Because Im populating an empty movieclip with data and i want to scroll this data using a scrollbar, but instead of populating from the TOP TO BOTTOM Im populating the movieclip from the BOTTOM UPWARDS. Im having problems with my scrollbar if i did it this way. But if i populate the empty mc with data from TOP to BOTTOM, my scrollbar is working properly.

Apr 26, 2006so I'm trying to create and input textarea with a scrollbar. No scrolling buttons needed. The app will be a font previewing app, where the user can change fonts, sizes etc. kinda like [URL](hit try on any font).
Everything works fine until the user wants to add some text. I've got an easing scrollbar thing going, which almost work, but the problem is in updating the scrollbar's position after the user has typed something in (tested using onSetFocus and onKillfocus). This scroller works with a mask and the x, y and height value of the masked clip.
So I started looking into scroll and thought I'd use that. Now I'm so puzzled that I can't figure out the best way to scroll and input textarea, so that the scrollbar's position would update according to the cursor's position in the text.

May 4, 2008I've tried to use the "Simple Custom Scrollbar" tutorial to create a horizontal scrollbar instead of the vertical. I've changed the defenitions like this:

I put the "Width" instead of the "height", and "x" instead of "y". What I've got is when I push on the "scrollFace" button it slides but disappears immidietly, and the the image (which is "movieclip" as well) beneath the masked area freezes.
* In addition - I have to make this scrollbar move from right to left - Is there any additional defenitions I must concern?

Mar 23, 2006Is it possible to create a textbox with a scrollbar that can contain both text and images? Maybe some sort of ActionScript that has to do with loading external files that contains both text and images? But I presume that if it's going into a textbox, it'd have to be text.. I'd like my content in a textbox though (rather than in a movieclip) so it could be scrollable.
what I'd do is create my page in Fireworks with the text and images. So that way I can assign hyperlinks on keywords. Then the file would be saved as either PNG or HTML. Either way, could Flash import such files into a textbox and still preserve the hyperlinks?

Since the movie clip button has roll-over functionality [ btn.onRollover = function() ], I believe that's taking precedence over the inner scrollbar. I guess this goes back to the common problem of a button inside of a button.

Nov 16, 2011I've removed all of the math I had done. Just trying to get the content area (_scrollable) to move up and down behind the mask in the opposite direction, just as you'd expect a scrollbar to do to a content area.
Dragging of the scrollbar is setup and this just needs some simple math coding in the thumbMouseMove function.

I'm not talking about something like swfFit or so but actually controling a mc on stage while the rest of the swf stays in place? I've seen this done in a site that I don't remember the url to. Don't know though if they placed a div containing a swf on top of the "main" swf.

2A. The movieclip will load content corresponding to the navigation categories, all which is organized into zipped files (using this to extract the contents of each section, example: about.zip for the about section of the site)
2B. The movieclip will load multiple zipped files one by one that correspond to the navigation, in order, making the site appear to be very tall.

Flex :: Controlling Which VBox Gets Scrollbar
Nov 4, 2009I have the following application and I am trying to put a scrollbar somewhere inside the TabNavigator, preferably on the innermost Vbox, but the scrollbar always ends up on the Panel. Is there some kind of property which controls this? I thought height=100% would have controlled it but it doesn't seem to work.[code]
