View 1 RepliesI'm still relatively new to Java and Android development, so I'm still unfamiliar with the multitudes of libraries available for use, particularly for animation. Where I'm from (the Flash world), we have access to several 3rd-party tweening engines that make life very easy for us when we want to programmatically move things around the stage without relying on the (vastly inferior) built-in Adobe tween APIs. One of the most popular is Greensock's TweenMax
Looking at the way Android handles tweening natively, it appears to be very cumbersome compared to what I'm used to. I'm curious if there's a TweenMax-equivalent library out there for Android that makes animation sequencing equally easy to write in-code, with the benefits of smart intellisense, rather than having to write them all out in an external animation.xml file in the res folder.
Is it possible to capture user typed inputs from keyboard and overwrite user entered text with pre-defined words in Flex/Adobe Air? I'm looking for a functionality in Adobe Air something like "typinator" does.
View 1 RepliesPossible Duplicate: Lint tool for actionscript? I'm looking for source code quality tool (others call it "static analysis" tools) for Adobe Flash. Something like JSLint for JavaScript or JLint for Java.
View 1 RepliesWe're designing an application and the client has requested that a portion of their app stay in Java Web Start and another portion be in a browser. I'm thinking about AIR as an alternative to the browser because that may give us more features b/c we don't have to stay in the browser security sandbox.How would I go about having an Air app talk to a Java Web Start app? Do they have to talk through a server? I guess potentially you can just create a socket connection between the two.
View 1 RepliesI would like to create an Options Menu in my Flash AIR application for Android. I've figured out already, that this ActionScript code could be used for capturing the hardware Menu button press event:
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, _onKeyDown);
function onKeyDown(event:KeyboardEvent):void {
if(event.keyCode == Keyboard.MENU) {
event.preventDefault();
trace("Menu Pressed");
}}
But how do you create the actual menu? If you can't do it with AIR, then has anybody tried to recreate/mimic it manually already and could you please share the properties (colors, transparency, any gradients?) and transitions (sliding in/out) you've used? I've found some guidelines already, but any Flash-specific tips/properties (like which easing to use for sliding transitions?).
How can I embed a adobe flash player inside a java based desktop application? Can I be able to load and run an on-line flash game in it?
View 1 RepliesI've been porting a Flex 4 codebase to iOS using the adobe packager, but have run into a snag when trying to package our whole codebase. The packager runs for a while and then throws an OutOfMemoryError - even if I increase the java heap size to 4GB. No single piece of code seems to be causing the problem, as it compiles successfully if I cut out large chunks of code, and I can change which chunks I'm omitting. It might be related to the size of the code itself.I've logged a very detailed bug report with adobe here: ou can package to reproduce the issue, a ruby script that generates actionscript codeto generate that AIRI file, and a summary of all of the things I tried before logging the bug.
View 2 RepliesFDT can do it, but half the time it times out and needs to be restarted on renaming some objects. Can Flash Builder do this?
View 1 RepliesI used this in my code after finding the info on Adobe but it did not work and caused my swf to fail:
selection.setFocus(firstTxt);
it didn't work with the quote marks either so what is the correct syntax for as3
I want to find out how to find objects on stage in order to change their names, using actionscript in run commands.
View 2 RepliesI used to use Mochi Leaderbords before starting coding Adobe Air games for iPhone and Android. As the Mochi API doesn't have mobile support I had to find something else and found Playtomic. Playtomic is great and easy to use, BUT it's constantly down My players are complaing on how often the highscore server is down. For me it's like 6/10 times I try to view scores that it doesn't show.alternative free highscore system that works with Adobe Air for mobile?
View 1 RepliesI am a senior IT student working on a mobile application for Android. I have 2.5 months design to complete implementation.App basics:
-Seismographer app
-Record data from accelerator
-Visualize data in a live fashion on a graph
-Connect several phones together via bluetooth/wifi to sync up the data
-Geo-aware application - optional
I have limited java knowledge and mainly specialize in system admin and web development. Given my constraints, is it better for me to use Adobe AIR/Flex/ActionScript to develop this? Or Google SDK/Java would take just as long?I feel like on one hand Adobe is faster, but Java is more straightforward?
I am successfully running Bluetooth-SPP applications relying on http://bluecove.org/ that is Java to Java.
I do now want to establish Bluetooth-connectivity in an Adobe Flex-application. Anyone has experience, ideas?
I need to call a java class from my adobe air application . Is it possible.
View 1 RepliesI developed a Adobe Air Application and I discovered that the Mobile I am trying to install the application is not compatible with the Adobe Air's supported devices because this wasn't launched yet.
