BACK to frame X on the MAIN timeline?
Here's the AS on the main timeline for the menu buttons (how would I adapt it to apply to buttonX within movieclipZ?, and where would I put this extra code in my movie?):
function Nav(event:MouseEvent):void { trace("Nav "+arguments) switch(event.target.name){ case "gilbert": gotoAndPlay(72); break;
So I have my function here which sets up the tween for movieClips that have images on them:
[Code]....
This code is done 20 times with different images added to two different movieClips (b0 and b1) that are waiting in the library. So, the glitch is - this function works damn near perfectly except after a while of navigating to other frames and coming back to the frame with this sometimes the b0 wont tween all the way onto the stage and sometimes not at all. And dont worry about the b0 not being described as a variable I have done this outside the button function as I was getting error messages. I have spent almost a week tooling around with this but nothing works I get the same glitches.
How can I programmatically click the browser's Back button from within my Flex application. I'm using deep linking to allow the user to navigate back/forth inside my application. I want this to work when BACKSPACE is clicked inside the application as well, but Flex captures BACKSPACE and the browser doesn't get the event. I don't want to implement browsing history myself within the application, naturally. Can I send BACKSPACE to the containing browser?
How would I go about using an XML file like the one below to control an mp3 in a player and show a jpg at the same time? Basically the mp3 is about a presentation, and the image is a slide of the presentation. If you click forward it needs to progress to the next chapter marking and display an image. If you click back it needs to go to the previous chapter marking and display the previous image.
I have a Flash website with 3 interfaces( 3 frames with movie clips inside). they have a button that goes to different loaded .html page(text). But once the back button is pushed on the web browser, it always goes back to the first frame instead of the actual last page, which might have been frame 2 or 3.
i have a login system done in flex.once the user logs in and if he refreshes the page it will take you back to the login page.how can i make the logged in user stay in the same page using flex and java only?and also if once user is logged in and another loggs in with the same user name and passwrod how can i handle dat using flex and java?
I am working on a having external swfs get loaded into the main swf one by one from an array.I can get the first one to load, but it just keeps on playing the first item in the array over and over, instead of loading the next movie. I have a container on my stage, cleverly named "container" and I am using AS2 and loadMovie.
I am guessing my conditon on my if statement is off, but I am not sure how to tell the onEnterFrame to check the currentframe of the loaded swf and not the container itself. I might be way off, but in my mind I feel like this mostly makes sense, but knowing Flash it is probably not nearly enough coding.I might also add this won't be running on the web, so I don't need to worry about preloading swfs since it will be running directly off a PC onto a screen in our office.Here is my code:
Code: var myClips:Array = ["movie1.swf", "movie2.swf", "movie3.swf", "white_logo.swf"]; var i:Number = 0; _root.container.onEnterFrame = function() {[code].....
basically this code will work like a browser back button its very simple but "could end up very long" basically it will act "similiar to the browser back button"
Code:
on (release) { if(page1 = _currentframe){ _root.gotoAndStop("quiz"); } else if (page0 = _currentframe){
[code]....
it works when the (page1 = _currentframe){ is rotated with the first if statement...because for somereason it seems to not recognise the "else if's"
I am trying to load an image in Flex from different places, and the image always loads from server again and again.Is there any way to load the image from browser cache?
I have a flash element in a page that load a chart based on some complex queries that can take up to a minute to load. I call the query with this code :
var chartData:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); chartData.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded); chartData.addEventListener("httpStatus", onHttpStatus);
I have a swf file which requires a username and password to log in. When the user enters the values and clicks the submit button I validate it using asp.net. What I want is if the validation succeeds then I want to navigate to the home page of my application which is also a swf file. How can I do this? This is my mxml code
We have a flex application and in that we have a screen that taking a lot of time to load, almost 60 seconds.Basically the screen is a very big form. I wanted to divide the form as a wizard but the client wants a single form with Vertical Scroll on. Now there are 8 sections in the form, each section has two form elements (so around 16 form components) but i have divided each section into a separate component of its own as some pieces are reused .So the whole screen is like Form - Divided into 8 sections Each Sections is an mxml components contained in a Almost each components contains two form components kept side to side in horizontal flow i.e something like that.This screen is taking hell of a lot of time to load. How should i speed it up, please tell the approaches.Also the main application doesn't take much time to load, this particular screen is loaded on the click of a button and on clicking the button the screen gets stuck because its taking a lot of time to load.
