May 18, 2009I was wondering how you got .mov and other such files onto your webpage. Do you convert it or can you upload them somewhere and write actionscript to get it?

View 1 RepliesI have a webpage that I have a video linked to play when a user clicks on it - simple enough. With flv (v9 and below) videos, I have no issues serving it up to the user and them viewing it - with a f4v file this is a different animal, nothing happens, the web page player sits there spinning like it is going to do something and never does, like it cannot read or understand the video file.
how to make f4v videos play in a web page? My flv's are working fine, but cannot seem to get the better compressed f4v's to work right. I do not have DW CS4 or I would have tried to see how the code worked there. I created these videos in Premier Pro and exported via the Adobe Encoder in CS4. The video is beautiful for the same size and quality compared to the hazy flv's, so I really want to use the f4v's, I just cannot seem to get it to work.
I have this weird problem when it comes to using flash in dreamweaver, every time I use a flash file & after I test it on a browser Both Firefox & IE), I get this weird border around it everytime I click it & here is a pic to show u what I am talking about...
View 2 RepliesI have a DVD (VOB, IFO files) that I need to upload to my site. I also have to add subtitles in English. I managed to rip the VOB file and add subtitles in Encore, but was only able to save it as SWF file. I can't upload this file to my site nor will you tube accept it. My site is basic html, created in dreamweaver. I have the full Adobe suite, you can see it at [URL]
How should i go about getting this video on my website?
I have some files in my src directory, some are .class files (Java class files) and some are .properties files, when I create the Adobe air native installer these files are not included. Why is that? How can I work around that?
Also it excludes .mxml files, but that's good. I'm sure that's related, how to change what it includes or excludes?
I have created a flash file that allows you to click on a thumbnail image and larger image appears ontop of a tshirt. The same way as a gallery would work. The images and thumbnails are pulled in through xml. However I have a problem, I need the images that appear on the tshirts to be .png files or gif files as the tshirt colour can be changed. At the moment my flash file will only display jpegs! I dont knwo why. The jpegs leave me with a white background, so I need the transparency of a png/gif. My actionscript is:

My users upload a certain kind of text file that sometimeshas references to images stored locally on their hard drive. I needto check this file either on the server or within a flash app tosee if it has these references and then grab those images in aflash app to upload to my server.So I can use FileReference easily enough to have users uploadlocal images. But FileReference requires users to select their files with a dialog box. I can't have that. Myusers wouldn't know where to look and there are typically way toomany files, sometimes with the same name but in differentdirectories.
I can also just use URLLoader with a local URL, I guess I canprobably just use Loader too? That works great. The problem here isI can't communicate with both the server and the local filesystemin the same flash application due to Flash's security sandboxrestrictions. So I can get out of those security restrictions byplacing or editing a trust file in designated locations on variousOSes. I then need to install this trust file which is more invasiveand confusing to users then I want to be...Java's method of accessing local files from a web applet bysimply signing the applet with a certificate and having a dialogbox popup where the users grants access is ideal. Is there anything

View 6 RepliesI was messing around with some old examples, and I ran into an unfinished example where several 30k-100k XML files are loaded and stored as a string into an Array. The code looks basically like:[code]Basically, when I trace the 'this', the order of the files that are loaded is off. Out of about 10 tries, about 3 times the order is perfect. The remaining 7 times, the order is a bit off. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to ensure the files are loaded prior to the next file being loaded? I tried placing a while loop that basically delays the clock for a few milliseconds, and that didn't work either. Besides, that is not really a good solution to arbitrarily waste clock cycles.
View 6 RepliesI installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.
View 4 RepliesI'm working on making a pretty chunky game engine for games I plan on making, but I was wondering if you make external AS files unopenable such as .lib files, so that if I give it to a friend that wants to use it, he/she cannot change my code. Is there anyway to make external AS files unopenable? Also, obfuscation isn't an option for this problem as it only stops the people who hack the finished product, not stopping people who have access to the actual files.

one more question is "where i need to store all these movie files. either in samefolder where the flash file is placed. or make it as a seperate folder and or in the flash file library". and one more thing is "how can i place these 20 files in a order like declaring the dimensions on the screen. do i need to put in a CSS.
I am constructing a Flash animation and I was hoping to build it by scenes. These scenes would be individual SWF movies that I could import into my final Flash file in consequential order and when finished I would have a completed Flash Movie. There would be no interaction beyond Play/and replay. Where can I get information on how to construct this and is this a recomended way to do it?
View 7 RepliesI've tried exporting a MOV file using Flash 8. I've tried converting to a MOV using ffmpegx. Neither have worked.

