When an image of size 100x80 is loaded inside it, the image does does not resize to 600x400. That's because scaleContent = true.
Then, I set maintainAspectRatio = true. The image did resize to 600x400 but obviously, it was totally out of proportion.
So how do I always fit any sized image to the current size of the SWFLoader while maintaining the aspect Ratio? The resized image may be cropped, which is ok.
SCENARIO: An image of size 1500x10 is loaded inside the above SWFloader. In this case the height(10) should be resized to 400 and the width(1500) should automatically resize depending on the height. A lot of the image will be cropped, which is fine.
I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.

Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. As the layout is not like a grid, is sparse, random items at diferent points(x, y).How to get the localX and localY, relative to item renderer and not to the Spark List, from a DragEvent in Flex 4?
I need a List that resizes to exactly fit its content, unless that height exceeds its (dynamically sized) parent container. My requirements are as follows:
The component extends List, or at least acts similarly. variableRowHeight and wordWrap both equal to true. The height of the list cannot be less than minHeight (roughly 32px for scrollbar arrows). The height of the list cannot be greater than the height of the parent container .
Note that the parent container can be resized dynamically.
The height of the list should be updated as the size of both the contents and parent container changes.
Live updating would be preferable but not necessary.
There should be no scrollbars if the content height is less than the parent container height (sounds obvious, but I've had trouble with this too).
The trouble is that with variableRowHeight and wordWrap, it's very hard to know the size of the content at any given time. If the parent container's width is reduced, a line wrap may occur in the list which will change the height of the content. I know I can measure the height of the list content using measureHeightOfItems() + viewMetrics.top + viewMetrics.bottom, but when should I calculate that? What events should I listen for? And the thing I've had the most trouble with - when should I calculate it to set the size initially (i.e. just as the content has finished populating)?

CreationComplete will fire, and then I try, after that, to make a event listener for loading the actual swf, that doesn't fire.I've tried it a variety of different ways with no luck.All I am trying to do is change a text field in the loaded swf.I imagine this might be a problem with the sequence of things loading or something like that, but not sure.

I have two components. One is called "InsideComp" and one is called "OutsideComp". OutsideComp has InsideComp as one piece of its component, and in my main MXML file, I have embedded an instance of OutsideComp. I have an application that I'm migrating from flex 3 to flex 4.5. In this application, there is some mx Image components that load a simple swf file (image). Spark image doesn't load swf files, so I was wondering, should I keep the mx Image, or should I change it to SWFLoader? Is there any advantages to using one or the other?

I have spent some time looking at the Kirupa XML gallery with the thumb navigaition sliderOne problem emerge when i use different sized images (same height, different widths).If one thumbnail is half the width of the others, that thumbnail will be placed directly on top of one of the others. Furthermore if the "large" image also is half the width of the others (which it also is here) it'll get placed starting from the left and have a gray background where there is no image (which makes sense since the background is grey in the .fla).My question is: how i can get the gallery to display all thumbnails with the same spacing between them no matter what width they have (in my case they will all have same height). And if a thumbnail is not as large as the "default size"(for example 67 in height and 100 in width) is it possible to center that image in the "large image" display?
How do I align a movieclip, which width and height is user-defined, inside another object (this one is static, though). Top-left alignment is easy, x=0 and y=0, but what about center, center left, bottom left, etc? Math(.round) i suppose, but how?I want an object (static) inside the movieclip (user-defined) to stay aligned to, for instance, the top right corner, similiar to the minimize, maximize and close buttons at the top right of your browser.. The height and width data is pre-defined by the user in another file.But that does probably not make any difference...
I am creating a custom component in Flex with extends the BorderContainer class, and I would like to be able to place additional content within the tagset when I use it in my main application, like this:

This works just fine, except that my component definition had some additional things inside of it, such as a <s:Label/> and styling, which is replaced by the content within the tagset above when I go to use it.
If I do not put anything within the tagset, the content that was originally in the component is not replaced.
Is there a way that I can simply append additional content inside of the component when I go to use it, instead of it being replaced each time?
How do I say an MXML component is inside some package? Well, it's in a different folder... I know how to do it ActionScript... But when I do in MXML I don't declare the package explicitly because I don't know how, and when I call it to my application, it states that The prefix "package" for element "package:Component" is not bound.
But I get a warning from Flex that the binding wouldn't work that way and it doesn't. It works the first time I load up the component but every time I change findFriendsPaginationElement it doesn't reflect on the component. Do you know how I can go about doing this? (making changing a value in the binding variable changes the status of an element inside a component?)
I've developed a component which is a combination of a few items (canvas, labels, etc...) but when I try to bind it to a variable such as: {stationXML.getItemAt(1).AAA.@value}, it doesnt work. Before I combined all the items in a component, they were all in the main MXML file at which time they worked. Not sure if it matters, but the "stationXML" arraycollection variable is declared inside the file "Station.as".
I've created a custom component based on Image component. I want to teach it to respond to change of binded variable. E.g. if main class has a variable balance, I want the component to change image in case balance = 100 one image, in case balance = 50 to another.[code]...
I googled for almost a day to find the answer to my question: [URL]. This almost works (and is a great solution), but the solution doesn't work when I do: 1). Copy and paste multiple-line texts. 2). Write long and scroll the texts. I also found another working example at: [URL]. (The autocomplete prompt appears when you press ctrl+space right at the caret's position). But an email from its author says he uses monotype fonts to calculate individual character's location. Is there a way to get multi-line input from a textfield?
