I have a component mxml file in which i have a view stack, on click of a button i navigate to the first child, now i need to navigate to the second child during onclick of a button present in the second child. All the childs are component files included within the view stack. How could this be done, Sample code is present below,
[code]...
Now in my offering.mxml file if i try to access navigationViewStack i am getting an error stating 'Access of undefined property navigationViewStack.
I have a picture on the stage that has multiple items that have hotspots/links over them that should open a child swf on top of the background and show details about the items. then have a button in the child swf itself that removes the child from over the background so the user can click on another item etc.I found this code in someone's post and I am trying to modify it so that works for multiple swf files...it currently works for a single swf.I wan to pass the name of the button in front of the .swf in the URLRequest to have the same name as the instance name of the referring button. But I can't figure it out. Here is the code I am using on the stage
I'm adding various movieclips to the stage with the following code:var invis_obj = new invisible_li_mc();addChild(invis_obj);However, when I try to access the movieclip such asinvis_obj.buttonMode = true;I get nothing however, something like invis_obj.alpha=0; works fine..
I have a viewstack with two tabs.In one of them there is a data grid shows a list of notes. The other one is includes a form that can edit notes or crates new note. I want the user to be able to add new note or edit existing note when clicks an item in data grid. I mean when user clicks an item the viewstack must become editor.
In my example below, when I click "Add Content", new stack content is loaded into the ViewStack as expected. But when I then click "Close Content", I'm expecting it to close the newly created content inside the ViewStack and switch to the "defaultContent" content.
Within the main timeline I have a menu, which is a MovieClip. This menu is comprised of about 17 "buttons", each of which point to a different section of the site. When a "button" is clicked (2 examples: menu_bag_button, menu_trashbag_button), the menu will animate, moving left, and 2 library items (bag_container and close_btn) should appear to the right, both within "framecontainer".Then, while the menu is on the left, this specific button must not repeat the menu animation, thus I did an if statement finding which frame it is on, and if it's on the left, it simply clears the framecontainer and loads the content again.
The problem is that when another link is clicked, it needs to do one of two things: if the menu is in the center with no content loaded, it needs to animate the menu to the right, and load the content/close_btn into "framecontainer"; or, if the menu is on the left, it needs to clear "framecontainer" and load the corresponding content.I've tried a lot of things but since all of these buttons are within "menu_mc", the actionscript has to point to the root, THEN to"framecontainer" and everything gets convoluted.Here is my current code. It functions fine, except for the fact that it doesn't clear content, so it continues loading the frames so that one is closed, there is still other content behind it:
I've seen some discussion on how to load a child swf using swfLoader and accessing it's variables but I am wondering if it is possible to do this without adding any code to the child swf.Either accessing public vars or listening for funciton calls would work fine
I understand that the major difference between AS2 and AS3 is that in AS3 you have to put all your script in a separate layer, and unlike AS2 you can't add them to buttons or movie clips themselves on their respective layers.
I'm doing a project for school where I'm required to make a flash portfolio.
I have Five buttons, and right now, two of those buttons goes to a frame to display a picture. However, I've made the other buttons dynamic, and they call other swf files to show an image gallery, a game and another image viewer.
What I have a problem with is when I click the first dynamic button, and the swf if added to the parent movie clip, it does not leave the stage when another dynamic button is clicked.
So what I have is all the SWFs loaded on top of each other.
writing a code that will remove child for each button when ANY other button is clicked.
here is the code I have:
stop(); btn3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick); function buttonClick(event:MouseEvent):void{ gotoAndStop(3);
I have a tabbar whose dataprovider is a viewstack and the viewstack contains a group of vbox containers. I am trying to hide one of the vboxes based on a certain condition but the tabbar still shows the corressponding tab for the hidden vbox. I set the visibilty and includeinlayout of the vbox to false but the tab still exists.
Let's say I have a canvas with a fixed height and a vertical scroll bar. And the canvas has 10 children in a vertical line (like a VBox) whose combined height exceeds the height of the canvas. Based on the scroll bar position, only some of the children will be visible at a time.Is it possible to determine which children are actually visible? Or whether or not a specific child is visible on screen?
I want that the s:VGroup container has the height only of its visible children. In this example there is a free space even the visibility mx:HorizontalList is set to false. Every time I change the visibility of the child element I want that the parent (s:VGroup) will change his height. How to do this in flex?
i am slightly confused about the parent and child relationship. lets assume we have several different instances, what would be difference of adding them all as children of the stage and creating a parent-child hierarchy between them(other than the access path).
I'm having a problem when adding a child to a VBox component. Is it not the same thing?:
List Item:
<mx:Script> <![CDATA[ public function addChildren():void {
[Code]....
I am injecting two properties (question and answer) to the FaqItem component from an auxiliar file (using BabelFX) that depends on the id of the FaqItem, but it is only working when I choose the second option. If I use the first option, I get a child but with the text in question and answer fields is empty. I need to use the first option.