The client-side application is a Flex application and communicate with server-side java application using blazeds.As you know,most browsers don't cache SWFs loaded over https,but i want load the swfs through http so that the client brower can cache them and communicate with the server-side over https ?
I have a component mxml in which i have a save button, on click of the save button i need to display another component which will be in a tab navigator, for this I am using the view stack. My problem is, on click of save I need to display the second tab instead of the first tab, but defaultly the first tab will be displayed.
My flex application has a very bad load time (approx 5 to 8 wasted seconds) but only for FF and IE, Chrome appears fine.I've determined there is some kind of useless idle time before the application's initalization event fires. This is not just my development box, it happens everywhere. It is consistent across Flash version, OS and browser versions too. I've tried multiple. Chrome consistenly works very fast, IE and FF have this strange lag.However locally, whether via localhost or remote IP, it doesn't have this issue. I'm sure you'll think it is the download time, but my SWF is very small (400K) and I've purposely made external images that are very small. I also prefetch the images via JavaScript, and firebug reports the the cache is used later. The download size can't really justify the wait time. Not to mention, why is it so much faster in chrome? Is chrome really that fast downloading images and SWF files?
Also, minimal JavaScript is called from Flex, and I've more or less ruled out that is the issue.So it isn't Chrome's super fast handling of JavaScript.I don't see any large load times with Firebug.I see JavaScript excute in the browser inline during a page load, but then the appliation init within the SWF doesn't fire for about 5 to 8 seconds later.I don't see why flash on Chrome is so much faster, nor what could be taking so long for Flash to kick in.Tried the Flex Profiler, but memory usage spikes AFTER the bad load time.Otherwise, I don't know enough or see enough to recognize a problem with it.
I am trying to load different styles at run time. In my css files there is only description of the Application tag. If I point to the file in my mxml code: Code:<mx:Style source="name_of_the_file.css"/> it is working. The problem is that I don't know how to do this with as3. I have managed to load datawiththis:Code:StyleManager.loadStyleDeclarations( 'name_of_the_file.swf' ); My question is how I can load not swf but .css file like in the example above.
I am loading some XML with HTTPService in Flex. It is taking longer than I would like to load. So I want to do some trouble shooting, but in order to tell what is making a difference I need to be able to time the requests and how long they are taking.
What is the best way to time an http service to see how long it took from HTTPService.send() to HTTPService.result
I have a Button that when clicked loads a Flex module in my AIR application. However,occasionally the Module fails to load the first time the button is clicked, but it works the second time it's clicked. When I debug it in the debugger the READY event is not fired so the remaining logic is never called.
var moduleInfo:IModuleInfo = ModuleManager.getModule(managedModule.url); moduleInfo.addEventListener(ModuleEvent.READY, function(event:ModuleEvent):void { trace("ModuleEvent.READY called.");
I'm italian and I'm creating a CD to presentate a research to my teachers..this is probably a dumb question, but I need to make a 'back' button, similar to a back button on a browser. When people click the button, they get back to the previous scene (or frame: I didn't decide wether dviding the presentation's pages in scenes or frames) they came from.
Now, my issue: Is there a way to tell flash that the brower back button has been hit? I am creating an array in a shared object and when the browser back button has been hit, I am wanting it to go back one in the array
I've done some searches on Google and have found some useful information, but nothing to restrictive to AS3. Does anyone have any good references for enabling the back button in AS3?
I have a generic function to build rows of controls (each row comprising of sliders, radio buttons, reset buttons, text display) etc, and some functionality to change underlying data based on these
As I didn't want to write specific code for each row, I had code written by which I can detect the row on which there has been a mouseevent, and though the row access each individual control
I'm developing an application for the Blackberry Playbook using Flash Burrito 4.5 and Flex. I'd like to create a file browser to allow users to load images from the local system into the application. I followed this example [URL] When I click on the Load Image button in the simulator however, the file browser pops up but tells me that "no file was found with the specified filter", even though I don't specify any filter or even if I specify a . filter.
ve been looking for tutorials/examples of how the back button is used in flash and all i can find is the robbert penners way(loading frames), but like he's stating on his website, its too old(2001) and there are more better ways.nd what RP recommended. But like the most of the "tutorials" written on macromedia.com..ook at it and maybey explain it a lil better or maybey have a nice lil example of it.
I am currently working on a site where a button in the flash takes you to an external link. The user would like the browser back button, when you are on the external link, to take them to the page on the flash that was last viewed without restarting the flash. Is this possible?
