How can I refresh view after a certain event? I have a view which contains multiple groups. I want to show or hide some groups. onCreationComplete() or initialize() method works only at the beginning of the view creation.
I have a PresentationModel AS class that holds all the values used in SomeView.mxml. The entire class for the model is bindable, and the model property in the view is also bindable. However, I am unable to inject the model into the view using the PropertyInjector tag:
- INFO: Data binding will not be able to detect assignments to model MainEventMap.mxml <EventHandlers type="{FlexEvent.INITIALIZE}">[code].....
I have a flex 3 application that creates an Image from a canvas which the user draws on. I use the ImageSnapshot class to create the image
var imageSnap:ImageSnapshot=ImageSnapshot.captureImage(myCanvas); var imageByteArray:ByteArray=imageSnap.data as ByteArray;
I want the user to be able to print or save the image. I can use the following code to print the image but flex does not provide good control over printing across multiple pages
var printJob:FlexPrintJob=new FlexPrintJob(); printJob.start(); printJob.addObject(myCanvas, FlexPrintJobScaleType.SHOW_ALL);
I would like to display the image in a browser window so that the user could print it using the built in browser functionality or right click on the image and save it. Can this be done without requesting server side code to do it?
I'm currently using RobotLegs with the Presentation Model pattern to develop a Flex 4 project. I understand that all business logic related to a View resides in the Presentation Model associated with that view, however, I am confused when it comes to View specific logic.For example, I have an indicator that needs to be positioned relatively to list items depending on which list item is selected. Is it acceptable in the Presentation pattern to put the logic that will position the indicator in the View and simply have that logic run in reaction to a selectedIndex property changing in the presentation model?The reason I am considering this is that since the Presentation Model does not have a reference to the view it is difficult to come up with an ideal solution for manipulating view components.
Is there a way to view the AS 3 code that Flash CS3 is creating? To be a little bit clearer about what I'm asking let me make the parallel with Dreamweaver. If you need to create an HTML table in Dreamweaver you can click the table icon at the top, configure your table, and then you can see in the code window the

etc. that has been created dynamically by the software.I know its not a straight forward feature built into Flash or I would have found it but I was wondering if there is some surreptitious way of extracting the code.
I have one .mxml file (the Application) with a ViewStack (with 4 views) and a ControlBard, obviously I can change the views with it, but what I want to do is: in view #1 I have an image which I want to convert to a "hyperlink", so when I click it I go to View #2, is this doable? Also I would like to pass somehow some data (like a String) to that View #2 (lets say the it's a user avatar I click so I want to go to the second view which will show me his profile, that's why I need his name/id).
My problem is that when I try to pass an object from the navigator.pushView(view, dataobject), I can't figure out how to access the dataobject from actionscript. I can access {dataobject.property} from MXML easily, but I want to set a variable in the new view to the passed dataobjects property.
I had an issue with my index.html testing on IE and the preloader just stalls on "loading 0%". he told me that locally the progress event doesn't have time to load and to try uploading it to your server and see if it works. It worked just fine. Rah Rah Kglad.
So today I'm fine tuning the swf/ fla to clean it up. Reduced some picture sizes and deleted unused files and reduced the swf from 4000 KB to 350 KB Rah Rah Gene. replaced the swf in Dreamweaver and re-uploaded with Filezilla. Rah ah Filezilla.
Everything working great and my preload went from 23 seconds to less than 3. So I'm real happy except for one small issue. Firefox and IE both do this. If I hit the refresh button, it stalls on "loading 0%" once again just like it did locally.
If I hit the refresh several times it WILL refresh randomly....2 times refresh......10 times refresh etc.

Spoke to my hosting company who said everything seems fine on the server. BTW he said Chrome did NOT have this issue Rah Rah Chrome.
I am using a Tab Navigator component in which there are three canvas components. When I click one of the canvas (or tab), a Pie Chart is displayed. Actually what happens is that on-click 1. the canvas sends an HTTPService whose url is set to a php file 2. That php file actually gets information from a database. Based on that information an xml file is created 3. Fusion Chart uses that xml file to display a pie chart
The database is being updated after some time. Is there any way the Pie Chart may get updated after every 3 minutes to reflect the modifications in the database? or Can I send the particular HTTPService again and again after every 3 minutes 'in background'? or Is there any good way to update the information in a particular canvas (or tab) of Tab Navigator?
