What would be the best way to embed a Flash movie into HTML? I have read that HTML5 lets you use <embed>, but obviously not all browsers will recognize this yet.

how to horizontally center my Flash movie in the web browser window after publishing?
A bit of background: I was able to achieve this using <center></center> tags a few years ago. But I have since upgraded to CS5 and I understand that this old method is now obsolete.
I have found a few threads/forums that address this, but I know nothing about HTML and these threads don't help me because they assume you have more knowledge than I possess. When opening up the index.html file in Dreamweaver I can't find anything that looks vaguely familiar to what is being discussed. I have found some code samples using <div></div> tags but have no idea where to place it.
So I will need it explained to me in a step by step fashion, including which file I need to fix and what program I should use. Code samples will be very welcome if you can tell me exactly where it goes.
I want to make a Flash movie be 100% of the browser window. I know how to do this just usaing the Publish settings. The problem is that I want the stage of the movie to fill the browser without scaling up the actual movieclips and components of the movie.

View 2 RepliesIs there a solution, similar to img data:image/gif;base64..., that allows to embed an swf movie in a HTML page without having to create a new swf file and link it in the src attribute?
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a school project. It contains a main section which has 7 buttons. Each of these buttons is a character which you can zoom in to, see who they are, click and see a small cinematic/animation and proceed to it's respective section. I have a couple of concerns.
1. What is the best way of loading my project? I've been thinking of using the loadMovie and have placeholders, each section with a progress bar. what should I load when?
2. how can I make the flash movie resize in the browser window using actionscript ? so that I have no problems with screen resolution sizes. I use 1280x1024, but I guess there are still people on 800x600(which is lame) Here is an example of the resizing I mean: [URL]
Is there a way to set focus to the embed HTML element using JavaScript? Test case: embedded YouTube videos on a page.
I have no control over the embedded Flash element. So, is there a way to set focus on it by using only JavaScript?
I read somewhere that calling the element.focus() method works only in IE. I need a browser-independent way that works in Chrome/Firefox.
How do I get an html pop-up window by clicking a button on a Flash movie?Flash CS4 and Actionscript 3
View 1 RepliesI can open a new window using window.open() in ExternalInterface.call() but then I want to be able to write contents to the new window. Since, I cannot get the reference of the window back from window.open() call, I am not able to do anything to the window once it is opened.
I do not have any control over the HTML in which my swf is displayed.
Has anyone been in this situation before?
Update: After a few hours of trial and error I found you can get out of this situation by storing your window reference globally and referring to the same global reference whenever you need to access the new window.
I have a flashmovie that measures 950x675 px. If the user have a smaller webbrowser window than my movie i want the movie to be fitted in the browser window. But if the browsers width and/or height measures more than my movie i don't want it to fit (zoom), then the swf should only be centered.
View 0 RepliesI have developed a rolling credits style movieclip in Flash using Actionscript 2. Text is loaded from an XML file and parsed into a dynamic textfield. This text includes hyperlinks to webpages defined by a url node in the xml so Flash can add the appropriate a href to the dynamic text field and make the link clickable.
In my first attempts to do this the textfield stayed still and all the links worked fine both testing locally and when I run it in a browser on my website.Then I wanted to make things move ... which I achieved easily enough and tested locally (from within Flash Professional) and the links remained clickable, a browser window opened and the webpage i was expecting to see opened... great
However, when I export the swf, upload it and run it from my website suddenly the links are not working. So I tried to test the movie in a browser from Flash Pro - same problem, it must be something to do with Flash Player and the moving dynamic textfield.
a couple of observations - the cursor will change to a hand icon when over the links as you would expect, and if I right click on the link and click open in a new window the link works ok, just not when I left click. If I stop the scrolling then the links become clickable again, it is only when the textfield is moving... actually its not technically scrolling, im moving the whole textfield.
The title essentially is the question, how do I open the .swf without the browser's control bar junk? and maximize the window?
View 2 RepliesI already have HTML pages built and I'm redoing that site in flash.The content pages will stay the same, so instead of completely rebuilding the pages in flash with a new text scroll box, I am looking for an already built component that will allow me to just load html pages into it.
I don't want to spend the time constructing all the elements separately to accomplish this instead I want one already built that allows me to simply load an html page into it.
is it possible to open a movieClip from the library in a new browser window?
View 3 Repliesi am creating a website for a band, with an mp3 player. i want to be able to make an mp3 player that pops up in a separate browser window. the mp3 player would have a "playlist" that can be dynamically changed from the main window, which gives a list of albums & tracks to choose from. the model for this is Rhapsody's web interface. so, how would i go about creating & dynamically changing the playlist (while music is playing) across multiple browser windows? the "playlist" would be an array of references to mp3s, i guess-- so is there a way to pass events & variables across the windows?
View 4 RepliesI've got a movie with a "next" button. The movie is approximately 1330 px wide. The "next" button needs to move left and right within that width as the browser window is resized. For instance, the browser window starts at greater than 1330px wide so the "next" button is at the far right edge of the movie. The user then resizes the browser down to 800px wide. The "next" button needs to move left to 800px. The entire movie can't resize, only the "next" button in that movie must move.
Here's a link the movie as it currently is. The "next" button shows up after the 2nd click in the sequence. It's the brown arrow on the right. http:[url].....
I'm creating a simple liquid flash site layout with one MC that does not scale and remains at a constant position, and one mc that should stretch to fit either the height or width (whichever's larger) of the stage, but scale proportionally. I thought I had a pretty good grasp on the code for that, but when I put it in, the mc doesn't scale at all, in fact it just disappears! Could anyone take a look and let me know if you see what's wrong?

