Java :: Fields Are Mismatched When Passing Object To Flex
Aug 25, 2010
We have a pretty big application with lots of objects being passed between flex and java One object in particular has a subtle bug:It's a plain old java object being passed to the flex front end (using blazeds producer/consumer messaging). The POJO has two String properties such as:[codewhen I get the object on the frontend, in Flex, the value object's properties are swapped, as in:[code]Clearly, this is some type of confusion blazeds is having when the objects are serialized/deserialized. Since they are both Strings, it seems something is getting confused when reading/writing the objects.Both objects exactly mirror each other with parameters and methods in the same order in the files with the same names.How do I correct the serialization, preferably without having to handle it on my own?

I am building flex application and using blazeDS to pass objects between java and actionscript. I have the following java classes (Property that extends BaseProperty) and their actionscript representation. When I pass the java Property object to the actionscript using blazeDS and trying to cast it as action scipt BaseProperty object I get null. Why? It's important to mention that if I cast it as Property everything is fine.

I am working on an flash application that requires that all user interaction are stored in a database. The application will have thousands of lessons and needs to keep track of how long each user views lessons and scenes with in the lessons.
I would like to come up with a good solution on how to accomplish this with out having to send a call to a serve side object every few seconds. I could store the data in an as3 object and pass it when the user finishes a scene or exits out of a scene. However this would not work when a user just closes the browser. Maybe I could tie in some JavaScript.

I tried with flex and java in the backend. In this, I am able to upload files till 100 MB using remote object (blazeDs) where we will read the file as byte array and send it to the java method. If the file size exceeds after that, then I get the run time error in IE.

Select a school listed in the first datagrid, and display all the student records /details of that school in the next datagrid. But, since datagrid is editable and requirement mentions : "Use a Wrapper class around the object to get the data, set the same and save. Ensure wrapper is bindable to take into consideration the updates being made to datagrid text fields."
I have an object which is a type of a Data Access Objects i.e. DO.
mySchool:mySchoolDO.
The mySchoolDO is an actionScript class of following code :
public class mySchoolDO
{
public var schoolName:String;
public var schoolLocation:String;
[code]....
The showSchoolStudents will display all the details of students on to the datagrid. But, my datagrid is editable. And, I want to use WRAPPER CLASS around this object such that
a> I can retrieve individual values as present in studentsDO i.e. studentID, studentCourses, studentGender, studentPhone.
b> I shouldbe able to set the values as they are updated in the visual datagrid.
c> Finally save all the data and submit on submit click.

Funny is that it even don't shows the Alert that a put! Also, if I remove the tag "RemoteClass" it sends to java but an error occur. Bellow is the code and configs.

I'm currently trying to communicate between java and flex by using sockets and AMF serialized objects.
On the java side I use Amf3Input and Amf3Output from BlazeDS (flex-messaging-common.jar and flex-messaging-core.jar).
The connection is correctly established, and if i try to send object from flex to java, i can easily read objects :
FLEX side :
protected function button2_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
{
var tmp:FlexAck = new FlexAck;
tmp.id="123456789123456789123456789";

the problem is as so: I have a java server running on tomcat 7.0 and having the library Gson 2.1 on it.
I have and object to be encoded into json that got an attribute which is an array and might be an empty one.
when I send my json object via the response writer to the Flex Builder 4.5 in the Network Monitor view in the response type I get unknown. well, I have done my research, and discover that this is a known issue.[URL]..
adobe said that with Flex Builder 4.5 this issue will be fixed. but apparently it ain't so.

I have my flex object embedded to JSP page.The JSP page retrieves user information like user name and group from portal profile object and stores in http session parameters. The flex Object makes a remote call to Employee.class to perform persona based operation.
I retrieved the session id in JSP and also in the Employee.class both are same. But I am not able to retrieve the username stored in the http session from FlexSession. I read in the internet that the FelxSession will hold all httpSession information as well. It's always coming as null. Correct me if I am wrong.

I have a NavigatorContent which is displayed when the user selects an item in a DataGrid. This NavigatorContent contains a form and an accordion displaying the related objects.
When the user presses the Save button in the NavigatorContent the form and the children should be saved to the database by calling the server through BlazeDS:
saveObjectToDB()
{
//Map the form values to the object
object.field1 = object_field1.text;
[Code]....
The object that i pass to the accordion children is public and [Bindable] in the NavigatorContent and in the accordion children and is initially passed from the main DataGrid. May this be a problem relating to this issue?

I'm building a Facebook multiplayer game where the client side is in FLEX and the server side is in Java and I wanted to know if there is a guide on how to build the server clients managing system. When I say server clients managing system, I mean a server which many clients will connect to and will be able to choose between tables to join and play or to create their own table, same way as in texas holdem poker.

Right away i just try to explain my problem: Using BlazeDS i got the following Javaclasses:
[Code]...
Then i got a Flex service class calling BlazeDS and executing the getCategories java method. Since Flash dosn't seem to understand typed arrays, the result from that method which i get back in flex is a simple array of untyped objects (the mapping dosn't seem to work here, even tought the class category exists in flex and has the same properties).
thats the first thing. but however, i'm converting the untyped objects manually into objects of the category.as class. the second thing is that categories have child-categories within the java object, which are also ArrayLists of the type category.java. the problem about that: my result event object only contains the first level of categories, looking into them the children are allways null. i dunno why they are empty, since they ARE part of the java object category.
and the third thing (the strangest by fast), you maybe noticed i named the properties of the category.java class strange, like idCat and nameTest instead of simply id and name. why that? because the property names of my flex result objects dont seem to change when i change the java objects properties names (result object properties are named "id" and "name" but the java class object properties are named "idCAT" and "nameTEST"). that it REALLY strange, since if i set the properties, like you see at nameTEST = "TESTNAME" it IS recogniced by flex, only the proertyNAMES dont seem to be recognized at all.

There are many dynamic languages that target Sun's JVM (Groovy, Scala, Jython, Jruby etc) and I was sure there are many that target Adobe's AVM as well. But I was surprised to find only haXe do something similiar. related question on this site
I think the eclipse e4 SWT project doesn't compile to ABC (ActionScript Byte Code) directly, but first converts Java to AS3 and then the Flex compilter does the rest.Could it be that no one yet wrote a simple Java / Python / Scala AVM2 compiler that can be used as an alternative to the proprietary Adobe Flash Builder (formerly Flex Builder)?I don't mind paying Adobe for a fine producy, but writing Java in eclipse is so much faster and convinent than the half baked adobe plugin suite. are there really no efforts other than haXe?

Since I'm developing a multiplayer card game for Facebook using Flex as client side and Java SE as server side, I wanted to know how do I actually make the connection between Flex and Java? the server and client should be able to send each other data(cards,movement,room information etc...) across and I wonder what's the easiest way to do it without complicating it. where to read about it ? I know JAVA but I find JavaEE hard to understand.
