I'm at a very basic level with Flex and with programming in general. I am working on a project where I have data in an Excel (.csv) format, it's a large Excel plot/matrix where each cell has a temperature number. I want to import this matrix into Flex somehow, or parse the data in Flex, so that this matrix turns into an interactive heat with colors corresponding to varying temperatures from blue (cold) to red (hot), and each spot on roll over shows the temperature number.
Should I use plot charts, or some other control? should I convert data into XML or import into a MySQL database, would that be easier for Flex? But then, again, the data is basically just a large matrix, there's no headers/ fields in a traditional database sense, just many cells each having a temperature number. how I can import the data into Flex and use it as data provider to plot the heat map?
i am trying to import to flash an xml file, generated from Excel. I got some tutorials from internet but the format of xml file from excel it's different and i can't manage to access data from it. if i type trace(xmldata); it shows me the full content of xml file. But how can i acces the correct data if in the xml file it is written:
My friend and I were looking into trying to have flash (cs3 or 4 probably) communicate somehow with Excel*, I know this is a general question, but is that in any way possible?
I am working on a project where I need an interactive matrix of 500x500 clickable lements. I thought this would be an easy task in actionscript3 but boy was I wrong. was able to create a matrix where each element was a Sprite object with attached Mouse click event. But here the performance problems begin. FlashPlayer10 can handle up to 100x100 matrix, but when I increase my matrix I start getting script timeout in browser player... Here is how my "unfinished" matrix looks like.
So how should I approach this problem? I was hoping flash will be able to handle so many elements, but I guess I was wrong. I want to have a pan control to pan around for objects off screen and of course zoom in/out control.It's true I'm not very professional in Flahs and actionscript but a friend who is told me this would be no problem implementing in AS3? I need this in flash as the thing needs to be hosted on website (unless there is a better tool for doing something like this...).
Has anyone here ever developed a function (or general library of relevant functions) that will allow one to find the inverse of a matrix? I've searched the forum archives, as well as the internet more generally, but haven't found anything. If anyone has some leads, I hope you'll pass them along.
If I don't hear anything within the next few days, I might try to develop something on my own, but I'd hate to do so if someone has already done the dirty work.
A solution to this problem would be very useful for 3-D work or anyone doing mathematical programming more generally.
Our users want to copy and paste some rows from an Excel spreadsheet, or a chart generated in Excel, into a text box within a Flex application.It would be ok for it not to be fully functional, like an ActiveX object, embedded in the flex app. If it converted it to a static image, that would be fine. But I don't know of any Flex component that supports this.
I am trying to develop an application which can be used locally by my team mates. its a sort of issue tracking application with report generation. am planning to do it on flex. in my company environment, i do have a lots of restrictions like, can't install AIR, no database, etc.
so am planning to develop on flex app, and put it in a shared drive. now the main problem is how can i store data. i have an idea like using excel files as database. I want opinion about this option, as well as, if anyone has tried reading and writing excel files from Flex application I want the suggestions also.
Datagrid with 3 columns namely Name,Place and Country. In order to export these columns values to Excel sheet by Clicking a Button called 'Export to Excel'. When Click this button, the values in datagrid is exported in excel sheet.
I have a flex-application deployed on tomcat with blazeds. User constantly selects ranges excel-document. Now, a user enters a cell addresses in text fields (for example, C1: C20). But it is very inconvenient! How to display excel-data as a table in my application? I think, I can parse excel-document using Apach POI and transmit these data to the Flex-application. But there are other ways?
with the platform j2ee,data of datagrid is from java dao(from the database),so which way is better,to export the data of datagrid to Excel with java dao or flex?
How do I export data in my datagrid to an Excel file in Flex?Can anyone provide some examples for that? I am browsing but couldn't find out a single example of that kind.Browsed a lot and found out how to convert datagrid data to csv format. Now How to convert that to excel? Is there a way to do that without using any server script ? Can't it be done in Flex alone?
I have an AIR application with two DataGrids that I would like to export to Excel. I've found the as3xls library, but it can only handle one sheet (as per the comments). Ideally, I'd like to export both DataGrids into separate sheets in the same workbook.
The AIR application is running entirely on the user's desktop and doesn't have a connection to any server, so the solution would need to be Flex/AIR only.
