I've added styles to my datagrid text using setStyle and and setRenderStyle. My datagrid fields are set as editable. When you click on the editable text it reverts to a much smaller font. Is there a way to add styles to the input font?

View 1 RepliesWhat I am trying to do is have a user input his data into multiple textboxes, then once the data is entered it is displayed on the datagrid at runtime. The problem is when I run the app I click my button but no information entered is added to datagrid. My textboxes are also supposed to clear once the button is pressed but again nothing happens. I've been researching for days now and trying to learn as much as i can in regards to DataGrids, DataSets and filtering. What I'm wanting to do, is once I have my information populated into a datagrid, how would i go about filtering the information with an input text box. Not with a drop down, not with a check box, or a radio button but an input text box. In doing it this way, it would allow the user to define by what variable they want to search by.
It would be great if the filtering would search across all of the columns in the field and find everything it needs to regardless of the column its in, but for now, if there are columns set up like this:

Is there a way to make the default item renderer in a Datagrid look like a text input field?
I just want to tell the user, that he can change the value of this cell.

I think one possible option can be extend the datagrid and override the drawRowBackgroungd function. Apart from this can i use some custom item renderer or some property similar to label function of a series, there it used to return label here we need a style.

View 3 RepliesI have a Flex DataGrid where one individual cell needs to be rendered in a different way from others. Specifically, for one row of the grid, one of its cells should be hidden.
The DataGridColumn is set out like this in my .mxml file:

but that doesn't work - in fact it messes up the display in a rather entertaining fashion (one of the other cells in the row gets an extra checkbox.. I suspect it may be possible by using a custom ItemRenderer class but that seems like a lot of code overhead for a fairly simple case.

I'm trying to extend the text input that comes in flex to support an icon, just like mac os x search text input has a grey circle aligned to the right, the text input has a addChild method, but it didn't work for me.
View 2 Repliesthe last of many problems, is that at the very end of the test, you're shown your score, and you have the option to type your name in a text box and click "save". Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:

I've been trying to build a user interface that would allow someone to change the content of a dynamic field (loaded from a text file) using a rich text editor. However the editor inserts inline css style tags like <span style="text-decoration: underline;"> which Flash aparently can't understand. View 1 RepliesI've got a project that currently uses classic dynamic text fields that pull in information from an XML file. The text contains a 'keyword' that's referenced in the XML, that can be situated anywhere in the complete sentence. This keyword needs to be a different colour and font size... but as I said, it can appear anywhere.
Currently this works by getting the keyword from the XML, finding its length, finding the index of where it starts, splicing the main string, and then setting TextFormat to the number of chars in keyword, which changes the font size and colour for just that keyword in the sentence.
This works great for the classic dynamic text boxes. It doesn't however work with TLF text, it just applies the new format to the entire text field. I don't have any experience with TLF text as I've just upgraded to CS5 and now need to make this work in Hebrew.The code snippet for the keyword colour change looks like this:Where screen01Norm & screen01Key are things pulled from XML & screen_01.txt_box_combined is the text field.

i have an one input text box, first i type text into it and press space bar at this it will become empty and ready to accept next input from starting position, i make the text box empty by
textbox.text = "";
but the cursor not set to initial position in text box it consider "" as "space" and cursor will display after one space only, i need that cursor again move to starting position..
im trying to create a conversion utility that uses number input via calculator style buttons to generate conversion for the following distances:
-Miles to/from KM
-cm to/from mm
-binary to/from decimal
Now i was thinking of possibly having the options contained within an drop down and an input text field where the numbers are entered via the calculator buttons. The only thing im struggling with is how to perform the actual calculations on the different formats. Has anyone had to do anything similar in the past? Ive only found currency conversion examples and not sure how to apply that to these conversions.

This code corresponds to a quiz question where the correct answer is either blue or green. I get the #1009 error if I input "blue". The answer "green" seems to work ok. What's wrong with my code? Is there a better way to make is so more than one answer works? Something like "blue" or "green" or "otheranswer", etc..?
How do I load a CSS stylesheet to format XML text that is loaded into the swf using AS3? The goal is to assign hyperlinks to a list of text. The only way I can find to do that is CSS formatted XML. However, there is very, very little information on how to load and apply CSS to XML text using AS3.
