I have an html page with a flash object that provides video chat using stratus.I want to enable file sharing from a different UI on the same html page.I want to use the same stratus connection to send the file.Is it possible to create a small flash object that will present a browse button and let the user choose a file and then pass the FileReference or file details to the stratus object to send it?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to use the load method of FileReference object to load the data and use it to display a thumbnail of the selected image.However, after calling fr.load(), fr.data remains null.I'm using Flex Builder 3.0.2 on Windows 7 with Flex SDK 3.4 and Flash Player 10 Debug. If I evaluate fr.load() in Eclipse's watch variables list, I get an error reading "No such variable: load."
View 4 RepliesWe have an issue were the server session associated with a Flex client times out when the browse file dialog is open for a time longer then the configured session timeout. It seems that on some players, the playback is stopped when browse or download on a FileReference is executing. This also causes remote calls to be blocked and hence our manual keep-alive messages are not sent to the server, resulting in a session timeout. I searched for some info on this in the docs and found a notice of it, but it does not explicitly list the players it does (not) work. Would anyone know were I could find a complete list?

I'm using Filereference.save() to save a XML file. It's working fine with default filename.But is there a way to force a file extension on the saved file? I'm using "untitled.xml" as the default filename, but if the user changes it to say "myfile", it gets saved as "myfile", rather than "myfile.xml".
View 1 RepliesPossible Duplicate: losing extension when use FileReference download I'm having an issue that looks common when using the FileReference class in FP10 when saving a file. The whole thing works fine as long as I don't change the default filename. If I do, then I loose the extension of the file... which is annoying >_< I haven't found any "acceptable" workaround, but the posts I've seen are from a couple of months already. So I'm inquiring hoping that something's been done regarding this issue since then =)

The AS is based largely on the Adobe examples here: Adobe Help.Its all working fine across various platforms except that filenames which include spaces never make it to the server - turns out thats about 10% of the images folk are attempting to upload.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to retrieve the ByteArray from a file selected using the FileReference class so that I can pass this to a Web Service call that I am making to Sharepoint.Is there any way I can do this using Flash Player 9 without having to upload to a remote server first and then downloading the file to extract the ByteArray?
This is assuming you can't use Adobe Flash Player 10 and the data property from the FileReference class.

Since I've never done this and the google results are quite random, I ask here: Is it possible to display Flash movies inside a Flex application and interact with them?
The scenario is as follows:
I'm developing a new application in flex Another, already completed application is given to me as SWF (or perhaps SWC, don't know any details yet) I have to insert this second application inside in my Flex application, which should be no problem afair I have to interact with this application: send and retrieve data. Don't know any further details here, too.
Will this be possible? Or is Flex only capable of displaying the SWF without the possibility to interact with it? I hope you can understand, what I want (have to...) do.
I have a TabNavigator, and each tab is a Module. One of the modules is labelled Units and the full code of the module is posted in this post. There are several problems:
1) Forms are not populated with data from the datagrid selection.
2) Selecting a row and clicking delete gives the very-common error: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
A trace on the valueObject unit within the selectionChangeHandler function gives NULL. Why? Note: In other modules (other tabs of the TabNavigator), I have DropDownLists populated with units. This means that the valueObject Unit is defined in the other modules. However, valueObjects should be private to modules, and not shared.

I have a datagrid which is editable and I need to send that back to the database via a CFC for insertion into the database after all the editing is complete. Dumping the array collection to cfdump tells me that I have an array with items and a structure but i cannot understand how to "loop" through each and insert into the DB.There seems to be very little written which actually works! I am trying to access a .Net service which requires an authentication header. If WebService is used it works fine. But when it is accessed using HTTPService it throws error. The project is already done by somebody else using HTTPService. Now changing to webService requires some time since there needs to be modification in a lot of files.

I have a parent w/ a popup child. When parent loads, I have to call a function within the popup without showing the popup (thus, I load "pupLove" but don't include it in layout)....I then pass this data to the parent. When the user manually clicks another button to open the popup, the same function is called & data passed to the parent. However, I am not able to pass dg.length to the parent. I believe the root problem is that I am loading "pupLove" & thus the parents are getting confused.....I'm guessing if I get rid of "pupLove" I can pass the data correctly but will need to call the child's function at creationComplete of the parent....how do I do that?Here's my parent:

I'm using FileReference to retrieve an exported CSV file from the server. The fileReference.download(url, "myFilename.csv") method call seems to be working and I can download the file.
The only problem with this is that I can't seem to be able to set the file filter. In my save dialog, the file type filter is always *.*, which is really bad. View 1 RepliesI have a FileReference that is being uploaded. But before upload, I call the compress() method on the ByteArray of the FileReference i.e. fileReference.data.compress().
But I observe that the uploaded file is the raw file and not the compressed file.
Is this a Flex bug or expected behavior? The data field in the FileReference is read-only. Does that come into play?

I'm deploying a small application with Adobe Air. My application will do batch upload from filepath which stored in a text file. For example, in a text file name "list.txt", there is a string "C:myfilesIMG_0001.JPG". Now I want to upload this image file, keep tracking of upload progress :-< I want to use FileReference to get the upload progress, but I don't know how to import from file's path. I also wonder how to use FileReference to upload this file without prompting a dialog for user to select file.

I need user download JPEG file from my app, however, when user change the file name the saved file will be downloaded without extension.
For Example: I am using FileReference.download() and set the default filename as "demoPic.jpg" and user's windows system setting control file extension not being shown. So when the dialog opens a download window, only "demoPic" shown as the filename. If user saved file without changing filename, the saved file will be OK. But if user change file name, the download file will be saved without extension. is it possible to add file extension to filename when user forget it by flex code?