Basically it mounts a share as a network drive then runs through the share looking for swf files inside office documents.
I made some videos with graphic effects in my video editing software. I suppose it might be easier to make SWF files from dedicated flash software - but I am quite comfortable doing things in video. So anyway, my goal is to be able to play the video on a web page - BUT WITHOUT the controls that go along with flv players such as wimpy. I would be just as happy to use flv if I could figure out how to hide the contols (play, volume etc.). I just want the movie to play - it should just play like an animated gif (but with sound and my option to loop or not).

I'm taking a website i put together, and plopping it on a DVD.
There are 3 parts to it.
One, is the flash .exe, which brings up a small splash page with general info on me. At the bottom there are two links to webpages i made. I would like to keep all the websites files ON the DVD, and not have the end-user need to have an internet connection, although in these times, i guess i could get by that way.
2nd part, is the webpage's main page. The main page contains a flash frame, in which there are six buttons, each with AS(2) looking to a folder on the DVD, to bring up another URL in the same window. Ru:
Code:
on (release) {
getURL("D:/main/1/index.html","_self");
weird thing is, this works when on the hdd, but as soon as i put it on the DVD and try to run it from there, the main page doesn't connect/open the link I specified. I've also tried it:
Code:
getURL("1/index.html","_self");
and that doesn't work either. i'm not if i'm missing something small, but if need be, i can post a chopped down zip or rar with the files needed for someone to take a look at.
i want to integrate my own 3d renderings (avi's) convert to flv and embed into my website.
always used gif anims in the past so dont really have a clue if someone one could give me a rundown of all tools and steps/ procedures with html necessary to acheive this
im not trying to do anything too fancy, just replace the low quality gif anims on my site with some decent quality flash movies
I'm currently developing a full flash site. I've made the dropdown navigation menu with flash also. However, whenever I insert or import it into the webpage .fla, nothing works. When I preview the navigation menu swf file it works perfectly, ie, the mouseover effects, however I lose all actionscript coding when I bring it into my webpage .fla, what am I doing wrong?
View 4 RepliesI've recently uploaded my source files to my host and everything is running fine...except for one of my SWF files and I dont know whats wrong. It works when I run it on dreamweavers preview yet since I've uploaded it, it doesn't work. The file paths correct, the files are in the right folder yet still nothing. The address is doneanddone.co.nz . I already have a SWF that plays sound and that works but the video above the done and done text does not.
View 5 RepliesI have no experience with Adobe Flash because others have done this out of house in the past. (time has come for me to learn - quickly)
I need to simply create "swf" files from a number of videos I have finished in Premiere Pro 5.5.
These videos are 800 x 600 videos that display at "point-of-sale". The spec is swf and not flv.
(I do not need to do anything else in Flash apart from create the video file with the swf extension.)
Just wondering what is the standard in the Industry; does the client get the ActionScript Classes and the .fla file?
View 2 RepliesI came across that website to see some products news, then I find there was a nice flash tool. You know that decompiler can edit swf files to fla files. But this tool which I want to introduce to you can edit swf to swf perfectly, amazing right? Plz check it here:URL...

I have designed a website in flash. I tried all the file resolution size like 1024x768 or 800x600 or even 1000x600. Whatever size it is, the webpage doesnt fit on my monitor. Either it is too small or very big.Also I dont want to see any blank white space. How will I fit it exactly on all monitors?
View 2 RepliesI'm taking a Flash CS4 class at the local community college. Our teacher is making a LOT of assumptions about what we know. Our first assignment is to set up a web site (I've already taken web design I & II, but this is my first exposure to Flash). What I'm looking for is some guidance about the orderly steps to take when setting up a flash web site.I'm thinking I need to go into Photoshop or Fireworks first and design the pages so I can import them.But what about when I get to Flash? Page set-up, size, create layers for each of my pages, import things, where to start adding effects first... I can't decide the most efficient ORDER in which to do things.
