Ios :: Flash CS5.5 For IPad Turns Landscape Stage Into Portrait SWF
Sep 16, 2011
This seems pretty weird even for Adobe standards. I've set up size of the movie to be 1024x768, which is the resolution of ipad screen in landscape. The stage looks ok but when I publish the swf it goes into portrait mode.
I even used this line of code but it doesn't help.
i am building an xml gallery that pops up portrait and landscape images. the pop-up should fit each image. I had this working fine with the code below and then I added a few landscape images with different dimensions. now the landscape ones all pop-up with too much space around them. the first part of the function just puts the imeges in the right place on the movie;
I'm attempting to use "if" statements to determine if an dynamically loaded photo is portrait or landscape. The problem I'm having is when I try "gallery_mc.getChildAt(0).width", it returns 0.
I'm coding a image viewer application for tablets using Adobe Flex 4.5. Basically, I have a list with a custom item renderer that renders the images in the list. I have set up the image size to be the width/height of the tablet device in portrait (600x1024). This way, only one image can be seen at one time. The problem is that when the device orients to landscape, this design obviously screws up. My question is how can I get it to change the width/height of my images automatically when the orientation changes such that only one image is shown at a time?This is my list:
I have created a booklet in InDesign cs4 that includes page turn transitions. I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?
In the Flash CS 5.5 AIR settings for iOS, in the General tab of a panel, there's a menu that lets you specify the target device:
-iPhone; -iPad; -(both) iPhone and iPad;
What happens if I specify the third? That is: I can't understand if I can use the default stage dimensions (iPhone dimensions) or I must eventually create a stage (and assets) for iPad (and it will work for iPhone too).
Flash CS4. When I enter a movie clip to edit the timeline the pasteboard turns to the color of the stage. The result: I can't see the edges of my stage. This is only within the MC. And only within one particular MC (I created another one and the pasteboard stayed 4% gray). When I take the content in the bad MC (via copy frames) and move it to the good one, the same thing happens: Pasteboard turns to the color of the stage. I've tried SFT-CTL-ALT double click. No luck. Strangely, this isn't happening in every FLA. I know it must have something to do with the content on that timeline, but what that is I have no idea.
Why can't I use persistNavigatorState="true" and stage.setAspectRatio(StageAspectRatio.PORTRAIT) together in initializing program. <s:View ...creationComplete="init()">
i have an AIR android app which i am running on an android device ( samsung TAB ). i want the app to get laid out in landscape mode when the user starts the app holding the device in landscape ( same goes with portrait ).
but the AIR app always gets started in portrait mode irrespective of the way the device is held.
i tried the following ways use stage.deviceorientation (but when the app starts (after the applicationComplete notification ) the value is UNKNOWN) use stage resize event. (this gets triggered at start itself, a manual resize is not required - the values are based on portrait mode though - the width is 600 and height is 1024 (should have been otherway) )
i get correct values when i try changing the orientation of device, only at the startup i see problem with the required values.
I have a simple litte banner I did with flash (version 9.0). Just a few images and some text that I fade in and out with a motion tween. When i publish this to an animated gif, the text turns into blobs on the screen.
I'm using a playback control that is giving me problems. The only thing that I'm using is a play/pause buttons and the time scrubber. I found this code on a website. Now, when I preview the swf, it plays fine, but when the video starts playing, the screen turns black and flash quits automatically.
This is the Error that I'm getting: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at Website10_fla::MainTimeline/updateDisplay() at flash.utils::Timer/_timerDispatch() at flash.utils::Timer/tick()
And this is my code: import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.utils.Timer; import flash.events.TimerEvent; // time to buffer for the video in sec.const BUFFER_TIME:Number = 8; // start volume when initializing player // const DEFAULT_VOLUME:Number = 0.6;
I am trying to load an online employee directory where I have scrolling portrait jpegs and once you click on a picture employee information (which is a swf) is displayed in a space above. When I load the fla into Dreamweaver the scroll buttons work, all the profile pics appear, and the intial landing screen is there. Problem is that once you click on the profile pics (buttons), no information appears. This works in Flash (CS4) but not once it is in Dreamweaver. I think this is a loading issue? On each button for the images the code I have is:
on (release) { loadMovie("employeeName_file.swf","_root.screen");}
I have an as3 built osmf video player swf that we embed on a standard HTML page. When you touch the image the video automatically goes fullscreen and begins playing. Droid and Flash often break after changing back and forth between landscape and portrait while in fullscreen.(by break I mean freeze, where you can hear the video and use the controls, but everything is just a still frozen image, the redrawing fails).Can you lock the fullscreen orientation in html, javascript, or do you have to try to handle it inside the swf?
