View 3 RepliesI'm building a Facebook multiplayer game where the client side is in FLEX and the server side is in Java and I wanted to know if there is a guide on how to build the server clients managing system. When I say server clients managing system, I mean a server which many clients will connect to and will be able to choose between tables to join and play or to create their own table, same way as in texas holdem poker.
View 1 RepliesAs a first step getting a Hello World Flex-to-Java application to compile and run I followed: [URL] And it ran successfully. However now I wish to automate the build in Maven. How to specify the Flex Server location in the pom.xml?
View 1 RepliesI have a server with some simple java objects running. I want to build the client with Flex and connect to the server data with BlazeDS. The problem is the Flash Builder is not generating the Classes correctly. Just the properties are being generated, the inheritance are not being generates.
View 1 RepliesI am writing a game where positions of an object are being exchanged between the two flash clients through a java server. The secnario goes simply like this:
PlayerA ---> Server : "Position X + Position Y+
"
Server ---> PlayerB: "Position X + Position Y+
"
and it works both ways of course.the problem here is that on my computer where i use "localhost" everything is fine and the data is exchanged seamlessly .. when I loaded the server on a remote host the message received strangely turns into something like "Position X + NaN" (i.e. the y position is wrongly parsed by the server), what is weird even more, is that sometimes, the message gets parsed correctly..the server is wrote in java and it is exactly the same source code that works on my machine that fails over the internet
I am trying to build a flash player for my company's Shoutcast server, and have seen a few articles about it on the 'net, including this SO question here. However, I can't seem to get the audio stream to actually play. It seems to be connecting alright, but calling stream.play() doesn't seem to do anything.
public function stream() {
private var url:URLREQUEST = "my.domain.com";
private var sStream:Sound = new Sound();
sStream.load(url);
sStream.play();
}
What technology are better (robust, stable, speed) for rich web app with flash movies, chat, etc. Somebody said that Red5 will drop down if more that 50 users try to suck video stream from it. Is there people who use Java on server side and Flash for client side?
View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble with a XMLSocket script in AS3. I have a java server and i'm trying to send a XML data, but the server isn't recieving anything. The most suprising is that my script worked very well a month ago, and now my IOError listener returns me.[code]
View 2 RepliesFor example, Flash records voice and sends it to the server where Java or C# apps can proccess it and return back some data (or write it to db). How this communication possible, which protocols sould be used and etc.
View 2 RepliesWe are building a Flash application for client use but will need to do server side processing of images. All our expertise and application code is in Java, but I've been told Dot Net has better Flash support. This is general but we will be modifying large (up to 50MB) image files. The idea is that what we could do in Flash should be duplicated, automated and extended on the server side.
View 2 RepliesI have a working TCP/IP socket server that loads 3-flash files in succession. How can I unload previous files and eliminate the garbage build up? 2-Flash clients are active, 1-the loader, 2-the next Flash file being loaded, however "the Flash files don't unload." Maybe there's a "put - kill" method or something similar to addChild removeChild in as3.

I'm trying to create a simple Flash chat application for educational purposes, but I'm stuck trying to send a policy file from my Java server to the Flash app (after several hours of googling with little luck). The policy file request reaches the server that sends a harcoded policy xml back to the app, but the Flash app doesn't seem to react to it at all until it gives me a security sandbox error.

I'm building a Flash-based Facebook game with a Java backend, and I'm planning to use a RESTful approach to connect the two of them (not a persistent socket connection). I'm using the AS3 library to connect the client to Facebook, so that's where I have my session information stored. However, how do I authorize client connections back to the server? I can't leave the callback URLs open since that'd let people manipulate game state without playing the game. I need to make sure that the calls are coming from a valid client and through a valid session.
At the moment, users have no direct login to the backend server -- it's all handled through the client frontend. Can I pass the Facebook OAuth2 access token to the backend in a way that the backend can verify its validity? Should that be enough to trust a valid frontend connection?
I could do a two legged OAuth signed request or just use a simple shared secret, but the keys would have to be packed in with the flash client, which makes that almost useless for this use case.

I am trying to send info using USLStream from flash client to JAVA server.Some of the info is Chinese so i have to use Unicode.
View 1 RepliesI built two flash uploaders using actionscript 3 & actionscript 2 that sends files to a java servlet. The java servlet successfully receives that file, but the flash uploader fires an IOerror #2038 instead of a complete event.
There was another question is my exact same problem, but the answer "clear the cache" was very broad, and the question owner was too lazy to give a detailed description.

