I'm currently working on a project for Adobe Air (1.5.3) and I need to unzip a file, copy some of its contents to another file. Then I saw people talking about the Fzip ([URL]) lib. The problem is that I don't know how to "import" or use this library with Javascript and Adobe Air, since Javascript doesn't have the import directive.
View 2 RepliesUsing the office open XML format by microsoft I was able to create the files needed for a clean Word document. These files are all XML files. What I do is write the XML content to a different bytearray for each file.
I then add the bytearray's to the FZIP library [url] and create a docx file using the following code:

Ok this creates a new docx file in my documents. If I rename the .docx to .zip and unzip it it will follow the exact structure needed for Word documents (example: [url]
In this example "Untitled Document" was originally "Untitled document.docx" (then renamed to .zip and extracted)
So you can see everything works fine untill... you try to open the "Untitled document.docx" in Word. It will say the file is corrupt.
WHAT DOES WORK HOWEVER... After extracting the docx file (like in screenshot) when you select all the files/folders inside the Untitled Document folder and ZIP those, then rename ZIP file to docx (see result: [url]) it works fine in Word and word reads the file correctly.
NOTE: If you try to zip and rename the Untitled Document folder again it will become corrupt again as well.
So my question: What could be the problem that the word file is corrupt when zipped using FZIP in actionscript 3 but works fine when you ZIP the files after extracting your corrupt file.
I was wondering if anyone has tried to zip up json files and load them in AS3 with the FZip library.My json files are syntactically correct (when I load them with URLLoader they load fine) but when I try to JSON.decode() them after I have loaded them from FZip, I get this error.

I want to use Adobe's Blaze DS via ColdFusion through Ajax. I know enough ColdFusion and JavaScript to do what I want to do, but I want to add long poling into the application and it looks like the only way to do that is through Blaze DS...but I don't know enough about Flash/Flex to finish the job.

I know it's possible to use the Browser control, and add the script packaged as a HTML file to the Browser control, and expose Flex objects. I'm asking because I would like to try to mimic something like the Signed RSL "swz" system Adobe uses to cache the Flex Framework into the Flash Player, so if you ever visit a site that downloads the Flex framework for some flash website, then the next time, and forevermore, you don't have to download it again.
I can't do this because I'm using my own version of the Flex SDK from the Sandbox, and I have like 5 other swc's I'm using (Mate, RestfulX, etc.). I would like to be able to cache these things permanently, and only have them re-download them if they change.
How do I do that, or what should I read, other than the Adobe RSL docs and such? Can I use javascript or ruby to do this?
I'm writing an Adobe AIR app using plain HTML which needs to upload photos to Facebook. I don't think Facebook's JavaScript/Connect library includes photo uploading functionality, but their ActionScript library does. However, I'm having trouble loading the ActionScript library into the HTML page.
Adobe's documentation describes the process of loading ActionScript libraries into HTML AIR apps, which I tried using the compiled Flash library available here (specifically, Facebook_library_with_AIRConnect_v3.4_flash.swc). So my page looks something like:

Once the first one connects the host's IP address is cached for the lifetime of the application.And the URLRequest.useCache property,understandably,has no effect on DNS caching.how to force a host name to re-resolve inside a AIR (or Flash) application?
Note: Unfortunately, resolving the IP through a web service and rewriting the URL is not an option as a workaround.The use-case is downloading files from Amazon S3 using signed URLs which are invalidated if modified.
Update: The test results above were gathered on WinXP prior to AIR 1.5.2. Subsequent tests using 1.5.2 show serialized requests with URLStream.load() are re-resolved more frequently but still ignore TTL values.I still haven't figured out what conditions are necessary to trigger the re-resolution, but have noted a couple of cases that prevent it.For instance, if another asynchronous URLStream is active to the same host then requests use the cached IP address and are not resolved. And simply closing and dereferencing all streams to a host is not sufficient to ensure the same host name will be re-resolved in the next request.

It is required that all of the floating windows are contained within one native window, therefore the creation of more native windows is not suitable.
I have used a Custom HTMLHost class in order to enable the creation of a native window but I can't work out a way of creating a MDI window instead. I am using the flexMDI framework for my floating panel interface.
how to best handle the issue of not having enough permission inside of a Google Chrome Extension. I am interacting with the YouTube API, but I am not using swfobject.js, just using am embdeeded div. I do not believe this is introducing my security issue, but perhaps it is. In development, I had to navigate to Adobe's flash player security page and designate my development folder as a 'safe' location. In deployment, I do not have the ability to do this. I am a web designer and I do like to hand code using jquery however, I think it would be much faster to use gui applications like flash to create animations especially on the fly as well as support for writing and editing source code.

I need to execute some javascript string code from flash swf file using actionscript 3.
I read that it could be done by passing the javascript code to the parent html document , using externalinterface.call function. Then I assume it will be faster if I can declare functions in the javascript code in the HTML document in the first use of externalinterface.call funtion ; if flash code calls the javascript code repeatedly. So let me ask you how to do that. For details , any javascript to be loaded is unknown in design time and I can not prepare a javascript file to be loaded.
for some reason, whenever I dynamically load a swf on a $(document).ready() by writing to a div, I am unable to make javascript calls to the browser. Specifically, all calls to the browser return "null". This does not occur when embedding the swf normally on the page load, but I would like to prevent loading of the swf until a specified point in time.
What the heck is going on here? Is there something special about dynamically embedding a swf that prevents the swf from talking to the browser? The methods ARE called (I've proven such by showing alerts), but all return values to any function, regardless of type returned, shows as null when it gets to flash.
Is it possible to pass file names from a running Flash application, which only purpose is to enable multiple-file-selection, to a JavaScript application which handles upload of all files to the server?I have examined various Flash upload solutions (like SWFUpload, Uploadify, etc.) and none of them meets my needs. I want an easy to implement solution (like Uploadify) which also lets me specify various parts of the HTTP request.
