I am trying to change the datagrid header color by editing headerColor style. I could change the font size, font family...etc except the headerColor. My code
I must be making a simple mistake (new to Flex). Here is main.mxml:
[Code]...
The Canvas renders fine in design mode (a nice deep blue) but when I run the application (either in the browser or in the Flash Player) the frame is red (the color from the Application tag). If I specify the color for the Canvas directly, instead of through the styleName, it works as expected (blue canvas at runtime). I'm using FlexBuilder3, and would much rather put colors in a .css file than on every Flex element Additional problem description ... has nothing to do with an external .css file. Even if I declare the CSS styles within the main.xml file, it still looks fine in Design mode and wrong when it runs. I am completely stymied.
I have created a style in which i am defining a font family.When i apply this style to label it reflects the font were as there is no change when it is applied to a spark button.I Tried various way to Apply font style but it doesn't work.Other properties work fine except font family. Even i tried creating skin class and set the font family style of label in it. While previewing the skin i can see the changes but when i apply it to buttonApproach 1
My air app is using the FlexChrome instead of the system chrome. The problem is I also have a .CSS for skinning that sets the skins for the Button class. This is also changing the 3 buttons (minimize, maximize, close) in the flex chrome which is undesired. Is there a way to make it not effect the Flex chrome buttons?Also the css file is in a central location and I use it for many apps so I would like not to have to change the css file but change something in my app only so I do not effect other projects.
Is it possible to set their width with Style, something like this: I tried it, but auto-complete isn't working, which leads me to think that there's something wrong with the syntax. Basically my goal is to not have the width property set specifically for all 4.
Using an FLV playback component, I am reading subtitles into a dynamic text box. I'm essentially using the same XML code seen here:URL]..Only problem is, the style tags aren't working for me. They do nothing, and the font style options selected on the stage in the FLA seem to override any style tags.
I'm wondering - does the text box need to be created in Action Script (as opposed to on the stage)? [FYI, I just tried this, this did not seem to work either]. What else could it be?
(Note that I can achieve styling through using CDATA tags, which makes matters more confusing to me. I'd prefer to use the timed text ones if they can work, as they are a little better for readability).
I'm trying to create a simple button that has an animation in it after you click it. Specifically a clockwise circle animates. PacMan dieing is a good example of what i'm trying to do. Think of a pizza pie and every sec a slice gets taken out till its all gone. Is there a programmatic way of achieving this in ActionScript 3 or do i have to manually animate it in photoshop?
I know how to make a button i'm just not sure how to animate it. If all else fails i think i'm going to grey out the button and then start a countdown from 9 down to 1 then re-enable it.
I know how to set the style for a radio button in AS3, but is it possible to apply a text format style to a radio button group, rather than each individual button?
I am Carlos, I am working on a little App in Flash CS5 but I cant find the way to set a Font Style to a label or button components.
The program just add values to a variable and print it to the label, that works perfect, the problem is that when I test the app, the text size in the label and button are so small that they are useless.
As a Workaround I add a text with TextTool in which I can set "Character" in list of properties, but no "Character" section in list of properties for Label or Button.
When setting the icon to a Button, a Class of an image is needed. This can be done very simply by embeding an image. But what I would like to do is use an image known only at runtime.More exactly I can not download an image from an external source, obtain it bitmapData or something else, convert it and assign it as the icon style for a Button.So my problem is that for the Flex components that need an image, a Class needs to be assigned, and I can not use an external image to download it, to convert it in some way and assign it
If you have two text areas with different styles (fontFamily, weight, color etc) and you copy text from one to the other it also copies the style from the originating text area. Is there any slick way to prevent that?
Here is a sample of code that will illustrate the problem. Type some text in the top box and some text in the bottom, then copy some characters from the top box to the bottom. I'm not using htmltext.[code]...
Is it possible to style the string returned from the labelFunction so I can change color and font of the callout (inside)? Or some other way? (It seems like a big limitation to have that only return a string that is unstylable.)
I'm interested in finding out the best approach to this issue, it's not technically difficult but there must be an elegant solution. Basically i have a form that features mostly text inputs, i would like to change the style of the input boxes based on the current state. I can do this in the mxml on each input...
I have a mc which is 3 frames, with labels "Not Selected", "OverState" and "Selected". I add them to the stage with the first block of code, that is fine. The second block of code is my attempt to handle the states of the buttons. A selected mc goes to the correct state but it needs to go to "Not Selected" when another is clicked. My code does not do that. Also how do I handle the problem of MouseOver and MouseOut still working after a button is clicked?
PHP Code: var numBtnArray:Array = new Array; //add number buttons function addNumButtonsToStage():void{ for(var i:int = 0; i < 4;i++){ var numBtn:numBtn_mc = new numBtn_mc(); buttons_mc.addChild(numBtn); [Code] .....
NOTE: I chose to keep the history of the topic cause I think the searching process might be usefull to someone. If you want the solution go to the bottom of my post.
I searched but I didnt find my answer either on Google and StackOverflow (not even a single tutorial on it).I would like to create a rollover highlight on a button, like the windows 7 taskbar. The highlight moves and is function of where the mouse is on the button. I dont want any image on my button (only color gradient) to keep a standard component.
I've got a comboBox component on the stage, instance name 'combo'. I want to style the text. I followed the adobe instructions, but they seem not work, and I get no errors.
Code: import fl.data.DataProvider; import flash.text.TextFormat; var tf:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
I have created a dynamic accordion style navigation button using both Falsh and XML.I have the XML loading at a certain keyframe after the navigation button is fully expanded creating 7 sub navigation buttons which link to a certain website.
