I want to add scripting functionality to my Adobe Flex application. I know it's possible to use the Browser control, and add the script packaged as a HTML file to the Browser control, and expose Flex objects. However I'd like to if it is possible to execute JavaScript without using the Browser control.UPDATE: I guess my question hasn't been clear enough. I'll explain what I'm trying to do.I want to make my application customizable using JavaScript ie., add scripting/plugins to my application dynamically.I realize that it's possible to dynamically execute Javascript by inserting the JS code into the HTMLLoader control. View 2 RepliesI would like to take advantage of Adobe's Runtime Shared Library system for swc's, but I'm not sure how it ACTUALLY works, like the programming behind it. I understand that it allows you to load SWCs at runtime, but how does it do that?
I'm asking because I would like to try to mimic something like the Signed RSL "swz" system Adobe uses to cache the Flex Framework into the Flash Player, so if you ever visit a site that downloads the Flex framework for some flash website, then the next time, and forevermore, you don't have to download it again.
I can't do this because I'm using my own version of the Flex SDK from the Sandbox, and I have like 5 other swc's I'm using (Mate, RestfulX, etc.). I would like to be able to cache these things permanently, and only have them re-download them if they change.
How do I do that, or what should I read, other than the Adobe RSL docs and such? Can I use javascript or ruby to do this?
Adobe air runtime prevents more than one instance of an air application to be started at the same time. Is it safe to circumvent this restriction by arbitrarily changing the publisher ID? Does anyone know if Adobe plans to allow multiple concurrent instances in Air 2.0?

I'm wondering if its possible to do what I'm thinking, and if it is possible, does anyone know of a flash object that does what I need? I know a Flash object can provide a javascript API to interact with it, what I dont know is can Flash send an email directly without the need to talk to the webserver to do so? If thats possible would it not be possible to write a flash object that did nothing but provide an API to send emails? Has such a thing been created that is out there for others to use?

I'm currently working on a project for Adobe Air (1.5.3) and I need to unzip a file, copy some of its contents to another file. Then I saw people talking about the Fzip ([URL]) lib. The problem is that I don't know how to "import" or use this library with Javascript and Adobe Air, since Javascript doesn't have the import directive.

I sent an email to pom regarding a tutorial that he wrote, but the email was bounced and he hasn't replied to my PM. I have followed both of pom's tutorials that involve experiments with perspective in Flash, but I have encountered a problem while attempting to duplicate a movie clip symbol in the second tutorial ([URL]). I have a single instance of the "ball" movie clip symbol appearing at random positions. Im trying to implement a mini browser in adobe air. The browser should work in the same ways as a mobile phone browser, i.e. fit the width of the website to a certain width(specified within the html component) and leave the height to be scrollable. I have managed to do a mini browser by using the scaleX,scaleY properties of the mx:HTML component however these make the websites look unreadable. I have also tried setting the css3 zoom property, and that works fine, but it only zooms out certain elements, therefore messing up the site layout. My question is: Is there a way to make a mini web browser which shows the full content of the website?

View 1 Repliesoriginal: I really just need to figure out how to center the pictures. here is what I did I have modified the tutorial that I finished to have a bigger stage for bigger pictures. Everything is working properly but the pictures are displayed on the left side, I want to have them centered in the stage for the images, after clicking on the thumbnails, plus my images are different sizes as well. ranging from 200x410 to 744x410 but all are the same height of 410. i will post up what I am talking about at the end. I have the following component in an AIR application from Flex 4:

Now I want to run a javascript when the page loads but the javascript isn't inside the target page. I want to run the following javascript:

I tried approaching it by setting the location property again to the javascript after the page has loaded like below.
