Flex :: Dragging A Image Within A Loader?

I am having trouble in dragging a image within a loader. I am able to do zooming and rotating image but not moving image with mouse. Purpose is when I zoom a image info is out of boundaries and so is hidden. To see that info users should be able to drag the image any way they want.

I have a script that loads an external image into the stage(I have the addChild() script somewhere else) but I keep getting an error that says:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::Loader@b1b7101 to flash.display.MovieClip.

What I do to make the image draggable? *(The image is loaded when the swf starts but the image won't because I put the addChild() in a if() statement. Could it be that since the image isn't loaded, it can't be a movieclip?)

im working on an image viewer and im loading an image to a loader and then add the loader to the stage.I want the user to be able to drag and drop the image but since it's a loader i dont know how to do it.
I tried

I would like to display a spinning image, when my application is not connected to the socket server and is in an "offline" state.
So I've tried using an ajax-loader.gif, courtesy of http://www.ajaxload.info/

but unfortunately the bitmap is not animated (does not spin).
Is there a way to do that, how do you approach displaying a "loading indicator" in your Flex 4.5 programs?
Or do I have to fallback to mx.controls.ProgressBar?

I'm building an Adobe Air app that needs to load external images from different webservers. I have my basic loader function set up, but I encountered one server that wouldn't let me load it's images. it gave me the following error[url]...
After that I got in contact with the server's manager and he told me he had been working on some basisc hotlink protection for his images. He also told me that I could subvert this by supplying[url]... as the referrer when building the request headers.
First of all I found no trace of hotlink protection with online testapplications for hotlink protection. Secondly I have no idea how to set up what he told me with a simple Loader class function.[code]...

I have been working on this project. I am pretty new to flash but developing a map application with pan and zoom. I decided to improve it slightly by adding in mouse functionality. I have the mouse wheel controlling zoom, and I understand the object.startdrag and stopstopdrag and how to make it work. How ever it moves the entire object, which meeses up the built in buttons that pan around the map.I am wondering if any of the flash gurus on this site would venture a guess for a solution to making mouse down add a pan function similar to the way button clicks work.[code]

I am really interested in the separate images loading and connecting at the xpoint. And of course the tween dragging of the overall sections. I have a project with a deadline.I have a panel of images that scroll with mouse_over. When I drag an image over the panel and get to the other side of the panel - basically hitting the image against the border of the panel, the panel stops scrolling.I can resolve this?Here is the code:

I have this piece of code to change images. I was trying to figure out how you could put a timer on the code, so if the image has been displayed for say 5 seconds it diverts to the next image automatically? Also if it's not to hard, when it has played to the end to divert to the 1st image.

[code]This script is for a loader image gallery in flash, as part of a class assignment. What happens is that in flash, when I open the swf file, the initial image (images/nair_evanescentautumn.png) will load fine. However, clicking on any thumbnail image (including the exact same images/nair_evanescentautumn.png), will result in an error saying the file cannot be found.I cannot figure out why it is doing this... I've tested it over. Clicking each thumbnail does go to the correct position in the two separate functions. All said full-size image links are in the folder images/, and replacing the initial loader image will load the other images in place of the default one. However, clicking on any thumbnail still results in URL not found, even though everything works correctly.[code]Before anyone asks why I'm putting this kind of content into a flash site, I'm not--this is only for a class assignment. I'm just trying to figure out why my images aren't loading right when I'm only doing the exact same thing in the functions as I am on the other pages.Of note, commissions.swf has the exact same feature, just with swf files loaded instead, and it works perfectly fine. home, traditional, digital, and photography all have the image gallery, and all have the same issue (I only referenced one page because if I can fix one page I should be able to fix all of them).As for the artworks, they are all my fiance's. Everytime I'm trying to drag an image from the library to the stage, the program crashes. I've been sending the crash logs to Adobe many times, but never got any solution from them.
In the log there a line that says:
<crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" instruction="0x0c4feb66>
I'm working with 10.0.2, I thought the latest update will fix that, but it doesn't. Changing the UI from Essential to Classic doesn't help

My application (AS3) uses Flash Player right-click zoom feature. However, when zoomed in I cannot drag when the cursor is over an image, navigation bar or active area.This makes the menu and several other pages impossible to navigate when zoomed in.The only option is for the user to zoom out and then zoom back in on the next area they want to look at.how default dragging can be enabled when cursor is over an image/ moviclip?

