ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A Dynamic Image Scrollbar

I am trying to create a dynamic xml driven video playlist, that will display the thumbnail, title and time duration of the video (quite similar to the one on youtube). But I don't know where to begin and I have been googling for some helpful tutorials but cant find anything resourceful. guide me if I shall use the Flash component for scrolling purpose or I shall learn to develop my own scroller with scrollbar. If someone knows the link of some recommended tutorial, that would be great.

I'm having an issue with a scrollbar (slyder and line) going below the height of the text field when the text file contains a link to an image in an HTML text file. This only happens when there is a tag for the image in the text file, but not when it is text only. and the code for the text file:

I would like to create a dynamic 3 layer image that can have any of the 3 layers changed. i was thinking of doing this with alpha mapping where I have a back, middle, and front layer each defined by an alpha map. So if the style or shape of these changed I just render the texture with a new alpha map to define what portion actually takes the texture. So for each of the 3 layers there is a type(defines the shape), the texture which is applied to the shape, and an alpha map that is used to specify how the shape takes the image.
Imagine a fruit basket that can have the fruit switched out or the basket, and any combination of textures applied. You could potentially see the inside of the basket which may have a different texture than the outside. The fruit would all be one image that would then fit into the basket, and finally the basket would render. Then if you swap the color of the basket but keep the same model it would update, and you could then swap the model of the basket and keep the same color. But i'd want to do it where I have 1 texture that can fit over all the baskets but is just chopped off using alpha mapping.

I have a client that is wanting me to create a flash website in which they can add products pages (product info, images, etc.) themselves after the website is completed. I will setup up the first few products then they will do the rest. Would I wanted to go with dynamic text and empty movie clips loading the images? If so how could I have this create a duplicate page that refers to the new text and image?

Is it possible to create an inverted scrollbar? Because Im populating an empty movieclip with data and i want to scroll this data using a scrollbar, but instead of populating from the TOP TO BOTTOM Im populating the movieclip from the BOTTOM UPWARDS. Im having problems with my scrollbar if i did it this way. But if i populate the empty mc with data from TOP to BOTTOM, my scrollbar is working properly.

I'm using Flash MX to create a website. The user navigates between different scenes/frames using buttons, just like moving to different pages in html (except the "pages" are different parts of the main movie's timeline).The problem I'm having is that on two embedded movie clips there are text boxes which dynamically load html-formatted text files (news updates for different topics). When I run the movie, both of these "pages"/"frames" work beautifully, but after the first time, when I come back to either of them, the dynamic text boxes' scrollbars have disappeared and the up/down scroll buttons don't work. By clicking on the loaded text and dragging I can force it to scroll, so all the content is there, but the controls are gone.
I've been searching forums for a couple of hours on this now and the only thing I found was someone found a similar issue on CS3 which required giving scrollbars instance names (which I did) and then inserting Actionscript telling them to update--and that is a bit beyond me. Is there something I have to type in when the text loads to get it to do that?The script I'm using to load the text into the fields is as basic as it gets (and obviously cut and pasted from somewhere else):

I want to make a textfield where I load my text in (via txt or xml?). Depending on how much text I load in the textfield, the textfield will get longer and Therefore the scrollbar will get smaller/bigger.

in flash8/mx04 is it possible to create a custom scrollbar for text only? i would like to make a dynamic text field with a scrollbar that doesnt need to be contained in a masked mc like most of the scrollers i have seen on this forum so far. i dont want to use the UIscrollBar component because it doesnt quite (well, doesnt at all) fit in with the theme of the project i am working on.

so I'm trying to create and input textarea with a scrollbar. No scrolling buttons needed. The app will be a font previewing app, where the user can change fonts, sizes etc. kinda like [URL](hit try on any font).
Everything works fine until the user wants to add some text. I've got an easing scrollbar thing going, which almost work, but the problem is in updating the scrollbar's position after the user has typed something in (tested using onSetFocus and onKillfocus). This scroller works with a mask and the x, y and height value of the masked clip.
So I started looking into scroll and thought I'd use that. Now I'm so puzzled that I can't figure out the best way to scroll and input textarea, so that the scrollbar's position would update according to the cursor's position in the text.

I've tried to use the "Simple Custom Scrollbar" tutorial to create a horizontal scrollbar instead of the vertical. I've changed the defenitions like this:

I put the "Width" instead of the "height", and "x" instead of "y". What I've got is when I push on the "scrollFace" button it slides but disappears immidietly, and the the image (which is "movieclip" as well) beneath the masked area freezes.
* In addition - I have to make this scrollbar move from right to left - Is there any additional defenitions I must concern?

Now, I've seen Scotty's image resizing gallery thread and love the gallery with scrolling thumbnails. Unfortunately, on my site, I have a lot of wide images that can not be shrunk down without losing valuable details. So my question is, is there ANY way to make an XML image gallery that will apply a scrollbar to an image if it exceeds a certain width?? My images are wider then the website so I will need to apply a scrollbar or scroll pane no matter what but it would be ideal to have it done where I can load the images via XML

I am trying to adopt Lee Bremelow's OOP Scrollbar 2 to load external text. So far without luck. This tutorial uses three classes. In fla file there are movieclip scrollbox, inside of which are dynamic text field (txtField) and custom scrollbar ( consisting of two clips: thumb and track). If I copy some text into text field, everything works. If load external text into text field, text is loaded but it doesn't scroll. Below are codes from all classes:

I have a dynamic text field, multi-line. I have attached ascrollbar component to it via drag and drop.It is empty but gets text dumped into it via AS'sappendText() method when the user clicks a button.It works, but if there are more lines than what fits into thetext field, the scroll bar does not "activate", and allow the usero scroll to see all of it.

I am loading some text from an XML file and plcaing it into dyncamically created TextField. But if the text is long, it doesn't comes automatically in next line and goes out of the screen. I I use Text Area, then it shows a scrollbar. How can I load text in such a manner that ir automatically comes to next line and doesn't even shows a scrollbar?