I have a app writing in Flex AS4. Now I have a component and I need to print it using FlexPrintJob. However, every time when users need to print it in landscape mode, he/she has to click the "Properties" button in the dialog of print and change the orientation from portrait to landscape and it is really annoying.
I wander if there is a way to control it in programming? In other words, can I change some codes to set the default properties of printers to print it in landscape mode?
I am making an app in AIR mobile that I need to be in landscape mode all the time. On most devices this is OK, but on some devices (Motorola XOOM for example) the app launches in landscape. At least on the build in emulator that comes with Flash Builder 4.5. I don't know if this is a problem with the emulator or if the XOOM has different orientations than most devices. Anyway, I want to make sure that the device is always in landscape mode. This can be checked easily:
2d Landscape Generation with Midpoint Displacementhey everyone... I'm working on implementing the simple 2d algo. described here:[URL]...html in actionscript. It's a simple midpoint displacement scheme, and it's almost working correctly. The problem i'm having is that the array i'm generating isn't sorting correctly. I need to sort it so that the drawing loop cycles through from left to right (on the x axis)... For some reason, it's not sorting points that are between [0] and [1] in my array. because the algo. is iterative, the problem snowballs the more iterations you run it for.
here's the code i'm working on. it's in 3 frames, and init frame to get it going, and then a loop in frames 2 and three (so that i can see the iterations as they're drawn out):
Years ago, when I was designing a game site, it was recommended to me to do what you pretty much suggested in your answer to a question about Flash sound: put my sound effects as Flash elements. This works great on every platform except the iPad.
I have a website that uses flash. I would like to convert the website so that iphone / ipad users can see my website. I understand that Iphone / Ipad can't render flash. What would be the best-practice to convert flash website to iphone / ipad compatible?
Is its currently possible to publish a Flash App to iPad? I see Flash CS5 has the ability to publish to iPhone/iPad - is Apple supporting this and will be able to be sold in the App store. It would be a lot simpler for me to code up my next project in flash as opposed to objective c and cocos2d.
Ive just started messing around with flash cs5 and trying to make a simple app for the ipad and have it eventually on the app store. The thing that has me concerned is that the animations seem to be struggling on the ipad.
im running it at 24 fps and there is zero physics and very simple AS3 for touch to stop animations. But the animations are running so slowly and the sound layer is no longer in sync with the animation.
Does anyone have any experience with this that can advise me on what the issue may be? why would a simple flash cs5 animation struggle as an ipad app? would the file type of the sound files be an issue?
Has anyone succeeded in getting video to play in Flash published for the iPad? I have tried using both the Video and StageVideo classes, but even though they test successfully in the Flash IDE, they do not work on the iPad. I am using CS5.5.
We have a ASP.net 3.5 website with a simple flash video that plays in a banner. What would be the easiest way to update this so that the video would play on an iPad?
Iīve built an app for the iOs in flash.I successfully generated de .ipa package but on itunes connect the app shows for iphone and Ipad but i wanted distribute it exclusively on ipad.I think it has something to do with the flash builder options but I canīt seem to find that option on flash builder or on the internet to build exclusively for ipad.Does anyone know to build exclusively for the ipad in flash builder?
I can't seem to find any way to force it to go landscape mode all the time. When I go to MyApp-app.xml and edit the <aspectRatio></aspectRatio> tags to landscape, only the main view is landscaped. If I navigate to the second view, it turns back to portrait.
I just upgraded to Flash 5.5. When I compile for iOS my cursor disappears. I'm using the following code. It worked great when I compiled it on 5.0 but it stopped working with 5.5
