Flex Client App Connect To BlazeDS Running On A Different Server?

Feb 9, 2010

As far as In understand the Flex technology, a Flex client connects to a Flex server to retrieve business information. Is this the only allowed connection for the client, back to the originating server? Or can a Flex client also open a secondary connection to a different server wich runs BlazeDS for message exchange?(This might offer an option for load balancing and cross-platform development).

Update: I have found this page which links to the Cross-domain policy file specification:[URL]..

Java - Connecting Non-flex Client To Server Running BlazeDS?

Aug 27, 2010

I have Flex/AIR app that connects to a tomcat server via BlazeDS. I'm not finding that I have to integrate an old webapp (struts/jsp) and I'd like to keep that webapp untouched except for login, authentication and session handling. Also a 3rd java app that uses httpclient.

Currently I have some blazeDS remote objects to handle login/logout with a few RPC calls. In turn, FlexSession objects are created and handled. Is there a way to use httpclient and javascript to call those blazeds RPCs so I dont have to recode and have 3 different means to handle logins and sessions?

Java :: Push Data From BlazeDS Without Receive Message From Flex Client?

Dec 9, 2009

I am using BlazeDS for data-push feature in my Flex application project. From the official tutorial, Getting started with BlazeDS, it shows messaging example with producer/consumer from API. but how can I implement server side which doesn't need to be invoke from Flex client, but from within server-side instead. I got some idea but I don't know how to do because I'm a Flex developer, not Java developer In Google, there's a tutorial show about I need to extend ServiceAdapter class in Java-side, which extends Invoke method. Do I need to extend other class instead of this to do what I want?

Java :: BlazeDS: Some Class Instances Already Created On The Server Are Unavailable From Flex?

Feb 10, 2011

I have a question about the Java Factory; I've read somewhere that: "... the JavaFactory will check if there is already an instance in the scope and return that. If the object is not available then it is instantiated ...", but I don't understand the expression "if the object is not available"?I am having trouble to find and/or assign classes already instantiated (by another class) in the server, to a declared destination.

I'm developing an application in Java: J2EE.I'm running it on a Tomcat 6 server I'm using BlazeDS to communicate with Flex. I'm using the RPC's Remoting Service (through RemoteObjects)There are two java classes that handle Client (Flex) interaction, say ApplicationClass and UserApplicationClass:

ApplicationClass has a reference

Java :: Flex - BlazeDS And Class In WAR File - Implement Server Side Process?

Oct 26, 2009

I have a java class which has been deployed as WAR web application in a BlazeDS/Spring server sitting on JBOSS. Apart from the Flex application which will access the WAR file, I also need to start some server side process's which will initiate BlazeDS "pushes" to the Flex client via AMF messaging.

What is the best way to implement this server side process? - Should it just be a class with a main() method in the WAR file which gets called from the command line? Can this be done - not sure you can run a class in a WAR file from command line? - Should it just be a class with a main() method in a JAR file which gets called from the command line? Not sure what the standard practise here is. The key is that the process needs to be started on the BlazeDS server to push data out (not on the Flex client).

Java :: Flex - Flash Client To Talk To A Server Through A Full-duplex Connection?

My client is in Flash/Flex (game with chat) and it will be talking to a Java server. What is the best way (protocol / interface) for my Flash client to talk to my server? I heard about Flash Remoting MX, but it is a request / response mechanism. I could always request something and wait for asynchronous notifications from server. Then request again, implementing something like a Comet server.Anyways, what is the industry standard for this type of communication: Flash Client talking to Java server, supporting asynchronous "push" notifications from server.

Java :: Encrypt Sqlite Db File With Server Side / So Flex / Air Client Can Read It?

Jan 23, 2012

We are trying to create a sqlite db file using java on the server, and encrypt it.Then we send the encrypted db file to a client's pc, which has an Adobe Air desktop app running. The air app then needs to be able to open/read-from the encrypted db file (client is read-only).We are using java 1.6, flex/actionscript 4.5, and Air 3.1.We can create the sqlite db file on the server and send it to the client, and it can be read by the client without issues, when we do not encrypt it.But we are having trouble with the encryption part. We've read quite a lot of documentation about Actionscript's ability to open encrypted sqlite files using AES + CCM (URL...).And we're trying to use java's crypto package to encrypt the sqlite db file. The encryption is important because we don't want the client to be able to open the sqlite db file with any sqlite browser, only with our Air application.

AS3.0 :: Java - Flex - ArrayList Of Custom Java Objects Over BlazeDS

Dec 7, 2010

Right away i just try to explain my problem: Using BlazeDS i got the following Javaclasses:

[Code]...