I'm about to have to write a web page/app that will serve the agenda for circa 100 people on a page. One line per person, one column per day with 3 clickable zones in each cell. In HTML, the page is way complex for the browser to load quick and there is no possibility to click on a border between 2 cells to for example split an event that spreads among several cells. So I search an not too overkilling technology to render this kind of view. I begun with a PHP generated HTML page but the number of elements in the page make the mouse move jerky.
Moving to JAVA would give me better performances regarding the reuse of the generator of the view but it will still be an HTML page. So, here is my question: do you think that going forward with JAVA and its graphical capability is the simple solution or is Flash a better option for this part of a Web App? I'm afraid of the code I'll have to write in JAVA to handle the GUI presentation as well as the events generated by the 1000's cells plus borders of the page. In Flash, the graphical part seems simpler even if the actions handling is still huge.
I am wondering how to make a 360º view bubble, like they use for Google Street View, but have no idea how to go at accomplishing this task... i have the string of photos that i attached in photoshop(so that if you connected the left to the right it would be a full 360º view).
I am using a combobox to list the contents of a folder. With a button click I use that combobox.selectedItem to delete that folder. After I delete the data is still in the combobox. How do I go about refreshing that combobox?
I am using a datagrid. It has itemEditor components, combo boxes, etc. as aprt of columns.datagrid.invalidateList() method works to reload the datagrid with new dataProvider data.But, for me it is appending to the old data and new data gets added below the older data. I am not able to fix this reload of datagrid.
I am a Java developer who tries Flex.I have a list component in Flex filled by objects got from Java (by binding dataprovider).I have put drag-drop support on list.Everything is good.But I wanted to have a reset function to reinitialize list, namely get back drag-dropped elements to the list.I tried several thing on event handler of reset button but could not reinitialise the list data. For example:
public function resetList():void { trace("reset") listsrc.dataProvider = srv.getTerritories.lastResult }
"reset" is debugged but there is no change on list.
I am writing a Flex application to receive xml from an httpservice. That works because I can populate a datagrid with the information. The xml sends image pathnames. A combobox sends a new HttpService call onChange. This repopulates the datagrid and puts new images in the folder that flex is accessing. I want to dynamically change the image without changing the pathname of the image. <mx:Canvas id="borderCanvas"><mx:Canvas id="dropCanvas"> <mx:Tile id="adTile"><mx:Image></mx:Image> </mx:Tile></mx:Canvas></mx:Canvas>
This is my component. I assign my Image sources using this code: var i:Number = 0; while ( i <= dg_conads.rowCount){ var img:Image = new Image(); img.source = null; img.source = imageSource+i+".jpg"; adTile.addChild(img); i++; }
My biggest problem is that the images are not refreshing. I get the same image even though I've prevented caching from the HTML wrapper and the ASP.Net website. The image automatically loads in the folder and refreshes in the folder but I can't get the image to refresh in the application. I've tried removeAllChildren(); delete(adTile.getChildAt(0)); And neither worked.
I've got a Flex 3 website. I set-up adBrite in an iFrame to serve ads, and it works fine. I've got 2 ad zones in 2 iFrames. My problem is that as Flex has a "pageless" architecture, I only get credit for one hit even if the user clicks every button on the site. In short, I get one pageview instead of several. adBrite said that if I can figure out a way to refresh the ads when the user selects a new item in my navigation menu, they're cool with it. They suggested just refreshing the whole app.
My datagrid is filled with data from an Oracle database. The datagrid refreshes after 1 min. After that, I lose the selected item. I want to avoid that. Consider that it's quite possible that there is new data after refresh, so the selected index may no longer appear in the datagrid after a refresh.
I have designed quiz application in flex4. At end i want to reload my application(that is refreshing browser) how can i do this in flex4? at end i will show score in alert, after that i want to reload the current application.
