Flex :: Keep A Loaded SWFs Stage Property Localized To That Swf?
May 24, 2010
Does anyone know of a workaround for loading an AS3 swf into an existing AIR/Flex (Flex 3) application and having the loaded SWF retain its own reference to its stage (not the loader's stage)?
I've tried the loadForCompatibility property on SWFLoader, but that isn't giving me the behavior I'm wanting. The loaded swf still has the main AIR app's stage set.
I am loading external swfs into a MC on the stage. I noticed they are stacking up and not being removed or replaced. How can Iremove the previous loaded swf?
I'm using buttons to send the playhead to frames in which swfs are then loaded into an otherwise blank movieclip called "stage_target_mc" ...how can I then flush out the previously loaded swf so only a newly loaded swf displays in "stage_target_mc"?For example, after clicking upon the 'about' button the 'about' swf loads...then if the 'concepts' button is clicked the 'concepts' swf loads -- but the previously loaded 'about' swf still plays...I would like to be able to flush the 'about' swf so only 'concepts' is display, in this example.code associated with buttons used to send playhead to frames "concepts" or "about":[code]
I loaded a swf from external. using loader class. But if i check with the width and height of the loader is differes from loader.contentLoaderInfo.width.
From this statement i came to know the loader gets the width of all hidden objects, which are already outside of the stage area. But now I need to increase the size of the stage contents only..
I am completely new to the whole FlashDevelop/Flash/etc toolchain, but wanted to do some experimenting. I installed FlashDevelop and Flex SDK on my laptop, and thinks worked out just fine, except for one thing: the compiler messages are localized! Messages like "gebruik van een niet-gedefinieerde eigenschap" (Dutch.. sort of) are limiting my productivity. I don't recognize them because they look nothing like what I'm used to in any other programming environment, as a proper sentence they make even less sense than English error messages, and I certainly can't google them properly. Now I've already seen there are a couple of xml files and java/mxmlc/fcsh/etc configs I can tweak, but nothing so far helped.
By default, Flex uses signed .swz files to hold the Flex Framework classes. I noticed that under Adobe Flash Builder 4 > sdks > [version] > frameworks > locale > [locale] there are multiple languages supported.en_USen_GBzh_CNetc etcThe files in these directories vary in that they contain a "_rb.swc" at the end of each file. Files include datavisualization_rb.swc, spark_rb.swc, framework_rb.swc, etc etc. These are different from the rsls signed framework resources stored as .swz in framework .rsls. Since localized signed versions of the framework don't appear to be available, can I use these locale > [LOCALE] .swc versions instead as RUNTIME SHARED RESOURCES?
I DON'T want to compile different versions of my app for each locale, rather want to link the localized framework resource libraries at runtime. It would be nice to have the contents of the sdks > [VERSION] > frameworks > locale directory copied into my bin-debug/bin-release folder when I build my app.Is this possible? How would I set this up in Flash Builder 4?My assumption (I know about assumptions) is that there is a way to set up the Flex Build Path or supply compiler options that would cause all of the locales stored in the locales > [LOCALE] folder to be included into the bin-debug/bin-release of the project.
According to the Adobe asdocs, Flex framework files are supposed to be able to be loaded at runtime. These localized framework files, the ones that exist at (on windows) C:Program Files (x86)AdobeAdobe Flash Builder 4.5sdks4.5.0frameworkslocale, are responsible for items such as button text on Alert Dialogs, and a host of other controls. My expectation is that once these framework files are loaded I would see these resources available in my Flex app.
I've set up my project as follows:
MyProject -src -Flex4.5 -Referenced Libraries
[code]....
Now the asdocs state that in order to do this, you have to set the compiler settings to read
which I have done.My Build Path Libraries for Flex 4.5 - C:Program Files (x86)AdobeAdobe Flash Builder 4.5sdks4.5.0 are set to be Runtime Shared library (of note, the {locale} subfolder says "Merged into code")
But when I change the language in the browser, I'm not seeing any of the framework resources. Also, when I build my project, I don't see any indication of the locale-oriented resource files in the bin-release. Since we only deploy the contents of the bin-release folder (and not the entire project), how is this supposed to work?I am also seeing .swz files in my bin-release (and I know these arent the localized framework resources).