I have run into a drag and drop issue .I have an item that I would like to drag and drop. Seems simple enough, but I also want to make it that if the user drags the image off the screen, that it stops dragging and returns the image to the center of the screen. What happens now is that it continues dragging and sticks to the cursor if you release outside of the viewable area. The original piece has a lot of other things going on, so I ve created a simple piece with the AS in the timeline that shows only this particular issue.

I've looked through a couple threads here about reflecting images... but I don't quite understand it. I will include a link to my project thus far: Final Project First of all, ignore the music/mp3 items at the bottom of the stage. Those aren't wired up yet. When you click on a bike image on the right, the reflection image should appear under the image... but it's not quite working out that way, and I've tried a few things. so I am trying to drag around some images in a canvas. I am adding eventlisteners to the components and calling startDrag() and stopDrag() to pick them up and stuff:
component.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, component.startDrag)
The problem is that it is selecting the image at its (0,0) location and not where I initially click on it. So there's a sudden "jump" when I click on the image. It is not smooth.
I noticed that startDrag() has two default parameters, one of them is lockCenter and it is default to false. Maybe do I set it equal to true somehow? (I don't know how to pass arguments to my second parameter in addeventlistener)
Another question: if I want to add more conditions to it, like make a new function that uses component.startDrag(), how do I pass the component to this function while adding event listener to it at the same time? for example: I want to do:
component.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, some_other_function);
where some_other_function uses component.startDrag();

I'm currently working on a WYSISYG editor that allows the user to move, resize and rotate shapes by directly manipulating them. The resizing seems to be fairly complex when the shape is rotated. I got this working for non-rotated shapes, but it will take some trigonometric calculations to resize shapes that are rotated. The registration point is always is the middle of the rectangle because this makes rotating a lot easier. Before I start implementing this, I was wondering if anyone knew of any libraries or sample source code that does this, or could share some tips and tricks to calculate the transformations.

I am trying to create a simple Music player has play/pause button and an HSlider that shows the position of the song as it is playing using a custom SliderThumbClass. I would like allow the user to drag/drop the sliderthumb or click on the sliderbar to change the position of the song currently playing.
With the code I have below, if I use the sliderThumb to change the position of the currently playing song, it works great. But I if I click directly on the slidertrack to jump ahead/back, the current position doesnt move and there is some flashing of the current position, but it jumps back to where it was and continues playing the song. This does work if I am in the paused state.
As expected, thumbDrag/Press/Release events are not triggered when the user clicks on the sliderTrack - What events should I be subscribing for to handle this case?

I have a problem with redrawing in flex 4. I have a spark titleWindow, and if i drag it faster, it looks like it's mask is one frame late after the component. it's easily visible with 1pixel thin border, because it becomes invisible even with slower movement.

If you move in direction up, you see disappearing top border. in another directions it's not that sensitive as it has wide shadow, and it's not very visible on shadow. On my computer i see it on every spark TitleWindow i have found on google, although it's much less visible with less contrast skins, without borders or with shadows.

I have Sprites that I want to have move around when I click and hold them and stop when I release them. I have methods that add Event listeners to the Sprites:[code]My problem is: when I click on the Sprites, as soon as I move the cursor, the Sprite's registration point snaps to the cursor, and when I release the mouse the Sprite doesn't stop following the cursor. I initially thought it was a problem with pixel collision. I thought the cursor wasn't touching anything on MOUSE_UP, but that proved to be false after I experimented. I even replicated the exact same Event adding and handling methods by starting another project and found that I wasn't having this problem. The test Sprite was simply dragging and dropping like usual, not snapping to the registration point, and being dragged by the point I clicked.
The only difference I can see, and also my only suspicion, is that the Sprites in my original code are being added to a Sprite, which is then being added to the stage, whereas the Sprite in the test project is being added to the root DisplayObject. I'm thinking that somehow the Event propagating down to the container Sprite and dragging and dropping that without dropping the other Sprite. The weird snapping I'm seeing might be the cursor snapping to the object behind the other sprite. Another important thing: when I drop a Sprite on top of another Sprite, that Sprite stops moving like I want it to, but still trails the registration point.