I've seen a cool effect on: [URL]. Click on DEVLAB and than select the fourth icon. When loading the movie, the browser-window changes it'd dimensions. How can I do this?
View 2 RepliesI have created a fla file in adobe flash cs3. This contains a mainstage with a menu (is a movieclip) and a background (actionscript gradient). I have set the movie to scale so that when it is viewed in a browser it will be adjusted to the size of that window.
My problem or what I want is the following :
- The menu and text of that menu must stay the same size, as created in the fla file, when a scale is done.
- The content of the movie(not the menu) must stay in proportion.
An example site that I found, that demonstrates what I want is [URL]. You can change the browser window size and the menu text size stays the same but the content goes in proportion of the window size.
I have this script on the first frame of my movie:
stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, adjustLayout);
adjustLayout(); // run it once to initialize
[code]....
It's easy to check if movie clip is on the stage/display list.But how to detect if movie clip is inside the visible area of browser window?
View 1 RepliesHi, if I set the scale mode to noscale and then set the width and height to 100% how do I keep the movie from getting pushed beyond the top and left boundaries of the browser window so the scrollbars will appear?

View 1 RepliesI have a flash (.swf) movie on the homepage of a website which runs automatically after been downloaded to browser. However this is creates problems since the swf soon crashes(with message :The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed) and gives error messages like "A script is becoming unresponsive...." Since rest of my site is pure html and js but flash content makes the site very sucking and I want to replace it with a simple better alternate. What options exist for me to replace flash content?
View 2 RepliesI work with 3d animation. Im have a problem with a personal website Im doing, I have a link in a button inside a flash movie to open a new window and play a youtube movie:
on (release) {
var jscommand:String = "window.open('http://www.youtube.com/v/b0L4XLODhAA&hl=en&fs=1&','win','height=344,width=4 25,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes');"; getURL("javascript:" + jscommand + " void(0);");
}
This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.
I taught myself enough AS2.0 to configure flashpaper within my flash portfolio. I have a bunch of blueprints of site plans, elevations, maps, etc. that I like to keep at full size (24"x36",30"x42", 36"x48", etc.) and it worked great with Flashpaper until I bought a new computer with Vista
I have tried Print2Flash (I don't think they print larger than 24"x36" and even then the resolution is srewed up). I have also used Scribd (all of these large PDF files keep crashing). Are there any other special browsers for these large PDFs? I would like to embed the browser into my flash page, but I also want to control the size and dimensions of the browser within the page. I have seen one or two websites that now have Acrobat Reader 9? resized within the main website window.
I am using Flash CS4 and would like to use the available browser component in AIR. However, any information I have found online uses Flex to embed this. Is it available in Flash? I was assuming it was part of the AIR architecture, so it would be able to be used in either, but it doesn't seem so.