I have a Flex application with a couple of DataGrids with data. I'd like to save the data to a file so that the user can keep working with them in Excel, OpenOffice or Numbers.
I'm currently writing a csv file straight off, which opens well in OpenOffice or Numbers, but not in Excel. The problem is with the Swedish characters, which turn up as other characters when opening in Excel. Converting (in Notepad++) the csv-file to ANSI encoding makes the show up correctly in Excel.
Is there any way to write ANSI-encoded files straight from Flex?
Any other options for writing a file that can be opened in Excel and OpenOffice?
i'm trying to perform simple automated test on my Adobe Air Application. I decide to store some test data in external MS Excel file to decrease hardcode quantity. But I discovered, that this is not a trivial task, when you're working with Adobe Air.
Actually, i need to correct initialize an excelApp object, the rest part of logger is already implemented. I tried the following approach, but I can't find a package with ActiveXObject class defined.
excelApp = new ActiveXObject("Excel.Application");
What is the best way to open and parse and excell file from a Flex Application built using Adobe Flash Builder 4.5. I have done tons of research, most lead me to external libraries, I could deal with that if that is the best approach, but prefer a built in method.
i already know how to create a simple turret / cannon type game wherein the turret will fix its rotation based on where the users mouse is.. from there, the user can fire bullets which fly into the direction where the turret was pointed at when it was fired..
however, i want to take it a step further and make the turret fire bullets that can follow the mouse as i move it on stage (sort of like a "heat-seeking" missile) .. once i stop moving the mouse around the stage and the bullet catches up / arrives at the mouseX and mouseY, it will remove itself...
below is the code i used for the simple turret / cannon type game. i was wondering what i should add / modify in the code to make the "heat-seeking" work...
I`m using flash cs3 for my works , but i have one problem!when i use File=> Import=> Import to Library... or Import to Stage...the flash environment becomes terminated.I changed my flash version to CS4 and I have this problem again.
How can I rotate an Image eg. 180 degrees clockwise using the Matrix. I can use the following code to rotate the image 90 degrees, but it is incremental, meaing
var matrix:Matrix = new Matrix(); matrix.rotate(Math.PI/2); matrix.tx = imgControl.content.height; var bitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(imgControl.content.height, imgControl.content.width); bitmapData.draw(imgControl.content, matrix); imgControl.source = new Bitmap( bitmapData);
I have a UI component that I wish to relocate and scale, but in a rather complex way. I've figured out the necessary transformations using the transform matrix, to which I applied several translate and scale operations. I can set the new transform matrix for this UI component to be the above calculated matrix, and the results are accurate; but I need to animate the transition. I can't use the Scale/Move effects alone because they aren't as powerful when it comes to calculating the necessary transformation as the matrices are.So how can I animate the transition of an object given a source and a target transform matrix?Figured it outUsing a tweener and its onUpdate event to reassign the matrix with each intermediate value:
var animMatrix : Matrix = gi.transform.matrix; TweenMax.to(animMatrix, 1, { a : m.a,
someone could tell me how I can zoom a Canvas, with transform.matrix, so that the content of the component fits into the parent container (application), either inward or outward
this function is called Zoomfit(), I have this code:
var snapshot:ImageSnapshot = ImageSnapshot.captureImage(someSprite); var file:FileReference = new FileReference(); file.save(snapshot.data,'abc.png');
n the above code I am able to capture an image.But I also want to apply a scalingMatrix(for zoomIn/Out) and a clipping rectangle to it. How to do it? I tried capturebitmapdata too, but with that I can't even get a proper image. See here. So I don't want to use that.
i have a mobile application that i am attempting to use to load an interactive .swf file. At first, i was just going to use the .mxml applications from my other project file in flex, but they're for desktop apps and running on Flex 3.6, and Mobile apps can't be built on less than 4.5 :P
so, i figured i'd export the first project to a .swf, and load it in my mobile application, but nothing i do will get it to show up. anyone know a solution?
i need of simple UsA map in flex ,all Area need to be click able as button Is there any tool available for designing buttons in various shape in flex or any build in free map is available in flex. As vector format so that zoom in will not affect the quality.[URL]..