Does anyone have any experience with Runtime Framework Localization?? What am I doing wrong? My expectation is that once I build my project (with the framework resources externalized) that the app would be able to load those resources, but this isn't happening and I am not interested in compiling a different version of my app for all of the locales I support.
i have a UILoader that loads an image from an xml list when you click its thumbnail ( in its thumbnails mc on mainstage aswell) thing is, i have another UILoader on the layer above that loads in a swf ( a slideshow that fades in and out the pictures when they change to the next, with all the coding on frame 1, frame 2 only has a stop and some code for when the mouse is idle for 5 secs it goes back to frame 1) so when you go to "portraits" it takes you to frame "x" where the slideshow ( loaded external swf ) starts playing automaticly right, if i click any thumbnail the slideshow goes to frame 2 ( wich is perfect and the mouse idle thing i wanted works great ) the ONLY THING IS
after the slideshow runs by default for the first time ( i enter the category portraits ) and i click any thumbnail ( moving slideshow swf to frame 2 enabling mouse idle event ) and the mouse is idle ( so it does the event and starts playing the slideshow again ( goes back to frame 1 ) ) I CANT MAKE THE UILOADER OF THE THUMBS IMAGE TO DISSAPPEAR!
When my language is of Asian origin (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc) the title appears correctly on the Alert, but the message does not. I'm seeing the correct localization values EVERYWHERE ELSE in my application except the Alert popup and in one other instance on a mx:Checkbox control.
I've checked my app and the strings are being returned from the resourceManager correctly but just aren't rendering to the screen. Does anyone have any insight as to what might be causing this behavior?
I am creating a Flex application with a component that displays various dynamically loaded SWFs, one at a time (kind of like a kiosk). These loaded SWFs are created in Flash IDE, not Flex. They will not be created by us (we will provide a .fla template but that's it), so I am loading them into a separate SecurityDomain.
My Questions:
I want the application to be able to call methods inside the loaded SWF. To do this, would I just call Security.allowDomain("domain original app was loaded from") in the startup process for the loaded SWF? I want the loaded SWF to be able to throw events that are caught by the application. Can I accomplish this through the SWFLoader.swfBridge property? I am defining an interface for the methods inside the loaded SWF. But, I don't want to leave the implementation up to the customer. Instead, I want to provide another SWF that contains the interface implementation and have it be a constraint that the customer includes it in their SWF. I am not very familiar with the Flash authoring environment, how would it work so that the interface implementation SWF exposes its methods in such a way to be accessible to Flex? Is there a way to sign the SWF so that the Flex application knows that it is dealing with the original, not a spoof? How would the Flex code pass in arguments, since it is across SecurityDomain boundary -- is there marshalling involved (say if I want to pass in a Dictionary or some kind of object graph)? The Flex application may load hundreds of these smaller other SWFs during its lifetime. How do I make sure it doesn't keep using up more memory? I plan on using SWFLoader.unloadAndStop() and clearing all references in the Flex object that refers to it. Is this enough? Will the AppDomain for the loaded SWF be torn down automatically so that the class definitions are no longer in memory?
I have a main fla file which loads an external swf into an empty movieclip on the main timeline which works fine but I want a button in the external swf to load another external swf into another empty movie clip on the main timeline.eg. start.swf loads UKEIAMap.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) MapLoader_mc then a button havant_b within UKEIAMap.swf needs to load HavantProjectSheet.swf into (empty movie clip within start.swf) ProjectSheetLoader_mc without unloading UKEIAMap.swf
Flash - 8 : Above is an example of what I would like to do/have done. I've gotten as far as loading the "loaded.swf" into the "start.swf" but my problem is I'd love to use that little loading action I made earlier without copying and pasting into the new movie the same actions for a different link. So, how do I load "loaded2.swf" into "loaded.swf" via the link in "loaded.swf"?
I have a "photo" gallery that loads numerous SWFs through xml, one by one on click. All works fine. All my SWF work fine stand alone. But when I load them into the player, many swf dont work properly.in example, I have textinput textfields in many of the swfs, which work fine on their own but not when loaded into the player. Then I have a word search game that works fine when alone, not when in player. I can see there is something as my mouse cursor changes into the "button finger", but nothing visual.
All drag and drop assigments work fine etc. I have no idea whats up. I have receantly switched to as3 and in as2 there was _lockroot declaration that solved similar problems, but now in as3 (where it supposedly should be automatic) it doesnt work. As it seems that it cannot recognise it own stage value, or selection_focus when loadedinside another swf through xml.Using cs4, as3.
