Jun 13, 2011I have a Flex DataGrid where one individual cell needs to be rendered in a different way from others. Specifically, for one row of the grid, one of its cells should be hidden.
The DataGridColumn is set out like this in my .mxml file:

but that doesn't work - in fact it messes up the display in a rather entertaining fashion (one of the other cells in the row gets an extra checkbox.. I suspect it may be possible by using a custom ItemRenderer class but that seems like a lot of code overhead for a fairly simple case.
Flex :: FillColors Style Seems Not Working For Button?

Css :: Flex Style Not Working In A Trival Case
Jun 15, 2009I must be making a simple mistake (new to Flex). Here is main.mxml:

The Canvas renders fine in design mode (a nice deep blue) but when I run the application (either in the browser or in the Flash Player) the frame is red (the color from the Application tag). If I specify the color for the Canvas directly, instead of through the styleName, it works as expected (blue canvas at runtime). I'm using FlexBuilder3, and would much rather put colors in a .css file than on every Flex element Additional problem description ... has nothing to do with an external .css file. Even if I declare the CSS styles within the main.xml file, it still looks fine in Design mode and wrong when it runs. I am completely stymied.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flex - Datagrid Not Working When Online?
May 9, 2009So, I have a simple registration form with a datagrid underneath. When you register, your name shows up in the datagrid. It's a list of people who has registered.This all works just like it should when tested locally. Online though, you can only register, but the datagrid won't load the names. It's empty, even though the database has been updated.

I think one possible option can be extend the datagrid and override the drawRowBackgroungd function. Apart from this can i use some custom item renderer or some property similar to label function of a series, there it used to return label here we need a style.

Apr 17, 2010I realize that ItemFocusIn is somehow only applicable to editable datagrids in flex,nevertheless I want to fire an event anytime the user selects a new row in a non-editable datagrid. I have successfully used the CLICK event, but this event is not fired when the user uses the keyboard to select a different row in the datagrid. What do I have to do to cause an event to fire whenever the currently highlighted row in the datagrid changes, regardless of weather it was changed by the mouse or by the keyboard?

May 26, 2010I've added styles to my datagrid text using setStyle and and setRenderStyle. My datagrid fields are set as editable. When you click on the editable text it reverts to a much smaller font. Is there a way to add styles to the input font?

Aug 17, 2010I have a DropDownList inside the itemEditor of my DataGrid. There are enough items in the DropDownList to justify scrollbars. You can see the scrollbars, and the mousewheel works fine. If you move the mouse over the scrollbars, they'll change appearance fine (mouseover is working). If you click on them, the DropDownList closes as if you'd clicked elsewhere in the data grid.
I've been experimenting with custom skins hoping to find a way to trap the mouse event, but have been unsuccessful.
FWIW, this is Flex4, as an AIR app.

Jun 16, 2010Using an FLV playback component, I am reading subtitles into a dynamic text box. I'm essentially using the same XML code seen here:URL]..Only problem is, the style tags aren't working for me. They do nothing, and the font style options selected on the stage in the FLA seem to override any style tags.
I'm wondering - does the text box need to be created in Action Script (as opposed to on the stage)? [FYI, I just tried this, this did not seem to work either]. What else could it be?
(Note that I can achieve styling through using CDATA tags, which makes matters more confusing to me. I'd prefer to use the timed text ones if they can work, as they are a little better for readability).

Mar 15, 2010I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems:
If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up... Is there anything now wright in the setup of my set data method?

It will create as many checkboxes at are visible, plus a few more for padding, and then reuse them as you scroll. This is why you need to explicitly manage their state. How can improve it ? Flex :: Prevent Copying Style From One Flex TextArea To Another?
Nov 3, 2009If you have two text areas with different styles (fontFamily, weight, color etc) and you copy text from one to the other it also copies the style from the originating text area. Is there any slick way to prevent that?
Here is a sample of code that will illustrate the problem. Type some text in the top box and some text in the bottom, then copy some characters from the top box to the bottom. I'm not using htmltext.[code]...

ActionScript 3.0 :: DataGrid Exported To PDF Not Working Properly
Mar 22, 2012What I'm trying to do is export a datagrid to a PDF, which is working fine except that it keeps dropping out the data of the 4th column every time. I've set breakpoints to make sure the data is still there and it shows up but when the PDF is created that whole column has no data in it.

May 13, 2011in Flex I have something like that: [code]and dg is ALWAYS pointing at DataGrid (even if dg1 has name DataGrid_test and dg2 = DataGrid_test2) and finally action is made on my first DataGrid (DataGrid_test).[code]and search still points at ColorColumn :/ My problem is really easy- I just want to pass to search different dataGrid on each state.But still I don't understand why it doesn't work. My search function uses algorhitm Boyer-Moor for searching through dataGrid.dataProvider for some text. If it find something then it is pushed into new array and after passing whole dataProvider I colorize rows with searched word.