The Issue I'm having is when the user rolls off the button the it collaspes but the 7 sub navigation buttons still remain.
I have an FLV component and I wanted to create a huge PLAY button in the middle of the screen so if the video doesn't start automatically a user can click on it and it fades out. If the video stalls a user can click on it again and start the video.I would like it to be arranged as follows:1.play_btn fades in on the startMY PROBLEM: I did it it works, but not sure if it is an optimal solution. I did not assign any function as this way tween starts automatically. Or it is better to assign something like ON_START or ON_LOAD and not sure what is the proper function.
2.If the video starts to play on its own without a user clicking a play button it should dissapear and if the video stops it should appear.MY PROBLEM: Presently I achieved it to fade out on the click, but it stays on the screen unless I am to click on it. If I make background of the button to the size of the video then when a video stops and a user just clicks somewhere around on the screen he hits an invisible play button and video resumes. The button does not come up if the video stops..Extra special desire. If a user clicks on the video then it is paused and a button changes to a pause symbolMY PROBLEM: This third option may be too complicated for me with all "if" statements, but if not too much to ask would like to see how it can be done.here is the code I was able to come up with:
var play_btn_Tween:TweenMax = TweenMax.from(play_btn, .5, {alpha:0}); play_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick_Play); function onClick_Play(event:MouseEvent) :void {
I'm using flash builder 4.5 to make a website. At the moment I'm trying to work on the layout of my website but I'm facing some problems. First of all my CSS looks like this.
I want to take a static text field, convert it into a button, and use it as a button. I need it static, because I changed orientation, and I do not know how to do that otherwise. The problem is, even though I converted it to a Button symbol, it does not work when I test the movie. It works fine with "Enable simple buttons", but when I test it, the button is not there, no change in mouse cursor, no reaction at all.So this is what I did:
Made text. // static, not selectable, Orientation: vertical left to right, / //rotated; Two filters: Drop Shadow and Glow;
Converted text field to Button - Symbol (scrollBT)
Editing the Button,I put the same content (the static text field) in all four frames: No luck, not working. without the Hit frame filled (which I think doesn't really make a difference): No luck, not working.Tried again, converting the static text field in the button into a Graphic Symbol: No luck, not working.Tried again, and put some differences in the frames for "ON" and "OVER" etc.: No luck, not working.Tried again, duplicating a similar, working button, edited it, and: No luck, not working.
To the button itself and the AS: The button will be a scroll-button for a text field, with different scroll speeds on rollover and press, but nothing else. The code for that I have (I think). It's something like (and please excuse my incorrect syntax here, but I'm typing from memory; still, I use the Script-Assistant and my syntax is apparently correct; it's also working with other buttons):
on {rollOver} { function (scroll) { textfieldtxt.scroll - = 1;}[code]....
I'm at the end of my wits. The only difference I can tell from other (working) buttons I did the same way, is that the scrollBt does not do anything except scrolling, while all of the others have frame actions (gotoAndplay etc.) associated with them.
The ad on the bottom right of the screen (the one with lightning flashing) has an invisible button in its Flash file (CS5) linking to [URL]. This file is imported as SWF in Dreamweaver CS5.
The hyperlink works in Firefox, but not in Safari. Maybe it is just my computer.
I have a flash object which dimension and position are as same as the HTML button. The button is under the flash object. I want when the flash is clicked and hovered, the button has the styles as if it is clicked and hovered at the same time. I am trying to call: ExternalInterface.call("mouseEventHandle", elementId, eventName); in flash to pass event to JS. And in JS(coffeescript): window.mouseEventHandle = (elementId, eventName) -> id = '#' + elementId switch event when "down" then console.log("down") when "up" then console.log("up") when "enter" then console.log("enter") else console.log("leave") # leave the function is responsible for styling the HTML button. The question is how to style the button under in JS? Or is there other way to achieve the goal?
I do a lot of work with GWT but don't have experience of Flex. I was talking to a guy today who was looking at moving some large Flex based applications to GWT due to the Flex application getting too big and using too much memory in the browser. This is a problem I have had before with GWT - browser apps using lots of memory as all the code gets loaded when it starts.
However, in GWT 2.0 there is now a code splitting feature to overcome the problem of the client code getting too big. This allows all the code (javascript) not to be loaded as one big file on start up but instead code split into different files that can be loaded when required.
I was thinking as to if there is anything similar in Flex. I assume the Flex application code all lives in one single SWF file which loads at start-up so this approach is not possible but thought there might be other solutions.
I have a fairly complex Flex application that uses many different components. I want the application to be able to custom styling and/or skinning. I also want to be sure that the styling approach makes the most efficient use of system resources (memory, CPU, network), and that it does not adversely impact performance. We currently are using a hybrid approach to styling the application that uses both CSS and a Flash skin created in CS3. It seems odd to me to have a two-pronged approach to styling an application and ideally would like to settle on one approach or the other. Some outline about advantages and disadvantages of using either exclusively CSS or a Flash skin? Is there a justification for using both within the same app?
Using CSS exclusively seems advantageous because it is approachable by anyone with a basic understanding of other uses of CSS, especially when using the Flex 2 Style Explorer. On the other hand, I know that the CS3 skin we use declares up/over/down/disabled/pressed skins for each component where these states are needed and Flex manages the transitions to the appropriate skins as each state is (de)activated. However, my impression is that creation of a Flex skin in CS3 requires somewhat specialized skills and tools. So what would you recommend for styling a Flex application if performance, customization, and efficient resource utilization are priorities?
I'm using a CSS file to style my flex application. can I use components IDs to change their style from the CSS file? Or I should add the styleName attribute for each element?