Then i got a Flex service class calling BlazeDS and executing the getCategories java method. Since Flash dosn't seem to understand typed arrays, the result from that method which i get back in flex is a simple array of untyped objects (the mapping dosn't seem to work here, even tought the class category exists in flex and has the same properties).
thats the first thing. but however, i'm converting the untyped objects manually into objects of the category.as class. the second thing is that categories have child-categories within the java object, which are also ArrayLists of the type category.java. the problem about that: my result event object only contains the first level of categories, looking into them the children are allways null. i dunno why they are empty, since they ARE part of the java object category.

and the third thing (the strangest by fast), you maybe noticed i named the properties of the category.java class strange, like idCat and nameTest instead of simply id and name. why that? because the property names of my flex result objects dont seem to change when i change the java objects properties names (result object properties are named "id" and "name" but the java class object properties are named "idCAT" and "nameTEST"). that it REALLY strange, since if i set the properties, like you see at nameTEST = "TESTNAME" it IS recogniced by flex, only the proertyNAMES dont seem to be recognized at all.

Flex :: Messaging - Selective Server Data Push Using Spring Blazeds

Mar 1, 2011

I have a flex UI which communicates with server using spring blazeds. I have a very typical requirement of Live data streaming on a panel in UI. Requirement is like this, We have an object say, Person and server keeps pushing its data on blazeds message destination where UI panel consumer has subscribed and hence user can see this live data in a panel. User can open multiple panels in same browser to view data for different Persons at the same time (e.g id=1,2,3 respectively). There can be multiple UI users who may be viewing the same data for person id=1 at a given time, lets say.

Basically I want to separate data between UI panels. UI panel opened for person id=1 must not display data of that for person id=2. I am doing this using headers-selectors, but apparently I found out that the differentiation to select and display what data happens on UI which is causing performance issues. I learned that using subtopics may improve performance. But, before proceeding for it, I want to know, will UI browser end up in receiving data irrespective of subtopic assigned to data and then consumer will decide to accept it or not?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Connect To C# Server From Flash Client Using SSL/TLS?

Sep 15, 2010

We are currently in the process of trying to connect a c# server from a flash app. This hasnt been a problem so far - we have simply used the Socket class. We now have a requirement to encrypt the stream using SSL/TLS. This is no problem in c#, but much more problematic on the flash side. So far we have found two options: As3crypto lib, and AIR 2.0 SecureSocket. However, neither option has proved to be successful.

As3Crypto - TLSSocket

Using this method when we execute the code, the server throws an exception - this appears to be due to As3Crpyto's PARTIAL support of TLS.

AIR 2.0 - SecureSocket

We are currently using the latest Flex 4 SDK. We have imported AirGlobal.swc to alllow us to create a SecureSocket in a similar manner to the TLSSocket. The code builds but does not run - some File Not found error or something - probably because SecureSocket is not found in the runtime. I assume this is because AIR is intended for desktop applications rather than apps embedded in a browser.

So, now we're stuck. We have the option of encrypting the data instead using some PGP algorithm available in the As3Crypto lib. However, we would much prefer to encrypt the stream using something like TLSSocket or SecureSocket.

Flex :: Use Dto's To Transfer Data Between Server And Client?

Oct 28, 2009

I've read some books on creating stateless websites, I've read some about stateful client applications, but a lot of complexity comes along when you have to combine both. We have a Flex application that needs to persist data to a database via .NET services. Things to keep in mind are:

- Concurrency (optimistic/pessimistic)

- Performance: Flex needs to load in lots of data so lazy-loading is often necessary.

- Do you use Dto's to transfer data between server and client?

I'll tell you the history of our product. We've used SubSonic from the beginning as a o/r mapper. SubSonic objects are converted to dto's written by us and these dto's are transferred to the client. Clientside the dto's are converted to the domain model. If clientside a domain model object needs to be saved, it is converted back to a dto and send to the server. Server side the dto is converted to a subsonic object and saved to the database.

Now, some time ago, we needed the domain model on the .NET server side... so now we have like three models on the server side, the subsonic model, the dto model and the domain model. The dto model is more simple and resembles the database more, the domain model has much more logic. It gets complex... We now have to synchronize the AS3 domain model code with the C# domain model code. If we could do it again (of get time to refactor) I think we wouldn't use the dto's anymore, but transfer the domain model between client and server. Dto's are simple objects so easy to transfer. Domain model objects can be very complex.

Flex :: Connect Application To Two Different BlazeDS Servers?

Mar 15, 2012

is it possible to connect to two different BlazeDS servers from the same Flex app? I have already read this question: Can a Flex client app connect to BlazeDS running on a different server? However, it appears to be discussing the possibility of connecting a Flex client to a BlazeDS on a different server but not necessarily to another BlazeDS on a different server.

One Flex client connecting to two webapps using BlazeDS - Detected duplicate HTTP-based FlexSessions

In attempts I have tried, I get the error mentioned in the second question above: Detected duplicate HTTP-based FlexSessions, generally due to the remote host disabling session cookies. Session cookies must be enabled to manage the client connection correctly.

Is connecting one Flex application to two BlazeDS enabled servers completely impossible? We want to be able to have a "common functionality" BlazeDS server that is used by a number of Flex apps that each have their own local BlazeDS server for their own functionality.

The way I'm currently doing it:

In my mxml file, I'm defining a a channset like so:

<mx:ChannelSet id="dataService1Channel">
<mx:channels>
<mx:AMFChannel id="dataService1AmfChannel"

[Code].....

The calls work and I can get the data but I'm getting that warning I mentioned in the form of an alert in the Flex application.