There is a Flex app with 7 main views. And there is a memory issue when navigating between views.All these views were in a ViewStack, but due to some involving 3D objects I assumed it was too much to have it all in the display list. I'm now clearing all children from the stack and adding/removing them when needed. This gave a small performance increase, but still becomes unresponsive with use. The strange thing is, with this and the original method, the CPU climbs with use but eventually levels out somewhere. Now I'm creating new instances of each screen when they are navigated to and setting the previous variable to null. Now it looks like CPU is spiking when the view is created, but leveling out to something much much lower than it was. This felt like progress, but now the available memory keeps climbing where it wasn't before....
My understanding was calling remove child or remove all children would mark the object for deletion when the garbage collector next ran. I can't see any other references to the instance. My code is along the lines of [code]I have a function for each button to add a new instance like the above.The only thing I can see and feel silly asking but need confirmation, is each view extends a class called "Screen", this class contains a singleton reference to some core components.[code]Would this trick the garbage collector into thinking it was still needed? General advice on clearing Objects from the memory pool would awesome!!! I've never needed to analyze the Flash Player in such depth.I think it's an error with sound drivers, removing all sound and shes purring like a kitten. Works on my machine fine with windows XP, but not on the touch pad the application is crashing on with windows 7 (unsure of the drivers looking into them now) Now I'm thinking its not the drivers, tried 3 different versions, all with no improvement. I did discover the sound was fading in and out with the TweenLite lib. Doesn't look like there are any memory leaks in TweenLite as it works fine on other machines. Just the use of volumeEasingFunction seems to consume increasing amounts of CPU until it freaks out. It is crappy hardware running windows 7, which doesn't help.
Calling a simple refresh (like with a simple arraycollection as a dataprovider, or with a refresh on the Grouping Collection) does not work. Also re-assigning the arrayCollection to the Hierarchical Data and then assigning this one again to the Datagrid does not work (even with calling invalidateProperties() or validateNow()).
i am working on an aplication using flex,adobe air...i have a datagrid with a XML as my dataprovider...during the execution of program my XML is updated....after XMl is updated and saved my datagrid should also get update..I have used Dataprovidername.refresh() method but it is not working.
I have item renderers in an mx.controls.Tree that I need to refresh on demand.
I have code in the updateDisplayList that fires for only some of the visible nodes no matter what I do. I've tried triggering a change that they should all be listening for; I have tried clearing and resetting the dataProvider and the itemRenderer properties.
The nodes refresh properly when I scroll them into view (e.g. the .data gets set), but I cannot force the ones that already exist to refresh or reset themselves.
[URL]. Our client communicates with a Rails backend to get login details and then logs into an Adobe LCCS server. We have been cruising right along but around noon yesterday we developed a bug that causes the swf to not render until you refresh the page. On subsequent refreshes it pops up right away. The problem happened even when I disabled the code that checks in with the Rails server. How could refreshing make a difference?
I have an issue in handling the F5(Refresh) option in IE8 using FLEX. As i got some code by surfing..which is as follows
public function handleKeyDown(event:KeyboardEvent) :void { display.text = "Key was pressed: " + event.keyCode; }
The main intention of the code is to handle F5(refresh) event. It works fine in Mozilla, GoogleChrome but not in IE8. When i execute the code in IE8 before the event handle by the FLEX the browser is handling the event.
I have an AdvancedDataGrid which Im attemping to update with data from a web service that I poll once very 10 seconds. Im using a HierarchicalData object to provide data to the grid. The update seems to work fine, except that on each update, any nodes that were expanded are collapsed when the grid is refreshed. Stranger still, when I dig down into the bowels of the thing and look at the contents of the HierarchicalCollectionView that backs the grid, I can see that the openNodes property correctly contains the nodes that I opened, but those nodes are not shown as open on the grid...the state seems inconsistent.
I have an ArrayCollection that's acting as the data provider for a tilelist (called favoriteLinksList) I use an itemRenderer called FavoriteItem as the tilelist's itemRenderer. This FavoriteItem looks like this:
When a user clicks on a button, i need to calculate some values, put them on the "myCalculatedValue" and add another BarSeries as a comparison. I'm doing this:
var barSerie:BarSeries = new BarSeries(); barSerie.dataProvider = model.myList;[code].....
But the BarChart does not change at all. Is there some way to refresh the chart after adding the new BarSeries?