Within a child, I have an XML element with the following structure:[code]I then use a repeater to list each out onto the screen. There's a button I have created that is used to create a position. So, once the user clicks this button, I call the following function:[code]The above function creates a new XML object, puts some default values in, and appends it to the list of project positions. After appending the new information, I made the height of the project larger and then check to make sure the new project height isn't overlapping any other projects... but that information is irrelevant to this post.My problem is this - once i append a new child to the XML variable, it doesn't appear on the screen. Is there a "refresh" or "re-render" option i can do to the repeater in order to make the new child show?[code]Once i make the changes, and use the XMLListCollection as the dataprovider in the repeater, the information no longer loads on the screen.
i have problem with swfLoader in flex, when i close following code in click method i can easly add many swf to main application
<mx:VBox id="content" width="100%" height="100%" ></mx:VBox> public function doIT():void {[code]....
when i close adding those swfs in loop i have the same error, it looks like child apps couldn't access certain objects that were instantiated by another child app, so what can i do?
I have an Movie Clip in Flash that have subobject of button type which has subobject of input text and movie clips. Right after creation core Moveclip all subobject are set to null, when I expect them to be valid objects.
[Code]...
MC_Core_design was created in Flash and exported to Actionscript. I've done this for button_1 class aswell. The code was written using Flex. When I comment out both lines that result in error I get correct view of the core Movie clip with all subobject. How can I set subobject properties right after object creation?
How can I add an MXML component as a child of the main application using ActionScript. It's not possible to instatiate it, is it? Assuming that behind every mxml file stands an actionscrpt3 class, I tried to import it but id didn't show up.
I have a panel with a button in it. Clicking on the button will direct the panel to state "State2" adding another two buttons into the panel. During the state change, I want the panel to resize first and then show the newly added two buttons, so I applied transitions onto the state change.
My question is:
If I put the two buttons within a HBox directly under the addChild tag, it works fine. However, if I create a new component with the same code (HBox with two buttons in it) and then add the new component to the panel (Comp in the code commented), it won't show the resize effect.
However, either I'm declaring my variables at the wrong bit/way or there is another problem, as I have been able to add the child I want to from the display list (sidepoint: is it right to call the display list everything in the library on stage at runtime plus those things you have exported for actionscript usage??!)...but when I want to remove it at the next cuepoint nothing happens. I feel this is a basic principle that is alluding me here.
Code: vid.addEventListener(MetadataEvent.CUE_POINT, cueText); function cueText(e:MetadataEvent): void{
I've a custom component where I do some graphics (e.g draw a line) and dynamically add a subcomponent (e.g a label) to it.
If I base the component off Group (which is recommended as per docs since its a spark component) then when I dynamically add a label the graphics part disappears.
However if I base it off Canvas this doesn't happen.
Why is that the case?
Here is the code.
MyComponent.as public class MyComponent extends Group { public var x1:int;
I have a parent and 2 children. I am trying to pass data from child1 to child2 but keep getting an error message: 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method through a reference with a static type.
In child1 I have the following code:
[Bindable] public var TestVar:String='sometext';
In child2 I am trying to get the value of TestVar and then use it as a value to search a mysql database via php.:
var newTestVar:String = child1.TestVar; if(newTestVar != null){ getResult.token = someService.get_filtered_Paged(newTestVar);
I have a child (an external swf) that I'm adding on frame 2 of my main timeline. It will load, but I have another issue. My timeline navigation is designed as such that the viewer can return to frame 1 after viewing frame 2. I don't want the child to be visible on frame 1 ever. Obviously, I can't simply use removeChild, because I haven't yet added it when frame 1 is reached and so I get a null object reference. I've also tried playing around with the visibility property of the child, but with no luck. I feel like I'm missing an obvious solution here. What should I do?
I have a package that scales a pic up when the pic is moused over. Also in the .fla that references that package, I have code that loads the pics into movie clips on the stage(using XML).
My problem is that when I mouse over the pic it goes behind the other pics that are next to it. The moused over pic needs to appear above the surrounding pics. I know this is an addChildAt / indexing issue. I'm just having trouble working it into my code.
Actually, the package code (PhotoScaler.as) has a line that is supposed to make the moused over mc go above everything else, but it doesn't work when I add a pic to the symbol
I'm converting to AS3 from AS2 and I really love the whole display list concept. I have some movie clips and components that appear and disappear based on some user button clicks. In AS2 I would just turn the visibility of my various display objects on and off, but I'm wondering if there are any memory/performance advantages to adding and removing the display object from the display list to accomplish the same thing.
Everywhere I've looked has instructed me to download plugins and addons because they're "superior." I'm just looking for a simple fade in/fade out when a child is added/deleted (if fadein is all I can get, I'll take it.) Here is a function I'm calling...
I am trying to use addChild to create a child movieclip of one created in another Class. It creates one fine in the testCanvas class but when I want to add a child clip with mctestObject I get nothing.