I am looking for libraries or solutions to convert a Microsoft PowerPoint file into a playable Flash file. The constraints are that I must be able to do this from Java, a webapp, that is running on a Linux-based server. I have been scouring Google and have only come up with two options: iSpring SDK -[URL] Option #1 is looking like it will be cost prohibitive based on initial conversations with the vendor (i.e. no price listed on web site). Option #2 seems non-ideal as it will require installing additional dependencies of OpenOffice and X11. This seems like too much overhead for what should be an inline solution.
Everything else I could find was either written only for Microsoft .NET or was just a PowerPoint plugin exporter. Any other solutions out there that are being buried by Google SEO? Can someone, maybe, convince me that the overhead of Option #2 really ain't that bad?
Update: I should clarify that I'm not opposed to reliance on a native library as long as it will compile on CentOS or, preferably, has a yum package available. I should, also, clarify, that I'm not opposed to a "for pay" option within realms of reasonable.
My client is in Flash/Flex (game with chat) and it will be talking to a Java server. What is the best way (protocol / interface) for my Flash client to talk to my server? I heard about Flash Remoting MX, but it is a request / response mechanism. I could always request something and wait for asynchronous notifications from server. Then request again, implementing something like a Comet server.Anyways, what is the industry standard for this type of communication: Flash Client talking to Java server, supporting asynchronous "push" notifications from server.
View 4 RepliesAuthentication is performed with Basic auth over SSL (although the password inside the basic auth is SHA-2'ed). The issue is that using basic authentication for the Flash client is causing the standard browser log-in box to appear because of "WWW-Authentication: Basic" in the header. Flash is unable to bypass this by manually setting the Authorization header prior to the request.Other clients need to be able to authenticate via the existing mechanisms, so rewriting the authentication logic would not be ideal.
I have the idea that the authorization headers sent to and received from flash client could be dynamically rewritten to use another name for Basic auth which would cause the browser not to understand the auth mechanism and not present the dialog box. Authentication headers to and from Tomcat could be rewritten from "WWW-Authenticate: Basic" to "WWW-Authenticate: PretendBasic" but ideally the built in container security could still handle the basic auth after the rewrite.
I wrote a filter to rewrite inbound headers as "WWW-Authenticate: PretendBasic" as "WWW-Authenticate: Basic" hoping the next filter chain would be auth and the request would be handled as normal. Unfortunately the Servlet specification states that a filter cannot be inserted prior to authentication. I think the only possibility of this working is to create a stackable JAAS authentication module that would first perform a header rewrite on requests if coming from the Flash client, and then pass authentication through to the existing container managed security systems.
We want to build the web-based softphone using SIP technology And we want to use the Asterisk as the Communication server and Java as primary technology in building the system so we have got following flash based softphone using Adobe Flash,FMG,FMS flex based softphone using Flex , Red5 Server we are also reseraching into MjSIP and PjSIP

View 1 RepliesI am trying to build a DVR Cast app using DVRCast 1.2 provided by Adobe. The problem I am facing right now is that I am finding difficult to record multiple streams at the same time so that I can make dynamic stream to work correctly. Even though Adobe has provided DVRControllerSynch, it does not mention anything how the streams are recorded.
View 4 RepliesI want to build apps to stream to Apple/IOS devices but I don't have an Ipad or Iphone.......what programs can I use to emulate Apple/IOS devices? Is there an emulator? Or will a download of quicktime work? maybe HTML5 video object will work in any webbrowser. I haven't looked into what it takes to use FMS on Apple/IOS devices, so maybe I will answer this question by this afternoon.
View 6 RepliesI'm putting together a form but I guess you have to create a server side script to receive the variables and then email them somewhere... but I'm not sure if I have to use php5 or php cli...
View 2 RepliesThe company I work for installed FMS on a server running Centos for a customer who needed streaming media capabilities. It worked fine for 3 months until today the customer called us and informed us that their client program can no longer connect to the streaming media server. No one has done anything to the server to cause this to happen. When attempting to access the admin console to diagnose the program, the streaming server returned a 500 Internal Server Error. So I tried another page. Same result. Reboots of both the hardware server and the FMS have changed nothing.
View 5 RepliesOne server - is streaming server with Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5that host the application with asc files in FMS application directory.Second server - is the IIS web server that host thehtml,aspx,swf etc.. files.So basically i heve swf file on one server that have to connect to live streaming via rtmp on different server with different ip address.I did not find any clear explanation on this crossdomain rmtp issue.ys only HTTP can use crossdomain.xml policy filebut not rmtp.So what policy security procedure need to be done in order to enableswf file hosted on one server to connect and show rmtp live cam broadcasting from another server?
View 2 RepliesI'm currently working on a project that need to communicate with java from air without the use of a server like Tomcat. For this i found and use Flerry.Communicating between Java and Air is no problem, as long as I try to send a message from the class that I initially instantiated from Air.What I try to do is subscript to messages from a Message Class in java and use that class to send info and errors to Air from Java.
MessageController.java:
public class MessageController
{[code]....
the infoMessageHandler receives an message containing test message, as it should. How can I dispatch messages from whatever class in Java and catch them on the Air side?
I'm writing socket server in java for my flash browser based game and i need to connect to mysql database. Is it possible to connect to mysql through socket server and send received data to connected flash clients?
View 1 RepliesI was looking for the source code of flex-rds-server.jar at the BlazeDS distro but I could not find it. I did some research, but could neither find this project nor an explanation of what is inside this jar. So, I guess it is not open source. Is that right? I'm right now trying to write a maven pom.xml to make a service project and seems that adobe (at least the blazeds project) is not maven friendly at all. I had to download the blazeds source code to be able to install it in my local repository, that was fine. But right now I bumped into this flex-rds-server.jar and I'm having a huge headache.
