ActionScript 2.0 :: FileReference Class - Pass Images To Php/imagick For Processing And Then Back To Flash As JPG?

I'm using the FileReference Class under AS2 to pass images to php/imagick for processing and then back to Flash as JPG. The AS is based largely on the Adobe examples here: Adobe Help.Its all working fine across various platforms except that filenames which include spaces never make it to the server - turns out thats about 10% of the images folk are attempting to upload.
I'm trying to use the FileReference class to upload images to a server and use Java to save the file on that end, but Java doesn't seem to be able to pick up any of the information that is being sent by Flash. Has anyone run into any problems like this with Java before? (p.s. we are using the struts)
Is there any way to send data back to flash after using a FileReference upload? Basically I'm uploading an image and I want my PHP script to return some information back to flash after the upload.

I have an html page with a flash object that provides video chat using stratus.I want to enable file sharing from a different UI on the same html page.I want to use the same stratus connection to send the file.Is it possible to create a small flash object that will present a browse button and let the user choose a file and then pass the FileReference or file details to the stratus object to send it?
I am asking this question as a complete Flash novice, so please do point out if I'm doing anything wrong here (I suspect I am). The XML file is formatted like this:[code]The traces are all for debug purposes.If I place this code into the actions panel of the first frame of the flash document (without the thisObj:TriviaGame = this part), everything works fine and I get correct traces.If I place this code within TriviaGame.as, all of the traces print 'undefined', but it claims to have opened the file correctly.I've found a lot of XML tutorials on this site, but none of them seem to deal with processing XML from within a class file--they all put the code directly on the frame.

I am trying to retrieve the ByteArray from a file selected using the FileReference class so that I can pass this to a Web Service call that I am making to Sharepoint.Is there any way I can do this using Flash Player 9 without having to upload to a remote server first and then downloading the file to extract the ByteArray?
This is assuming you can't use Adobe Flash Player 10 and the data property from the FileReference class.
We're writing a flash application that can download a MP3 file, convert it to a Sound object, get the raw data and make some processing (like adding sounds, change octaves). After the processing, we want to send the data back to the server in chunks, so the server will be able to glue the data together and recover the new generated file. The problem is: if we send to the server "wav" pieces of sound, we are able to glue them together without any problem in the generated file. However, if we convert each wav piece to a mp3 file (so we can send a smaller file to the server) and join the mp3 files at the server, the result is a sound with some problems at the merge point.
This is how we load the mp3 file from the server:

i am fading images into view using tweens, however the images flicker during the tween when i play them back in the flash player. Does anyone have any thoughts, advise, work-arounds?? Cheers
Essentially, can one swf on a page pass info to another swf on the same page (ie swf1 --> jscript --> swf[2,3,4] or swf1--> swf[2,3,4]??)
Given a web-page of somewhat standard design (menu options and a content area) where the menu options are individual swf is there a mechanism for letting the parent client know that a particular swf AS3 has received input?
Been puzzling this for a while. No F1 has turned up anything nor have general or forum searches. Didn't come across any output PARAMs (ala MS-SQL T-SQL). Did I miss them? NavigatetoURL() seemed possible but that either opened a new window (default) or using "_parent" just wiped out the current window contents completely. Using _parent with <framesets> pretty much resulted in the same wipeout.
So, there are a wealth of Flex articles online about how to handle a .NET WebMethod that returns a DataSet or DataTable. Here is an example: Handling web service results that contain .NET DataSets or DataTables So, I know how to use result.Tables.<tablename>.Rows and the like. But what I cannot seem to figure out or find online is how to go the other direction - a method to pass objects or tables back to the .NET Webservice from Flex, without stooping to passing XML as a string, or making huge web service methods that have one parameter for each property/column of the object being stored. Surely others, smarter than I, have tackled this issue.
I am using ASP.NET 2.0 Typed DataSets, and it would be really nice if I could just pass one object or array of objects from Flex to the web service, populate my Typed DataTable, and do an Update() through the corresponding typed TableAdapter. I have a class (ImageLoader) that extends Sprite container and loads an external image to its instance. When i instantiate an object of this class from another (Main) class i want to have the dimensions (width, height) of the loaded image being known to this (Main) class. It seems that is difficult for me as the dimensions are known after the image compete loaded. But i don't know how to pass this information from completeHandler event handler to the Main class.

I am adding some movieclips dynamically to stage. If we click on the movieclips, they goto and stop at frame 2. The Click Event for the Movieclip is defined in the base class
I got a dwg file converted into swf file. Now I want this swf file to embed in html page. No issue with that. The tricky part for me is to let the user select the entites of the file such as line/circle as one might select in autocad. After entity selection the swf file (by any means) pass the selected entity information back to the html page ( to the javascript function).

Let me start by saying I have no intention of using php and I can't wait until flash cs5 comes out with its new read/write capabilities want to load and save XML files (stored on my local hard-drive) in AS3.I am using the FileReference class.Firstly I have noticed that when using FileReference.save if you replace an existing file instead of writing over the file data is appended to the end of the file. Can I make it so the file is overwritten (as it should be) or make it impossible for the user to save in such a situation.Secondly I want to load in text from an external file using FileReference.load I know that somehow you use FileReference.browse first to get it to work but I want to know exactly how to do it.I have looked for a tutorial about loading text in this manner and have not found one.
I want to extend the FileReference class of Flex to contain a custom property. I want to do this because AS3 doesn't let me pass arguments to functions through event listeners, which makes me feel sad, so I need this property to exist on the event target, so I can access it.I also want to be able to cast extant FileReference objects to this class without any fuss. I have:var fr:SmxFR = e.target as SmxFR and I want that to work; right now it just returns null.A blank, newly instantiated SmxFR object has the extended property in place, but all of its inherited properties and objects return Error: Error #2037: Functions called in incorrect sequence, or earlier call was unsuccessful.[code]I get living handle property from that, and all other (that is, inherited) properties throw Error #2037.So, maybe what I want to do is going to require overriding FileReferenceList? If the original objects must be instantiated to SxmFR, that's what I'll have to do, since I'm using FRL to allow the user to select multiple files at once. Are you guys sure there is no way to fast from a FileReference to my class?
When I upload a file using a Flex application,what is the difference between complete and uploadcompletedata events? In which cases one of them will be dispatched and the other one won't?
I am really pulling my hair out with this one. Flash game, container swf loads a img using the loader class. The image is the map which will be used on the levels. The problem im having is that I originaly had each level load the map image, convert to a bitmap, and us it to create x and y's for colision detection.
the problem was that the game was loading and sometimes the map image hadent loaded. It also ment that each level was loading the same image and if the above happened on the 3rd, 4th level it was very annoying. So I need a way to load the image in the parent, but have it available to the child, however it must be available as at bitmap to work.
I am trying to use the load method of FileReference object to load the data and use it to display a thumbnail of the selected image.However, after calling fr.load(), fr.data remains null.I'm using Flex Builder 3.0.2 on Windows 7 with Flex SDK 3.4 and Flash Player 10 Debug. If I evaluate fr.load() in Eclipse's watch variables list, I get an error reading "No such variable: load."