I have a game which I'd like to take to an exhibition for people to test on the stand, but my high score system is on the server at the office and there is no internet connection at the exhibition hall. I'm wondering what the best method of having the high scores would be.. would I need to install PHP MySQL onto my laptop and run the high scores locally, or is there another method I could adopt that won't take too long to set up... XML for example..
I have an swfLoader that loads a flex swf. When the flex swf is loaded it takes up the entire stage, this does not happen with a swf of the same dimensions created in flash professional.
Usually when I want to create multiples instances of a same movieclip (that's already in the main .fla library) I use new mcClassName()but what if the clip is external, for example Ball.fla, Ball.as and Ball.swf? I've loaded Ball.swf into the main .fla and I don't know what to do now
Setting the text property of a flex DateField makes the selectedDate property of that DateField go to null.I need to set the text property so that I can use a particular format (DD-MMM-YYYY).
Lately i discovered MATE (for Flex development) and was wondering: how do i bind a property in a view (actually a navigatorcontent component) to another property in a class so that they stay in synchronization (meaning that whenever the property in the class changes the property in the view also changes).
So if we have a view called Target.mxml and a property targertProp how do we bind it to the class called SourceClass with property SourceProp?
I've made a simple portfolio web site which loads a swf file containing the navigation at the top and then the navigation loads individual swf files containing full page images. The problem is the full page images are distorting very slightly when they are loaded in. I've attached two images, the first image (picture2.png) is how looks when I just open the image's swf file, and the second image (picture3.png) is how it looks after its loaded in by the navigation.
how to unload the swfs in as3 once you click a button to load a new one.
My file works great, with the exception of the videos playing over each other. slight bummer.
I have five buttons that each pull an external swf that is controlled by an xml file. If there were not sound it would not be an issue, but the sound overlaps if you click to the next link before the first video finishes playing.
I uploaded all the files here, including two test flv files. the files were too big to upload to the kirupa forum.
I m loading 2 .swf in one flash file and want to control one with another. The first contain small animation and other has play and stop button. Now I want to control that animation with these 2 button. Files details: test1.swf: It has the animation test2.swf: It has the 2 buttons test3.swf: It is the main file, in which I m loading the 2 files i.e. test1.swf and test2.swf
This may seem a stupid question but I just started learning AS3, Is it possible to keep my menu on top of externally loaded swfs? My menu is sitting on the main timeline as movieclip and the externally loaded swf overlap my main timeline completely completely covering my menu.[code]....
I recently changed the setup of my project from only having one SWF, to loading in my main SWF through a preloader. I'm facing a problem of scope. My old code for targeting things no longer works. This is it.
ActionScript Code: if (this.parent.contains(Credits)) { Credits.gotoAndPlay(120); CreditsText1.gotoAndPlay(120); }
What would I change this code to in order to target the exact same spot in my loaded SWF? I should add that all my code is in an external .as file, which is set as the DocumentClass for the loaded SWF. I've tried both "this.parent.parent.contains" and "this.contains" Neither worked.
Is it possible to keep my menu on top of externally loaded swfs? I believe it should be but I just cannot figure out how to do it. I have searched around and I believe I should use something like addChildAt but when I try to use it in the main menu actionscript my external swfs do not load anymore.. My menu is sitting on the main timeline as movieclip and the externally loaded swf overlap my main timeline completely completely covering my menu...
What I'm trying to do is create buttons in one swf that load another swf and also give instructions to begin playing from a certain frame in that swf. The target swf has a preloader on frame 1 and then a movie clip that contains a video in frame 2. Depending on which button the user presses the video will be cued up ready to play at different frames. think it may need an if statement ie if x=34 then goto frame 34, but I can't seem to pass the variables to the loaded swf.In the zip file is an example of what I'm trying to do.
Can we put [Bindable] on functions/methods? I know that bindable is used to change the value of the source property to destination property. But not sure if we can use that for methods. why we cannot put/ if we can then what will be the outcome?
If I load an SWF file, is it possible for the pre-loader to access and change a string variable inside the loaded swf? Is there any special way to do this or would it be a simple case of loadedMC.variable = "new value"
I am trying to make transitions between loaded swfs. Below is my code. I know I need to add to one of the functions to make it play the "out" transition before the new swf is loaded. Each swf has a timeline with a stop frame and a frame labeled "out". The below script allows me to press buttons and load the coresponding swf to the stage.