I have some ideas:
Is possible to change the Mobile Name to fake another device and Adobe Air not refuse the installation? Is possible to convert AIR to Java? s possible to run Air without Java? Abandon Flash and do it in Java or Javascript.
What is the best solution for multi threading in flex, I notice if I play a mp3 in flex and do something else at the same time something ends up giving out, either the song stops playing or the UI hangs for about a split second. It doesn't have that fluid response that I am looking to achieve. If possible I would like to call a multi threaded java class to do some of the client-side end back end processing. I just don't know if that is possible.
View 6 RepliesI am new to web technologies. I along with my friends want to develop a web application. There is one guy in our team who knows Flex technology. I would like to use Java Springs framework at the back end. The web application caters to students a Music school. And for the same reason we chose Flex for UI since the application needs to be flashy and rich in graphics.
The application allows students to create profiles and interact with the teacher. Eventually we want to add Online Music classes feature with online payment gateway integrated. Kindly guide me which are the suitable technologies to use at the back end. Also let me know if SpringFlex with BlazeDS integration is a good combination with Adobe Flex.
Most of the desktop application development I do is in Swing, and I'm curious to hear people's thoughts on using JavaFX and/or Adobe Flex for building desktop applications. Have you had success building desktop apps with these? Or would you stick with Swing for now and use tools to help make Swing development more productive?
View 6 RepliesI would like to be able to operate a scanner from my AIR application. Since there's no support for this natively, I'm trying to use the NativeProcess class to start a jar file that can run the scanner. The Java code is using the JTwain library to operate the scanner. The Java application runs fine by itself, and the AIR application can start and communicate with the Java application. The problem seems to be that any time I attempt to use a function from JTwain (which relies on the JTwain.dll), the application dies IF AIR STARTED IT.[code]
View 2 RepliesIs it possible to load a .properties file from a client computer using adobe flex? I have a flex app that needs to access a server and multiple URLs but the URLs may change frequently. So I think modifying and loading the URLs from a .properties file would be the easiest way update the URLs
I was able to use florians suggestion and I've added the code below if anyone else is interested. I used the example here URLLoader.
public function URLLoaderDataFormatExample(event:Event):void
{
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("file:///c:/temp/prop.properties");
var variables:URLLoader = new URLLoader();

I would like to learn Adobe Flex mobile development.I have created a new project called SampleProject, then I got SampleProject.mxml in default package and SampleProjectHomeView.mxml.[code]How can I call the add and sub methods from the class above in SampleProjectHomeView.mxml?
View 1 RepliesI am preparing a document for a project. The project's backend is developed in Java, frontend is adobe flex.
I am not sure about the correct way of describe the project in Model-View-Controller way.
For Model layer: Using Hibernate Java beans to implement all the business logic and persistence? For View Layer: Using Adobe flex send post or get request to Controller layer, and get respond in XML format. For Controller Layer: Using Java servlet to handle requests from Flex client?
I have a client-server multigame suite for PC ("kind of" cross-platform using cygwin), which is developed in Java(game menus and database management), C++ (server side), and adobe Flash (game graphics & interaction).
I have never tried to develop for android, so i have no experience.I am thinking of migrating this suite to google TV. So i would like someone with android experience to give a clue on the following :
1) Is it going to be easy to migrate the Java application to an Android application?
2) What kind of Flash support does Android have? Can it load directly swf applications? Does it have to load swf's through browser?
3) Can i find any kind of performance indexes for google TV hardware?
I need to load somehow the html code of a webpage A into a javascript string of another webpage B, on a different host. I know this is impossible to do with javascript alone because of the same origin policy, and I know I could do it loading the page via php on my server and then send results back to the user's client but I wouldn't be able to handle so many requests, so I need it to be done directly by the user's browser. I can use nearly whatever browser scripting language/applet framework common enough to be installed on the majority of my users' computers, like flash and java.On example, what if I use flash or java to load the external html code and then call a javascript callback function providing the source? Could this work?
View 2 RepliesIf one doesn't have the source code, the only to test is to send keystroke and mouse move so I found this product but it's not free and opensource price is not even known :([URL] Squish supports automating interactions and testing non-HTML/DOM elements, that is, native objects, which are embedded in a web page. This is done at a fairly abstract level, which means that mouse and text input can be recorded and replayed.
In addition it is possible to inspect embedded native objects with the Spy tool and to insert verifications for these native objects. All of a native object's public properties can be accessed in test scripts.
I'm working on a Flash project and someone recommended Red5 as a media streaming server. Do I need to know java to use build applications that use Red5 as their server?
View 2 RepliesSince iphone doesn't support flash at all.
Is it Darwin streaming server ?
